Around SBN: UFC 146 Predictions

The Eagles have reportedly inked two more late round picks. That would make 4 draft picks signed.

Scott, Owens, and Chaney have signed. If there’s four, who’s the other one?

every team does.. alot easier to do that. the later contracts are simple to do.

graham’s and allen’s will be the only “difficult” ones. Graham’s my only concern to be to camp on time

Somebody should have posted “Run the ball!” when Scott signed

hopefully they learned their lesson with Maclin and hurry up and get Graham signed and into camp quickly and not go through another holdout.

I could be wrong, and maclin seems like a great character guy as well. But, graham does not seem like the type to holdout.

40,000 and 60,000??

Is that a signing bonus/guarantee money? Thats a huge drop off from 1st to 7th round.

Phillies in the World Series, Flyers in the Stanley Cup, now all we need is the Philadelphia Eagles in the Superbowl. Arlington, Texas 2011...

Doesn't matter if Graham "wants to" hold out

It all depends on when people around his slot start signing. Unless he’s like DaAngelo Williams and just says ’Fu*k it, I want to be at camp, sign me up," he (and his agent) will wait until he sees what 11, 12, 14, and/or 15 do to see where his salary should end up.

I don’t think Maclin wanted to hold out, but they waited to see what happened with the people around his slot before they moved forward.

Talk about letting players/agents off the hook!

While that perspective isn’t totally without merit, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense by itself. If every player waited to sign until the two players before and after them signed, NO ONE WOULD EVER SIGN!!! I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to get an idea of where the contract fits in, but come on now, these people are professionals, in charge of their own careers, its their responsibility to push to get this worked out in time for them to be in camp. (I could write something similar about the teams by the way).

My point is, it’s not beyond Graham’s control. He already probably has a VERY good idea of what he’ll make, as does his team and his agent, if the people right before and right after haven’t signed and training camp is looming, he could tell his agent to step up the effort and maybe even accept a very small discount. Is a very small discount worth improving your chances of being successful in your new career? I think so. I actually didn’t choose my highest offer out of grad school because of this very type of consideration.
