McNabb WANTED to go to the Redskins*
*After being told his other options were the bills and the raiders
First off, watch vid
So maybe not "want" to leave, but according to Sal Paolantonio, the Raiders and Bills were first in line for the McNabb sweepstakes, but Donovan refused to go there. Reid wanted to make sure McNabb would go somewhere where he would like to go. Shanahan and Reid started talking about 4 days ago, and McNabb had no problem going to the Redskins. Interesting stuff
And, sorry for adding to the massive outbreak of fanposts, but thought people would like to know this
UPDATE
McNabb, who is in the final year of his deal, made this happen by making it clear he wasn’t going anywhere else but Washington. When the Buffalo Bills expressed interest – and even were willing to give McNabb a contract extension – he passed on the offer. When the Oakland Raiders sniffed around and showed willingness to trade for the quarterback without an extension, McNabb indicated to the Eagles through his associates that he’d retire.
Pretty much, wow.

wow
eagles will suck next year 6-10 season
they will suck
Ill admit im mad but we are rebuilding. We will bad for the next three years but we will have a good young team. But dont expect a super bowl anytime soon. Mcnabb was our best option to win the super bowl next year.

I misread
I thought you said Eagles will suck for the next 6-10 seasons. But we’ll still be good next year, and competitive. Superbowl bound (next year)? Probably not, but competitive nonetheless.
Next year probably won't be pretty
I think long term, this was the right move for the Eagles
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
it doesnt matter now
fans everywhere are agreeing we just made a big mistake
Seriously.
Any sane man would pick the Redskins over the Raiders
eff you we winning anyway
A.I. IS BACKKKKKKK
deepest draft in years, they are trying to load up to geat another great haul
to go with the young core…. if you can’t even half agree with this idea than you’re not looking at it hard enough. They believe in Kolb, and that is their decision not yours.

That quote needs an asterisk
Mcnabb wanted to go to the redskins*

I think this was a nice gesture on Reid's part
Making sure McNabb goes to a team where he would be able to have a chance to succeed.
It was a nice gesture
if the other compensation we were going to get from them was not equal to what we got. If Buffalo or Oakland were willing to give up more, then it was a dumb business decision.
That being said, I think we did not get enough for a player of McNabbs quality. I am not saying he was worth their 1st, straight up, but our 1st and McNabb for their 1st and a player or late pick(this year) should have been the price. A 2nd this year and a 3rd this year(cause seriously, do you see him not making whatever their performance enhancer is?) feels like a giant win for them if he can even get them to 9-7. Before you say that won’t happen, realize that they are now officially an O-line away from being very dangerous. Thomas showed promise last year, Cooley and Fred Davis are both outstanding, Moss is older but still fast, and the trio of Parker, Portis, and Johnson behind a Shanahan led attack, can be very good. You add in the fact that their defense is top notch, you got a dangerous team. If there’s one person who is comparable at drafting and molding an excellent O line with us, it would be Shanahan. The Redskins just became a pain in the ass. We will still beat them though because I hate Daniel Snyder.

How the trade went down ...
