The Linc - The Soothsaying High School Coach

Kolb's high school coach foretold future success of Birds QB
Even before Kolb started turning heads at Houston, he made a very strong impression with his high school football coach: "You can mark my words -- 10 years from now, he’ll be much better thought of than Brady Quinn."

Eagles look to Hobbs to replace Brown | Philadelphia Inquirer | 07/25/2010
"In my mind the whole time, I'm starting every game," Hobbs said. "If you were to open me up you would think I was crazy inside because that's how it was. But that's how you get through the day. That's how you get through certain situations."

Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick aren't the only Eagles quarterbacks generating a buzz this offseason.

Inqlings: Tony Luke show for the Birds fans | Philadelphia Inquirer | 07/25/2010
South Philly sandwich czar/actor Tony Luke Jr. is getting into the TV game with Tony Luke's Eaglemania, a weekly, half-hour Philadelphia Eagles fan-friendly variety show.

And of course, our old friend T.O. is making the headlines again. Try not to laugh too hard at this one:

Rams interested in positive locker room influence, Terrell Owens - Shutdown Corner - NFL  - Yahoo! Sports
Terrell Owens could soon be a major factor in the level of success and happiness that Sam Bradford experiences in his rookie year. ESPN's Chris Mortensen says that the Rams are putting together a serious contract offer for Owens, and that T.O. could be in a Rams jersey within 72 hours.

Good call. Kolb is probably already better thought of than Quinn, given the fact Quinn was massive bust for Browns and all.

And LOL at the Rams.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

- Doesn’t hurt the Rams at all if they sign Owens. If anything, he gives them a little more fan interest, some semi-decent production of a questionable group of WRs, and takes some of the attention away from Bradford which wouldn’t be the worst thing.

- Eagles praising Kafka? Typical BS article you see prior to/very start of training camp. Let’s see how he plays in a few games first in training camp before saying much one way or the other.

- How Hobbs looks in camp is arguably one of the most important stories (top 3-4). If he struggles or is slow coming back, there aren’t alot of viable alternatives to start.

Joselio Hanson is still a viable option

That being said, if Hobbs is truly back to 100%, he’ll likely be the one starting opposite Asante.

If Hobbs isn’t available, it is Hanson as your starting CB and your guess on the nickel/dime CBs.

Team will spread the field on the Eagles and run a ton of 3 WRs and 4 WRs set and rightly so.

An improved pass rush should help with that

You think teams can consistently defend Trent Cole and JP/Graham/Tapp one-on-one, with only an RB to help chip on one sire?

Haha, would be hilarious if the only job Owens could find was with the Rams.

I actually feel bad for Bradford

I think Bradford has the ability to have Jeff Garcia levels of success (a few pro bowls and play off appearances. An overall decent career) but if the Rams sign Owens, this kids confidence will be shot before he even gets a chance to make an impact. Spags should know better then that. he witnessed first hand the TO destruction.

He seemed to behave himself in buffalo… He’d do well on a young team and a good coach with his apparent maturation… Cincinnati I think would be a disaster

There’s no press in Buffalo not that there will be much in St Louis but more than Buffalo.

Might seem like it...

…but I know differently from first-hand experience, being stationed near a small town called Watertown, NY. You are perhaps correct that they have no national press, but regionally that was big news. Everything he did or didn’t do, said or didn’t say made headlines for weeks afterwards.

Now, transfer that to St. Louis. Much more metro area, and a more pro-sports heavy town (3 present-day teams as opposed to Buffalo’s 2). I don’t see the limelight fading away from Owens if he signs with any team.

I have family in Watertown. National Media is really the only media when it comes to the context of Johnny G’s argument. We don’t know what he did if it wasn’t covered by the national media and they just aren’t paying there top dogs to go to Buffalo once a week.

“Rams interested in positive locker room influence, Terrell Owens – Shutdown Corner – NFL – Yahoo! Sports”

^Thats a joke right? I honestly cant tell…

I thought it was a typo...

…before I read the story. The headline looks like it should’ve read:

“Rams interested in positive locker room influence, and Terrell Owens.”
