Bryant already showing his true colors
This guy hasn't played a down in the NFL and he's already acting like a douche. As if he hasn't learned anything by TO still not having a job despite his talent. Way to hitch your wagon to a major prima donna there Cowgirls. I think his stay there is gonna get entertaining before it's all over.

" I think his stay there is gonna get entertaining before it's all over."
Yea, but i havn’t heard him say " were gonna sting da ass"
The kid has been nothing but humble since getting there, the far end from a prima donna as you can get.

He signed his contract and one day later he pulls this. ONE DAY! Guess he still does the fact that he’s not talking in ebonics about stinging asses, but I’m not sure of the relevance of it all.
It turns out I overestimated my apathy, but not enough to matter.

Come on, Norm. Rookies have participated in hazing like this for as long as I can remember. It’s stupid, silly stuff that breaks up the monotony of camp and builds team chemistry. And he won’t carry a vet’s pads?!? Seriously? That’s what you call being “nothing but humble?”
We can both probably agree that Jeremy Shockey is an asshole, right? Well, the only other circumstance I can think of in which a guy refused to participate in rookie hazing was Shockey when he wouldn’t sing the U of Miami fight song, and it actually led to a fight between him and Brandon Short.
I’m not going to jump to any conclusions yet about Bryant off of one stupid little incident like this, but it’s absolutely not the attitude you want to see out of your 1st round pick that has a history of character issues…. on the first day of camp.
Formerly Bye, Dawk :(
Yes Jimmy and a number of Rookies have refused
only to get severly hazed.
No I agree it’s not good and it’s a rookie mistake, I really don’t think there is anything to see here. He refused which happens a lot in the nfl and he will get hazed and we may never know or hear about it.
Of course Micheal Irvin stabbed a guy in the throat for refusing to be hazed! Now that is extreme!

I just posted the ESPN version of this … Linky
IMHO it’s not smart to piss off the Vets, these are the guys who are going to support you, show you the ropes, help you develop.
This is something that is a part of sports I remember this in high school sports. It’s always better to embrace it, your team becomes your family.
They call me The Professor.
How is this good news for the Eagles?
The best thing we could hope for is that Roy Williams becomes Dez’s mentor and best friend on the team.

I don't get it
How does not abiding to the annual rookie hazing make him a douche? I don’t really think a comparison to T.O. after refusing to be someone’s bitch. If anything I respect him for it because he is one of the few players I’ve ever seen who doesn’t succumb to hazing. I mean granted this is the Cowboys so I could care less, but it just doesn’t make sense. If I don’t turn in a paper on time for one of my classes does that mean I show my colors as a juvenile delinquent?
meh
I think comparing him to TO is just wishful thinking in that people hope this kid becomes a huge problem child. But still this is an important note, they are trying to bring him into the football fraternity everyone has to pay there dues.
This is a right of passage, a tradition that welcomes you into the family of pro football players, and he is snubbing his nose at it. It’s going to piss people off and it’s going to be an issue. For me this does make him a douche, he’s not embracing the tradition.
They call me The Professor.
I have to respect it
Traditions like that are BS in my opinion. I mean me picking up something for you all because you feel entitled to boss me around because you’ve been here longer is BS to me. Just like when I was in high school and when I was a freshman and the Varsity players would because of that seniority crap they use to talk and I would push them out the way and say I could give a @#$% about that. Especially it being the guy he was brought into obviously replace soon enough. I think its kind of funny as a matter of fact. If it were me I would probably say some smart ass comment “You pick em up cause you never know how many more times you gon pick them up before I take over that spot of yours.” Then again, I have a major problem with authority.
they way i figure it
He feels hazed by the dolphins already.
Plus after reading and listening to the actual video
It appears Roy said he hopes he doesn’t carry the pads, then they will go to step two. Dez said himself Roy is joking “he hopes”.
If this all the trouble we have this presason then great.
Positives-
Did not choke Jeff Ireland to death or even throw him to the media hounds. accepted his apology.
First interview was “yes sir” and “no sir” to the media who were asking terrible quistions.
First to practice and last to leave, been catching balls from the 4th QB an hour before practice.
Demanded his agent get him into camp on time and probably took less money to do that, this kid sees the big picture. top five talent but took mid 20 money.
This kid really loves football, kieth Brookings said his love for the game is contagious. it’s effecting other guys.
The guy signs autographs, holds babies for pictues, throws the football with kids in the stands,
Nothing I’ve seen says this kid is bad in any way except this.
his talent is off the chart. He has not dropped a ball yet in practice and has made some insane catches. Several people watching the practice have commented on how fluid and fast his routs are, he’s almost always open.
he took mid 20s money
Because he was drafted in the mid 20s. Don’t make that out to be some show of character…
Well, we're talking about Roy Williams...
If that had been Tony Romo and Bryant refused, you would be on to something…
If the one trying to do the hazing is someone that most of the veterans don’t look with respect, you have a weak link trying to haze someone…
I would also refuse to being hazed by a weak link.
Arnold, almost 5 years of good memories, you'll be missed.
Viva México! Go Cowboys!
I don't think its a matter of talent
Hazing is more veteran vs rookie.
Disagree
Would you help and back up a guy that you don’t really like? I wouldn’t. Bryant has a few months in the organization and surely has a clue on the players that he can’t mess with.

