So much for Graham not missing camp
Hope Sal Pal is wrong and this stupid agent gets this kid into camp. Can we please fix these roookie salaries so these moron agents stop messing with theses equally dumb and naive kid's heads? You're unproven kid, get the F in there
PHILADELPHIA -- Unsigned Eagles first round draft pick Brandon Graham looks like a no-show for the first day of training camp on Monday, when rookies and selected veterans must report to the dorms of Lehigh University, according to league sources.
Graham, the 13th overall pick out of Michigan, also will likely miss the first few days of practice. This could impact his ability to slide right into the situational pass-rushing role at left defensive end that head coach Andy Reid had planned for him.
Graham is a long way from signing his rookie deal, league sources say. So far, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and Graham’s agent, Joel Segal, have engaged in what a league source described as only "early conversations." Based on the rookie salary structure, Graham is due about $14.8 million in a signing bonus alone -- making him one of the most expensive rookies signed by the Eagles since they drafted Donovan McNabb in 1999.
The Eagles, who rarely suffer through contract holdouts at training camp, are already heavily invested in Graham. Philadelphia traded two third round picks and the No. 24 overall pick to move up 11 spots in the first round to select Graham. He is expected to provide immediate help to a defense that badly underachieved under first year defensive coordinator Sean McDermott in 2009.
With training camps opening over the next seven days, only a handful of first and second round picks are signed. The Eagles second round pick, safety Nate Allen, is also unsigned. Allen has been penciled in as the starting free safety

Honestly
Everybody should have seen this coming. The CBA is fucking everything. It’s likely that both the teams and the agents want ridiculous shit. The Eagles aren’t the only ones with an unsigned 1st round pick.
I expect Graham’s holdout to last at least 3-5 days.

if we're lucky
here’s the thing, for once the clubs finally ahve the upper hand. they can say “fuck you, there’s going to likely be a rookie cap next year, if a lockout happens it will be the year after that..you wnna hold out? be our guest”
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
That would be true in most cases Joe. I mean if you sat at your position and then drafted the player, but considering we gave up 3 picks to get him, I think they are in the position of power.

this is true
on the other hand we still brought in some guys that are expected to make an immediate impact. He can sit out, fall behind, and then hurt his second contract (the big pay day) all he wants. ultimately it hurts the player to sit out much more than the team.
The whole rookie salary thing has to go though — it’s way too ludicrous. The NBA is stupid as hell and even they figured it out that there needs to be a rookie cap.

agreed, there most definately needs to be a rookie cap. it is probably one of the biggest sticking points in the current CBA talks.

yeah
i have heard nothing of allens deal even being close to being signed so hopefully he doesnt miss any time since FS is one of the most complicated positions on eagles defense but so far it looks as if allen might miss a day

Define “close to signing”. Tomorrow? Monday? In a week?

From his post at Igglesblog
Things are still quiet on the Brandon Graham front, but I get the feeling that Nate Allen will sign soon.
Maybe ‘close to signing’ isn’t verbatim…but Tommy’s feelings seem to be more informed than anything we hear

The CBA coming up will ultimately be a good thing
it will suck if we cant watch football but all this Rookie contract stuff will be resolved and it will help every team in the long run financially

Joe_D, I typically enjoy your posts and comments...
But this should have been a fanshot if you were going to take the whole article and just post a very short comment about it. Also, you were beaten to this by a fanpost by about three hours.

Eh...
Graham could afford to miss the first few days of rookie camp.
The guy that can’t afford to miss ANY time is Nate Allen…he needs to get in there.
Tommy says he hears that Nate’s signing is close…hopefully he’s right
"EFF YOU, WE'RE WINNING ANYWAY!!!!!!" (Bye, Dawk)
Much, much more important getting Nate Allen into camp on time.
You mentioned Sal Pal… Got a link?

What?
Come on, hes a Cowboy fan, but don’t wish injury upon anyone.
thanks
It just feels good to not give espn any TMZ material. Dez actually signed and was at camp. Can you imagine if he didnt…
Really?! Really?!
I think his “personality problems” are overblown. He seems like a good kid to me. Either way, I wasn’t happy he dropped to the Cowboys.
i think dez
Landed in an amazing situation. That’s pretty much a dream job imo (if I didn’t bleed green)
2010-11 Predictions:
Kevin Kolb will go to the probowl and complete >65% of passes.
Jeremy Maclyn will have more receptions than Miles Austin & Steve Smith
Graham will have the starting LDE spot tied up by week 5, win ROTY, and have >10 Sacks
11-5 finish.
