Na Brown Award Race Begins

If you don't know what the Na Brown award is, definitely go back and check out this piece from the summer that provides a little refresher on it. This offseason, we identified WR Chad Hall as an early favorite for the distinction, but now that camp has officially begun

After day one, we've got a new leader in the clubhouse. Safety Kurt Coleman. He's got all the criteria. Seventh round pick, getting praise from coaches, and local media fluff pieces. Can he keep up his performance and become the first defensive player to win the Na Brown Award?

Stay tuned.

Ha, went back to that article to see who I had my money on...

Clay Harbor, evidently. Haven’t heard a peep about Harbor yet. Come on Clay! All it takes is one ridiculous catch, and you’ll have 3 articles about you the next day.

I still think there should have been an ad campaign for Na along the lines of Bo Jackson. Would’ve been worth billions.

I tried to track down Na Brown to get him involved, but no luck there.

He's locked in my basement.

I’ll untie his hands so he can liveblog with us. No webcam though.

This will be so awesome if he does get back to you… It would rule to have a Na Brown interview on the site!

No kidding, wonder what his reaction will be to the Na Brown award.

He is married to Erika Brown and they have 3 amazing kids. Na’ Jr. (8)

I say we Practice Squad him right away, he’ll be a stud by middle school. Practice Squad rules be damned!

LOL…Na’ Jr could then win the Na Brown award.

Riley Cooper is getting lots of love. I think if Kurt Coleman starts a fight and we get comments like “guys are just competing and its good to have that fire” or something like that, Coleman will have to almost be a lock. There also seems to be cautious optimism regarding Trevard Lindley.

Is it possible for Cornelius Ingram to be a contestant? I know he was drafted last year, but he never played last year. This year, he’s got a great story, lots of pieces already written about his leg, plus the media seems to be almost penciling him in as the 2nd TE. BGN itself has been waiting with baited breath to see what he can do.

Let the beasting begin.

Cornelius is definitely a candidate. He’s never started in the NFL but is getting a lot of media attention this offseason. Just wait…

by HankM on Jul 28, 2010 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Cornelius could have won it last year with the buzz he was getting.

He’s got my vote. Has he come into camp in good shape? Anybody heard?

by MG77 on Jul 28, 2010 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions

No, he’s come into camp with a playmate who has a sex tape. Do you really need to be in shape at that point?

But see, that makes him even more of a camp favorite. We’re all secret lobbying for him to make her do more tapes…

Hopefully whoever wins it they dont decide to trade like every other one. Usually they end up becoming a decent player.

Ill wait

until Spads starts his hype machine

by Easedel on Jul 28, 2010 2:20 PM EDT reply actions

Well Spads hype is an essential part of winning the Na. You gotta have Spads hyping you to win a Na.

Chad Hall

is the Na Brown winner for sure. He will make it to the last day of cuts and then be put on the practice squad. He is this years Danny Amendola (or however you spell his name). Then Tampa or some other crappy team will pluck him off our practice squad.

Cowboys suck.
