I know we can be very divergent in our opinions, but at the end of the blog wars, we come together united! Even Joe_D and EvilBanner high five during Eagle victories. Wild_Eagle and Trade Kolb break bread when their beloved Eagles win divisions and championships! RIGHT??? With no particular position in mind such as calling for Kolb to be replaced, Andy Reid fired or Mike Vick starting, what does the BGN Faithful think is acceptable for this year?
I know we have not had the draft yet. But my hunch through 40 years of watching football, specifically the Eagles, is that even teams that have excellent success in the draft don't do very well right away. The team may find some players, but they take a year or two before they become a stud team. Our most hated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys who are actually "Philadelphia South" (The ingrates!) because of at least some history that seems to link their name to the prominent Dallas family of Philadelphia origins and of whom includes businessmen and a senator, stockpiled players and draft picks in a 1989 blockbuster trade. The Cowboys were 1-15 that year. But they improved to 7-9 in 1990 and 11-5 in 1991. Before the 1-15 1989 year, they had 3 losing seasons. 1985 was the last winning season at 10-6. This is the team to me, that most closely reminds me of our current draft pick rich birds.
With the number of draft picks the Eagles have in this draft and the reported player rich draft this is supposed to be, I suspect the front office will build a winner. But how long will it take? How far will we fall in 2010? And since we already have a good base on offense, I think we have 3 tasks at hand. Retooling the defense and possibly the O-line. We also need to get Kevin Kolb reps and experience. It appears we probably won't fall to the depths of the Cowboys. But what if we do falter mightily this year due to this rebuilding process? My question is, does the BGN Faithful feel that it is acceptable for the 2010 Eagles to be a loser? I'm trying to gage just how much faith there is that even if we field a loser, that this team is going to turn it around due to the youth movement via the draft as did the 1990's Cowgirls. From where we are today and what we know, is it acceptable for the 2010 Eagles to be a loser? (Meaning under .500) Yes or No
