Eagles Rookie/Selected Veterans camp news and notes
I've been following some of the coverage of the media guys down at the Philadelphia Eagles OTAs and figured I'd pass along some meta coverage here.
Some of the "selected vets" at this camp include Quintin Demps, Antonio Dixon, King Dunlap, Cornelius Ingram, Marlin Jackson, Joe Mays, Jordan Norwood, A.Q. Shipley, Martin Rucker, Max Jean-Gilles, & Moise Fokou.
DB Kurt Coleman is not at practice due to NFL rules which prohibit rookies still in schools that don't graduate until June from practicing. He is apparently in class right now, watching a movie.
Ricky Sapp is working with the LBs and Macho Harris is working as the first team cornerback. Marlin Jackson is working as the first team free safety. Alex Hall, acquired in the Sheldon Brown/Chris Gocong trade, is working with the defensive line. You may remember that he was a 3-4 OLB in Cleveland.
Rookie LBs Jamar Chaney and Keenan Clayton are playing WILL & SAM respectively. Clayton had an INT on the day.
TE Cornelius Ingram is a full go in practice and by all reports was the most consistent receiver of the day. Rookie WR Riley Cooper rebounded from an early drop to catch a TD from Mike Kafka after a nice double move.

A 229lb SAM. Fullbacks and guards all over the league are giggling and slapping themselves over the prospect of getting to block Clayton. Maybe the Eagles are thinking that opposing blockers will be so excited about pancaking the light-in-the ass rookie that they’ll forget their assignments and leave other defenders unblocked?
Clayton is pretty much known for his coverage abilities, and with Jason Witten, Chris Cooley, Fred Davis, and Kevin Boss in the division, he could be valuable covering TE’s on passing downs. I doubt we’ll be seeing him on 3rd and 1. Probably just a nickle linebacker for now, and I’m sure the Eagles have plans to have him put on some more bulk.
Formerly Bye, Dawk :(
You're almost certainly right
I’m just imagining an injury to Fokou that leaves Clayton the starter. I rather hope Sapp refines his coverage skills and wins the job long-term.

to be fair...
that’s about what weight moise fokou weighed coming in.

Shouldn't Marty be questioning Coleman's committment?
Telling the kid to drop out of school if he really wants to win?
The question is who is the early front runner for the Na Brown award?
McDougle and Babin ran away with the award 2 years ago and last year. Who will it be this year?
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
i’m not sure who it will be. All i know is that there is a better chance for a reciever to win it this year than there was any other year. Now that McNabb is gone, and Kolb is tossing “pillows” out to our receievers, failure is not an option for the guys out there catching the ball.
And McNabb was actually to blame for Ingrams injury last year, too. Had he thrown the ball more accurately, then Ingram could have caught the ball in stride and wouldnt have had to make a cut move so quickly.

Hehe, GIB is one of our avid Mcnabb supporters so I’m guessing he’s not.

Yes, it was. He wrote one of the better Pro-Mcnabb posts on BGN. You can check it out here. Also, notice how spot on I was in the thread with the Mcnabb trade talk analysis. Hehe :)

Also McNabb's fault:
The hole in the ozone layer
The subprime mortgage crisis
The collapse of the Greek economy
Kirstie Alley’s weight problem
The cancellation of “The New Adventures of Old Christine”

I’m more of a cosmo man, myself. But the nights are short. I make them entirely too strong. Pinky’s up!
On a more serious note, I do have a strangeness about my eagles passion this year. It’s much different than what I’m used to. I’m adjusting…..just give me a couple more weeks. ;)

Kolb is a softy.
The fairy princess
Throws fluffy clouds of cotton.
Another pick 6
No mobility
Sacks, broken bones and fumbles.
Mr. Kolb, you suck.
Pansy quarterbacks
Who can’t throw NFL routes
Should carry clipboards.
Deep outs? No thank you.
Mr. Kolb lacks the arm strength.
Arm needs viagra.
...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

Harris at CB, Hall on the D-Line… The fuck?
Haha, I guess Hall shouldn’t be a surprise, but getting Macho reps at corner is interesting.

Well, Macho has played corner his whole career until last year.
And Hall was a 3-4 OLB, which could certainly translate to 4-3 DE. Not a big jump for either guy.
Follow Bleeding Green Nation on Twitter & Facebook
Except that
Hall is a 250lb former basketball player who reportedly lacks lower body strength. So you’d think his agility would give him an advantage in space, while he’d struggle to fight off OTs.

He and Sapp could be competing for the Joker role
I don’t know much about Alex Hall or his strengths/weaknesses, so I can’t say for sure whether he would fit in such a role, but it seems feasible for a guy who played a lot of LB.

Ingram's
Knee was gonna tear again anyway. Due to the bang up repair job they did in college. But I’m guessing they did it right this time and he’s gonna puch Celek for reps. Maybe even the sleeper this year. I know I’m pulling for him.

lol push celek for reps
I hope the kid DOES, but once again he’s on TWO surgically repaired knees and hasn’t pl ayed football in 2 years…and this kid is going to try and suupplant our 1k yard TE? I mean , I hope he IS that good, but wow those are some serious expectations you got there!!
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
2 bad knees?
did he tear the other knee at some point?…cus he re-tore the same acl that he did in college. he’s only on one bad knee.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Actually,
The kid is suppossed to be THAT good.
Well, lets hold off the "taking reps from celek talk"
til he finally plyas a down in the NFL
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Maybe knot.
(I just felt like spellin it that way.) Maybe he should be a Vick-like project. Make sure people can see what he can do and he would be a great trade if he isn’t needed.
I have nothing bad to say about Celek. If my wife and I were going to a sperm bank for a donor for our children I would put Celek as my third choice, right after Rodney Dangerfield and Chuck Norris.*
But – again only if he is really and truly healed – we can’t just let this level of talent sit on the sidelines.
*for some you younger guys, that was the funniest episode of Saturday Night Live ever, yes that show used to actually be funny, long before the Internet. Legendary.
IF he does end up being as good as he could be minus the knee problems..watch out.
I’m giddy thinking of how nasty our 2 TE sets could be…

I'm not liking the Chaney move
I realize that Stew is our MLB, but God forbid he have another injury the only depth behind him as of right now is Mays and maybe Gaither, while we keep stacking up the outside positions. It doesn’t make sense to me. Chaney might not be a starter, but if Stew even needs to take a breath or so much patch up a scratch, it would be nice to know we have someone who has the actually ability to play the position right come in and sub.
I'll
Be happy if he’s half as good as Celek. We didn’t draft him to sit on the bench, and if i’m right he was more of a receiver than a blocker in college. Celek will most definitly get a second lucrative contract with Philly but depth at tight end will be just as good with me.
