Anybody Want Darren Sharper

Just wondering if you guys would like to take in Darren Sharper?

Saw this article on Pro Football Talk which is a great site

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/08/looking-for-possible-darren-sharper-suitors/

If anything at least he wont be taking Kolbs passes back the other way....Also he could provide leadership and exxperience to a young secondary that we draft hopefully.  Also with Dick Jauron now there maybe this would be a good fit?  Tell me what you guys think.  I miss McNabb :(   but so pumped about our furute...Go birds baby

I would love Darren Sharper

but seeing the eagles new regime, i just dont see it happening. He’s what 35 years old? No matter how good he is, the eagles wont risk sigining a old, and potentially injury prone player. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have dumped 31 year old sheldon Brown.
Maybe, if we didnt sign marlin jackson.

The Post-Super Bowl email

I got from the William & Mary alumni association listed him as “Darren Sharper ’97” which would make him 35.

On the other hand, Mike Tomlin is also a graduate of William & Mary so, given that the past two Super Bowl winners have had a W&M connection, maybe they should sign him.

No. We need someone who can cover and tackle hard, not an older, slower Asante.

If he was cheap, then yes

But he’s not. The only reason he’s even on the market was because New Orleans wanted to show him that he had little value so they could sign him as cheaply as possible; he was demanding quite a bit of money. He’ll be a Saint next year.

Nope

I think we need another young gun at Saftey. This is the guy I would target for this year Reshad Jones. That guy is a BEAST. Here check his High light.

Agreed

This guy looks like a beast in the making, he’s fast, physical, and has good hands. We could get him with one of our second/third round picks and I wouldn’t complain at all.

UGA PLAYER!

You bet

If we can’t get Berry, Thomas, or Nate Allen then Reshad wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize after round 2.

by Smitty2K3 on Apr 9, 2010 7:36 AM EDT up reply actions

I think

He might be a better player then Nate Allen. Hes only a Junior
Here check out the stats on each guy.

Nate Allen

Rashad Jones

He’s also a year younger.

by sowhatifitisasportste on Apr 8, 2010 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions

we can own

why not do both? “rent” sharper and groom a young gun for a season.

yes

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

No thanks.

Sharper sometimes takes bad pursuit angles and the last thing our defense needs is another bad tackler. He’s a ballhawk but I need to feel confident in the tackling abilities of our safeties given our questions at CB.

Want it or not, it's not happening

Just like at least 15 different fanbases have developed their Nnamdi Asomugha trade scenario, just as many have talked about trying to sign Darren Sharper in free agency. There has never been a shred of evidence suggesting that any of those scenarios would materialize.

Officially contributing to worldwide confusion since 1997

No thanks

i doubt the Eagles are going to go after any short term solutions
as I’m sure you see it hasn’t been thier style

I was watching

the 1998 Wildcard game b/e SanFran and GB. I also watched the Divisional game between Phila and GB. Guess who gave the most important pass of the game?

No

Why do people keep looking for old farts to bring in? Especially when its clear the Eagles are building for the future.
