Yes, the man is 39 years old, and he has been discarded by the titans, but the guy can still play.
Evidence: He started all of last year and in case you missed it, run-blocked for a 2,000 yrd rusher, sure alot of it had to do with Chris Johnson being a freak, but he also made all the right line calls as he knows defenses in and out.
What are we really risking?
Well the guy is 39 so injury concerns are completely valid, however, he is not coming off of any injuries (that normally means the EAGLES wouldn't sign him, as they apparently only sign players w/ damaged limbs).
Then there is the salary, do you think he would play for the veteran minimum? I think he is very prideful and has played at a very high level for many many years, so maybe an incentive heavy contract would get the job done.
So are we really going to count on a 39 yr old to play 16, hopefully 20 games this season?
No way! Mawae would be a stop gap player that we would have on the roster to bring a veteran presence to a very young team, and to play center for somewhere around 8 games, or until Jackson comes back.
So what do you think, would a rental of a 39 yr old for 8 - 10 games be alright with you? The guy clearly would not be the future of our center position, but I could see him as a very competent short term replacement for J. Jackson.
Well let me know how stupid I am, and how this would end up causing the entire team to somehow contract the plague. Peace
