PrintLet me give you an impersonal bio of myself. I came to this blog around the very beginning of free agency in 2008 when I was dying to know what would happen with the rumors of signing the class's hottest free agent: Asante Samuels. Also I kept hearing things from my gym teacher about us working out a trade with Arizona because they were having trouble with the contract that Fitzgerald had. I don't remember if he wanted more money or they were like "oh crap we gave him too much" and needed to restructure.. I don't remember. Anyways, I could easily watch ESPN and look at the bottomline on there to see what news was happening but ALAS!!!! I was in Dubai, which is in a country called United Arab Emirates, visiting my sister and her family. Beautiful place btw.. anyway, so ESPN wasn't really an option in a country named Dubai so I realized that I must find some kind of way to be updated with the Eagles happenings so I typed in "asante samuels eagles" in Google and bleedinggreennation.com came up. This is what started my relationship with this blog and we haven't looked back :) . I remember the interactions that I had with members back then, yophillybro kept saying how awesome my picture was because it was of an Eagles branded pair of Reeboks. NorthPhillyKid was someone else that I commented back and forth with. I remember those two from back then. I'm pretty sure I remember Whodie also because I remember that he had that picture with the monkey from family guy.
Now I'm not sure exactly what the statistics are but I can tell you that I very rarely put up fanposts, I choose to more or less observe and read and enjoy instead of put up fanposts or fanshots. I occasionally comment but I read much more than I let on. I love everything that this site has to offer. I love every single thing about this blog now. I've seen this blog grow, and actually started looked at the sitemeter back when I first started visiting the site and keep checking back with it and have noticed the incredible growth that we've undergone. I love everything though about this site and I just wanted to make a random post about it. From the posts of why Maclyn suckskss (I think the poster literally killed himself though..) to the beautiful writing styles of Bye,Dawk :( to the things that JIBTA says. I love everything about this blog. Oldas is hilarious btw. Actually a lot of people on here are hilarious. It somewhat helped me through 2 breakups and a huge carcrash.. I love this site and i've worked every single Sunday the past NFL season so I've watched probably a total of 4 quarters of Eagles football, this site is the only reason I still follow them. I love this site. Thank you JasonB. Thank you everyone.

Yeah, I’ve seen your posts. I get why you feel the way you do, but you’ve got to give gay guys a break, man. That creep you had to deal with shouldn’t ruin your perception of the entire homosexual community. I don’t blame you, but 99% of gay guys are great people, and none of my gay friends have ever hit on a straight guy. Most are very understanding about that. You had a pretty awful experience so I get it, but it really isn’t fair to base your perception of the gay community on one or two bad apples, and the anti-homosexual attitude isn’t something you want to perpetuate to your children, assuming you plan on having kids one day. More an more people are coming out, and soon the people who dislike gays are going to be the one’s who have to deal with crap.
But that’s just my opinion, and like you said, we probably shouldn’t get into this if its gonna get you riled up. I certainly don’t want you to say something that would get yourself in trouble. You’re one of the more like-able people on this board, so understand that I mean no disrespect with anything I said here.

If there is one thing that bothers me about sports/ sports blogs, it’s the homophobia. Plus, I know we have gay readers. We met a bunch of them on the Sean Bradley post.

Here’s a thought, re: gays. Don’t think about it. Just be normal, as if you didn’t know. Because you probably are being normal around some you don’t.
I say this as a black person; Of course I’m proud of my uniqueness but in the end it’s not always fun to be pre-judged for it. So I guess I relate to gays in that sense, and I try to be as I wish somebody would be to me. … It’s not always easy, sometimes really awkward because I use the wrong kind of language and I love to talk about girls, but that’s life.
I know you don’t want to be lectured; I’m not even really directing this at you w_e since we know where you stand. But i type anyway since mad people read this stuff and who knows who might benefit.
I used to work with this dude in a sports-related job and you never woulda known he was gay. He was just like the rest of us, had favorite teams and shot the shit and all that. He kept mentioning “Ed” at home … I thought it was short for Edna or something. Anyway, he never wanted to come out and say it, but you could tell he wanted to let people know … so one time we were all standing around analyzing magazines for a cover shoot. We all see the Anna Kournikova one and start being like ‘daaaaaamn.’ And he grabs the Andy Roddick one and says ‘I like this one better.’ And all of us knew what he meant … and then we went right on back to shooting the shit as we always had. We had a bunch of other stuff in common — sports, where we worked, etc. — and so we were friends because of that.

