Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

Shawn Andrews was taken by the Omaha Nighthawks in the 3rd round of the UFL draft tonight. So... things are looking up for him!

Ok that was mean.

Wow

I never even heard of the UFL before. A 5 team league? And he was drafted in the 3rd? Can’t open the link at work, so is it for real? That is a crazy fall for him if so.

He was drafted, but I don’t think it really means anything. I just think it means that if he were to want to play in the league he would have to go to the Omaha team.

The leauge basically drafts guys that aren’t under contract to the NFL. Whether they actually play or not is up to them.

Makes sense

Although at this point, the UFL is looking like Andrews’ best option. Unless there’s a rash of injuries at OL (and hey, there could very well be) I doubt any team in the NFL would want to pick him up. Besides, this could be Andrews’ way to prove he still has something left to offer.

In fairness, in a 5 team league, the 3rd round is somewhere between 11th and 15th overall.

Point, but

that’s 11-15 players after all 32 nfl teams has gone through all the UFAs, the CFL can’t stake any claims and I have no idea how the Arena league comes into play, but they seem more popular than the UFL.

I was joking.

By the way

Hollis Thomas also went to the Nighthawks in round 11.

God

If someone had told me in 2004 that 6 years later Shawn Andrews would end up here and that Stephen Jackson would be a top 5 RB, I would have been even more pissed than I was during that draft.

We missed on Andrews

But I much rather have Westbrook back there instead of Jackson even though Westbrook’s career is just abou tover

How is it that?

This dude can get drafted in the 1st round of the NFL, but can only manage the 3rd round in the UFL.

to be fair...

If we’re talking about the exact place he was drafted, be went higher here (11th) than he did in the NFL draft (16th).

Did the fans for any of the UFL teams boo their draft picks?

Even better question, do any of the UFL teams have fans?

Sometimes it's just fun to take the family for a spin around the lake in the old boat. Even if it's not your family or your boat, and they're screaming for you to stop.
