What's up BGN...it's been a while since I have published an article here, as I have been busy working at my own site Bleed-Green.com. Dunno if you guys liked or disliked my absence/hiatus, but I decided to return and post part of one of my recent articles here, regarding Michael Vick....
Despite speculation and a constant flow of reports that have suggested the Eagles could be looking to release Michael Vick, it has been confirmed by team sources (via Adam Caplan of the FOX Sports network) that the organization plans to keep the quarterback, wanting the veteran to play out the two-year contract he signed last preseason. Unless Vick is proven to have lied about his involvement (or lack thereof) in a June 25 nightclub shooting, the team would reportedly like to see him play the 2010 season in Philadelphia, as the front office and staff have “invested a lot of time” in him.
Team sources have also informed Caplan that any interest the Eagles have in Baltimore QB Troy Smith (who was being looked at last week by the Eagles as a potential insurance option) would only become serious if Vick is removed from the roster. It has also been confirmed that the team does not have any interest in acquiring John Beck, another of the Ravens’ backup passers, though he had never been mentioned as a target of the Birds in the first place.
Kevin Kolb also chimed in on the situation, supporting Vick and discussing the matter as if he knows his fellow quarterback will remain on the team. “I think people misunderstand Michael a little bit. They don’t understand how good of a guy he is. But I think [Eagles players and coaches] all see that. I just hate–and this is what he’s upset about–that he got his name drugged back through the mud.”