And see the Swedish movie of the same name. It’s an excellent, twisted vampire story. And a bit sweet at the same time. The movie should have been nominated for a foreign film Oscar last year but it got robbed.
All that said, I’m curious to hear how the new Twilight films reconcile what’s in the books. Apparently Edward gives Bella a C-Section with his fangs when her baby starts trying to kill her from the inside. And Jacob falls in love with a baby or some shit. Not sure how they pull that off in a tween movie.

I really like fantasy book where they all have magic and swords and what not. But I usually dont turn a book down, and I cant stop reading a book once I get like 15 pages in. But the twilight books I have only read the first one, She really isnt that great of an author I am pretty sure that I could right a better book then her. Let The Right One In isn't really fantasy.
It’s a mix of coming of age with vampire horror. It has some truly fucked up parts, so be warned. But it’s very good.
And if you like fantasy, I recommend A Song of Ice and Fire. It’s a collection of fantasy novels (medieval style) by George RR Martin. A Game of Thrones is the first book. I just finished the second book and will be reading the third after finishing up Watchmen. They are making an HBO mini-series out of the books I believe.

Eh, I find all those kind of trite.
Eternal Sunshine was great I thought, for a different take on the love story. Once was an excellent and simple love story with even better music. Sleepless in Seattle doesn’t get enough love, that’s a decent one. As is its inspiration, An Affair to Remember. Any John Hughes romance beats today’s schlock by a mile. Can’t forget Casablanca even though that’s less of a love story than you might think. Dirty Dancing because Swayze was the fuckin’ man.
And of course, Jerry Maguire. You can’t beat Jerry Maguire. It’s got football, a cute kid, memorable lines and good acting.

I took a few film courses in university so I think I understand film as art better than most. You guys really need to start watching some other films, yeesh. I recomend starting with the Godfather I & II and then some serious Sergio Leone films. This shit depressed me, so many shitty movies getting popularity over so many classics.

City of God is about growing up in the favela of Rio de Janeiro among gangsters and having to do anything to survive. its pretty crazy and gun happy you should check it out.

It's frustrating, but probably not worth being upset about.
I think one, it’s natural to reject the old in favor of the new (happens with music all the time) and two, many people will come to their senses eventually. Hell, I have to remember not to be aghast when I hear kids in this upcoming generation (Udalango’s peers and younger) say they don’t know who John Hughes is and haven’t seen his movies. I just make it a point to recommend the little heard of movies to people whenever possible. And to champion the actually good ones put out by Hollywood.

If you haven’t seen it you should watch “Tsotsi.” About a kid who is a thug/ gangsta in Johannesburg that finds a baby after a crime and has to change his ways. very good film.

He is right in that there are many excellent movies that get very little love from the general public, while shitty movies get eaten up.
But there is nothing wrong with enjoying decent, but ultimately fluffy movies. And this all started with talk of The Princess Bride, which IMO falls into the category of worthwhile, not crappy, movies anyway.
Love Danny Boyle btw. 28 Days Later- awesome. Sunshine is totally under-appreciated. Slumdog was given its props, but I thought they were earned. I saw it opening weekend and loved it.
A movie that is getting a lot of love nationally right now, but probably not from anyone here, is How To Train Your Dragon. I urge everyone to check it out. Best use of 3D in a movie so far I say. Really good action sequences (the flying scenes are awesome) and it isn’t corny and pop-culture filled like most other Dreamworks cartoons. It’s much more in line with the quality you would expect from Pixar.

