Posting on BGN 101, posting and how to know if it is up to BGN standards

So many of you regulars here on BGN have recently complained by the level of posting around here has steadily been decreasing.  Yom Made a post about the guidelines from the Seahawks SBNation page.  While that post was met with varying degrees of agreement, I feel that it is something that still needs to be addressed.

Just recently we have had many posts that have turned into huge fights/debates.  While I am not trying to instill any type of regulations like Yom was I do feel some things should be adressed

1.While I understand grammar is not everyones strong suit, a little will go a long way in making us want to read your post.  I am sure that even in this post I am making tons of grammatical errors.  However I am keeping it at a readable level of idiocy.

2.Spelling is an issue that most people have a problem with.  However if you are writing a post here on BGN the spell check will light your post up with little strips of red that slightly resemble bacon.  While in most case Bacon is a gift from God, in this case it is bad.  So if you would do us all BGNers a favor please get rid of all the bacon strips in your post.

If you follow both of these steps it will go a long way in making people take your post seriously.  I cant speak for everyone here but I know that I personally tend to glaze over posts that look like this:  Hy evrrybdy i gotz me this idae whree we cloud make ths taem bettre.    Also even if your post is spelled correctly and has proper grammar it still needs to have facts which lead me to point 3.

3.If you have an idea for the Eagles or an observation to make, it makes your post infinity better to have data to back up your claim.  It may spark a good conversation if you just throw the idea out there, but it could also back fire on you.  You could potentially back yourself into a corner that you wont be able to argue yourself out of.  Also if you throw out one crazy idea without any facts to back it up its a permanent mark on your credibility.  If you suggest something ridiculous people will remember and automatically write you off.  A great example of this is JIBTA he suggests crazy things a lot.  But that doesnt mean that all of his ideas are so crazy.   In fact he actually has some very arguable points.  See his argument that Calvin Johnson could be the best WR in the league.   It surprises me how often people say, "Oh no im agreeing with JIBTA the world must be coming to an end."  Many of the people who say, this say this quite often.  However since JIBTA makes crazy remarks people think he cant ever be right.

Now we come to this, how do I know how to judge how well my post is being received.  The way provided by SBNATION is recs.  Recommendation of a post seems like it would be a good way to judge if you post is good.  However some of the users here on BGN like to rec garbage posts that generate funny conversation.  So that is a way that you have to look at your post and decide yourself, "Are they liking my post or laughing at me?".   Another way that you would think to judge your post is to look at number of comments.  However this is also misleading the posts that yeild the highest comments are game day threads, non football related threads, and threads making fun of the original posters lack of grammar and correct spelling.

I have found the best way to judge a post is looking at the people who come to show up.   JasonB will always show up on good posts to comment.  Other regulars that show up to high quality posts are ByeDawk:( and D3Keith.  If these people show up to your post you are doing something right.  Other regulars will show up on everypost be it a game thread or soul crushing gang bang on the original poster.