Exactly Who the fuck is he, as of right now he’s a no name rookie this is the 2nd time this piece of shit’s name has been brought up in contraversy. It’s called tradition, everyone before him has done it and everyone after him will do it. I don’t care if Foko hands his pads to Graham he beter damn well carry those shits.
O and just a side note his mother’s a crack head hooker.

Wow
Surely sucks to be you, too much hate… Probably because anyone was capable of hazing you during your lifetime… Just because they were older and more experienced… And because that was a tradition.
I recommend a visit to a Psychoanalyst that you can trust.

I’m a former US Marine and When I went in to my first unit it was common place to take the new guys and make their life hell for about 3 months. Then after that a new group of Marines came in and it was your turn to make other people hate life…. I know the type of people that think they are above tradition. In from my expierance and point of view they are the guys you can never trust.

I understand
But there are circumstances and circumstances.
For example, if you’re a proud man, the most likely thing is that you’re going to make an attempt to defend yourself. And if the group that’s attempting to haze you doesn’t have enough cohesion, it’s likely that you’re going to walk without much harm.
How much cohesion a guy like Roy Williams can have on the team? We’re talking about a guy that has stealed like $15Ms with his level of play… Not much, actually Austin, Crayton and Witten try to get along with him, but for the most part stand away from him.
Now, if you were to try to defend yourself from a well knit group, you would be in a world of hurt. For example, if Bryant were to do something like that with Romo, the whole OLine would be inmediately on his case and he would be carrying the pads and jock straps of those guys… And after a day of training, I can’t imagine a worst punishment…
Arnold, almost 5 years of good memories, you'll be missed.

Dez’s actions say a few things, one is he thinks he better than other people, secound is that eithor Willams is the outcast of the cowpatties or the entire locker room has no cohesion.
Hey Dez, it's 2am do you know where your mother is?

Out of everything that I've seen
1) There’s cohession.
2) Team captains like James, Brooking and Gurode have already said that they’re going to take care of the matter in house.
3) Williams is kind of an @ss that won’t be missed when he’s let go.
4) Bryant will pay for what he did (literally, the most likely thing is that he’s going to be asked to buy dinner for the OLine), but I don’t blame him for standing up to Roy Williams (Bryant’s looking better than him in Training Camp and the guy’s seeing the writing on the wall).
Over at the Cowboys blog, Rafael makes an outstanding job of covering camp, out of what he’s seeing he’s kind of wondering for how long will Roy keep his starting role away from Bryant, because the guy’s looking much better than Roy.
As far as I know, confidence in a wideout, is a good thing.

We’ll see however like I’ve said in an earlyer post if he’s not a piece of shit he’s sure making a case to be one

Fuck yeah!
This incident needs to be poked at over here. You thought we would leave it? Fuck the Cowboys and this stuck up little shit. If you don’t like it, stay the fuck over on the Cowboys site. We’re not trolling there, leave well enough alone.
It turns out I overestimated my apathy, but not enough to matter.
As I said above
Would you help a guy that you don’t really like? I think that Terry is opinionated and serves a purpose on the blog, but I don’t go there to read his reasoning… Or lack there of.
Now, would I carry Rafael’s laptop? I want to meet the guy and share a long talk about the Cowboys, so if I can help him I would.
Arnold, almost 5 years of good memories, you'll be missed.

I like the way this is shaping up alrady.
