Thank-you for all of the great 10 years you have had shared with us Eagles fans. Even though many Eagle fans wanted Ricky Williams, and booed the decision to draft you, you have stayed classy. Donovan, you have showed us that you were the right choice. When us fans finally saw you play, we were wowed. You brought hope and joy to us and spoiled us with many winning seasons and bringing the Eagles to the playoffs 8 out of the 10 years you were here. We wish you could have brought a Superbowl championship to Philly, and certainly we would have enjoyed parading down the streets in jubilation and chanting your name.
In the beginning, I just wanted the Eagles to trade you, but when the trade actually went down, tonight, on Easter Sunday, I thought, just thought that Andy was right. Andy was right in asking you of your approval if you wanted to rather go to the Redskins or the Raiders. It is only right to treat you as a future HOF. You have done so much for us Eagle fans, and some of us, myself included haven't appreciated you enough.
I hope you enjoy your time in Washington Donovan. When you come back to Philly, some fans may boo you. I know for sure that I will be chanting your name in admiration and thanks at the stands screaming DONOVAN! DONOVAN! at the top of my lungs.
Andy Reid said it best tonight at the press conference after the Eagles have traded you. Donovan, you are the best Quarterback in the Eagles franchise history.
I just hope that you can retire as an Eagle one day. Jason Elam signed a 1-day contract with Denver to be retired as a Bronco. Maybe they will consider that for you. I know for sure I would nod my head in approval if the Eagles decided to do that.
Thanks again for all the great times you have had with us in Philly.
Love you Donovan,