I enjoyed Princess and the Frog.
Since I live in, and am originally from, New Orleans, it was a nice tribute to the region and the music all fit perfectly from that perspective. It wasn’t as good as some of the classic Disney, but it certainly was a nice return to the style.
Lion King was a big time favorite.
Beauty and the Beast really was good. Alladin, 101 Dalmations, Little Mermaid. These days anything Pixar does is gold. WALL-E, UP, Nemo, Monsters Inc, The Incredibles, etc. Cars was the only one I wasn’t really a fan of and even that was pretty decent. I can’t wait for Toy Story 3 this summer.

I read the book Lovely Bones and it stands as one of my favorite books ever
The movie is a horrible rendition of the book. It completely fails in giving you that sense of dread yet comfort at the same time that is so vividly described in the book.
My wife read the book and heard the movie sucked
and bailed on going to see it. Had to go with my sister (is lame)
I did not read the book but liked the movie.
So the conclusion I’ve come to is that it’s a great movie as long as you haven’t read the book.

It validated 3D for me completely. I enjoyed Avatar fine, but Dragon was excellent and the 3D made it an awesome experience. I don’t think it works for all movies, but for some it does.
And Lovely Bones was your favorite movie in theaters ever?! Do you mean for its effects or do you mean overall? I know you’re sort of young, but just recently there the Dark Knight, Iron Man, District 9, The Hurt Locker, Moon, Where The Wild Things Are, Zombieland, Slumdog Millionaire, Episode III. I liked Episode III.
Episode I is total garbage. Episode II basically sucks, but it has a couple moments. Still don’t really acknowledge it’s existence though. While the original trilogy still stands way above it, I thought Episode III wasn’t terrible. It was the first of the prequels I didn’t walk out completely disappointed. Still wish the acting had been better, but I think a lot of that falls on Lucas’ head because virtually everyone in those movies has done excellent, or at least good, work in other films.
I think the only parts that made it watchable
Were the Bad ass lightsaber fights which tops the original trilogys like crazy.
The best one IMO being Darth Maul vs Obi wan and Qui gon

I'd recommend How To Train Your Dragon for 3D.
Some of the 3D sequences topped Avatar IMO (lots of action and flying scenes). Good story too. Not cliched like a lot of Dreamworks animated movies.

If you like films as you seem to I'm surprised you haven't seen The Princess Bride.
It really doesn’t fit in with all the other movies that were being talked about (ie A Walk To Remember). Its title and the fact that it focuses on a romance gives it a bad name. I think it is marketed it that way too sadly. I know my copy comes in a DVD case that looks like a chick flick cover, even if the movie really isn’t schlock at all.

Hobart is a traditionally good team; in and out of the top 25, competes for conf. title/playoff berth annually, one of the better teams upstate.
Gettysburg is up and down but have a longtime coach who’s a good guy (and actually recruited me face-to-face in ’93).
Hobart’s coach has been there about 15 years too; also, it’s right on one of the finger lakes. Beeeeautiful place to be in spring, summer and fall.
Sounds like you’re going to be about $160,000 poorer if you make it through all four years, but well off in the end.
I’m sure you’ll base your decision on more important factors

okay i have cerebral palsy arthris and chronic fatigue as well i have a great life and loveing folks some days are better than other days i got a make-a-wish in 2001 and saw my favorite team the broncos it was the trip of a lifetime i wish everyone couild have gotten to enjoy that with me i know some of u hate the broncos and that okay but i bleed organ and bule for my mnr fans but i bleed orange and blue denver will rise again resident broncos fan for every blog resident broncos for stampede bule thanks shvd98z24 real name jeremy woodard nettleton high class of 02 yes i am a raider
