Good to see he actually made a smart move by not complaining about making money when so many people are not. That being said, i’m with somewhat of….mediocre confidence of him opposite Asante. That surgery he had sounds AWFUL.
10-12 wins?
I just can’t see it. I’d be overjoyed if it happened, but a lot of unproven or previously unimpressive pieces have to come together in a real big hurry for that to happen: OL, QB, RB, FS, all three LB spots, KR, at least one CB and maybe two if Samuel again shows himself to be unwilling or unable to play his assignment and tackle. And all that assumes Vick doesn’t do anything (anything else) dumb and that Jackson doesn’t snap and justifiably punch somebody in the throat after being asked about his contract for the 438th time.
Man, do I want to be wrong.
I could see 10 wins – we won 11 last year with an injured Sheldon Brown starting, no starting RG, inconsistent pass rush, no starting FS, no starting MLB, an all-or-nothing offense, and a phobia of beating the Cowboys. This year, Ernie Sims and return of Bradley should help LB spot, Nate Allen can’t be worse than Harris/Jones combo, Stacy Andrews is actually heading into next season healthy, and all our young guys have a year of experience under their belt.
Anything more than 10? Eh…highly unlikely.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
Lets hope thats a starter hat

I thought so too....
But i believe it was just the standard Pro Bowl Jersey logo this season. Go back and look at the jerseys. Their are “stars” on the jerseys.!
"... You play to win the game. Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win..."
A quote from the NYTimes Article
Left tackle Jason Peters received honors last season, but that was strictly due to name recognition and fat paychecks. In reality, Peters was one of the worst blind side guardians in the game. He has boundless talent but must polish his fundamentals.
Really? One of the worst? Did you watch any of the Eagles’ games or are you just going off what “experts” say on that dreaded four-letter network? Peters may not have lived up to Andy’s dubbing “the best LT in the game,” but he sure-as-hell wasn’t one of the worst in the game either.
Other than that and a few shots at Philly fans though, this article was pretty spot-on.
Yup...
The pass rushers Peters faced last year – DeMarcus Ware (3 times), Brian Orakpo (twice), Osi Umenyiora (twice), Julius Peppers, Will Smith, Shawne Merriman, Tamba Hali, John Abraham, Elvis Dumervil, and others.
Not to mention, there was absolutely no continuity along that OL last year, and Andy Reid basically put Peters on an island every single game and said “Block their best pass rusher with no help.”
…and yet, he only gave up 7 sacks, and often times dominated in the run game.
Just a stupid, uninformed comment there, in what is actually an otherwise accurate piece.
Formerly Bye, Dawk :(
Dominated in the run game?
What run game? Reid basically ensures that Peters flaws (his abysmal pass blocking) are going to perpetually overshadow his immense talents (his great run blocking). If Peters fails, it’s because a) he’s a run blocker, not a pass blocker and b) Reid’s gameplanning and knowledge of his own personnel is fatally flawed.
...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

He’s the best LT in the NFC East

Alvin "Ace" Bowen
Good friend of mine. Wish the best of luck for him. I don’t expect him to make it, but hope and pray that he does though. If he does, probably more of a special teams player than anything.
Beasts of the East
A large part of the success of the NFC East can be explained in simple dollars and cents. The NFC East teams are the first, second, fourth and seventh most valuable franchises in the NFL. And that’s not because of the amount of Super Bowls won, or – in one particular case – not won, the level of talent, the quality of coaching or anything like that. No, the value of a franchise is largely dependent on its ability to generate revenue.
An informational article by a Cowboys blogger… but notice the not so slight jab in the middle… ouch.
i loved that article
and then i read that line and felt bad about myself
not to knock anyones writing
The write up about the NFC east was great and showed how good the division is.
I just don’t understand what everyones fascination is with being the best division? I just don’t get it. People talk about it like its a major accomplishment, something to be proud of.
Honestly, why the F do I care that the cowboys and giants are good teams. I only see it as an excuse. something like “yea we didnt make the palyoffs, but thats because our division is so brutal”
Yet, I see fans in person and on message boards repping the East like they are fans of the whole division. F that, I hate our division except for the eagles. Why should I be proud that the cowboys and giants are good?
We could be the worst division for all I care as long as the Eagles are doing good.
I dunno, maybe its just me.
Competition breeds effort and success
Playing the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins is good competition every year, and can help us figure out our strengths and weaknesses. Getting by them allows us to be battle tested for the playoffs. I mean sure, I would love for the Cowboys to suck, but strong competition helps as well.
Because
When you make playoffs in our division it feels alot better than to make thr playoffs in the nfc west with only a 8-8,9-7 record. Being in a good division gives oir team credibility when you post a 11-5 or 12-4 record.

I prefer it like that
Because it is more of an honor to win the NFC East than any other division in my opinion. Unlike the AFC East where the division crown is pretty much the Patriots to lose every year or the AFC South which is handed to the Colts by God’s had (no offense). You actually have to earn your wins in the NFC East. I don’t understand how the “experts” believe that the AFC is the harder conference. I did the reseach:
Divisions winners from 2002-2009
AFC East: Jets, Pats, Pats, Pats, Pats, Pats, Mia, Pats
AFC North: Steelers, Ravs, Steelers, Bengals, Ravs, Steelers, Steelers, Bengals
AFC South: Titans, Colts, Colts, Colts, Colts, Colts, Titans, Colts
AFC West: Raiders, Cheifs, Chargers, Broncos, Chargers, Chargers, Chargers, Chargers
Out of 8 years the Pats won the AFC East 6 times.
Out of 8 years the Steelers won the AFC North 4 times
Out of 8 years the Colts won the AFC South 6 times
Out of 8 years the Chargers won the AFC West 5 times.
NFC East: Eagles, Eagles, Eagles, Giants, Eagles, Cowboys, Giants, Cowboys
NFC North: Packers Packers, Packers, Bears, Bears, Packers, Vikes, Vikes
NFC South: Bucs, Panthers, Falcons, Panthers, Saints, Bucs, Panthers, Saints
NFC West: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks, Seahawks, Seahawks, Seahawks, Cards, Cards
Out of 8 years the Eagles won the NFC East 4 times (w/ the Cowboys and Giants both having 2)
Out of 8 years the Packs won the NFC North 4 times (with the Bears having 2 and Vikes with 2 and picking up steam)
Out of 8 years the NFC South has had multiple different winners with the Saints (2), Panthers (3), Bucs (2), and Falcons (1)
Out of 8 years the S-Hawks have won the NFC West 4 times (with the Rams having 1, 49ers have 1 and are picking up steam, and Cards in control lately with 2)
Other than the dreadfully weak NFC West the NFC East has far more competitiveness amongst the teams rather than the AFC which is year in and year out dominated by the same teams. We actually earn our wins and can walk away with a sense of ownership. I firmly believe that you take any other the teams out of the NFC East and put them in another division and suddenly they are vying for a division title.
