Raiders prepare to cut Jamarcus Russell.
Seeing the raiders prepare to cut jamarcus russell makes me question that Kafka pick even more. I would take this guy over any of mid-late round QBs to be our 3rd string QB. Say what you will about him, he is as naturally talented as anyone in the league. Getting out of Oakland and a couple years of holding clipboards (and carrying equipment bags) might get through to him.
Players we could have picked instead of Kafka (pick 122) that could have helped this squad.
- Zoltan Mesko (pick 150) - wouldnt have even been a competition between him and sav
- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (126) - Who do we have returning kicks this year?? his potential play at CB would have been a bonus.
- Matt Tenant (158) - a center that could have battled with cole to hold down the center spot until JJ gets healthy
I know this post is going to be horribly received but the idea of drafting Kolb's backup plan before getting him any help pisses me off to no end.

I know. Giving him Jason Peters as a LT, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, and Jason Avant as his 1-2-3 receivers, having Brent Celek as the TE, and have a good young back in LeSean McCoy behind him is not giving him help at all…
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
And you seriously want to try to work with a guy that doesn’t have any work ethic and completed less than half his passes last year?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
yeah
a couple years of holding a clip board is just more years of him getting paid for not working. This is an awful post
Let's get it Birds.

Pick up Jamarcus Russell?
I’m concerned about your grasp of the NFL if you think this will help us at all…

All just developmental guys. No more or less likely to help than a developmental QB.
We’ve got guys to compete at C. They signed Shipley off the Steelers practice squad, McGlynn is there to compete. They also signed a punter this offseason.

Have you seen Russell play?
And what the hell does that have to do with the Kafka pick in the first place?

Haha, agreed. Why the hell would the Eagles draft Jamar Chaney when the Pats were about to release Adalius Thomas?!? Idiots.

Why bother with Russell? We don’t want to fix someone else’s mistakes, we want to develop our QB from the ground up.
Also, the Pats reached for Mesko. I don’t give a damn if you’re the best punter in the history of the world, punters aren’t worth more than a 7th rounder, and you can easily find punters as undrafted free agents or in free agency.
I am the people's troll :3™
Agreed on Mesko
Never is drafting a punter/kicker justified until the 7th round, and only then, you should draft if it is absolutely necessary. The Giants’ pick of Matt Dodge was better than the Pats’ getting Mesko on that basis.

Russel could be a C, but he would be the kinda small(would be #29 in terms of weight based off every teams starting C last season)

I think (in H/W ratios)
he’s fatter than King Dunlap. New backup OT?

As a Raider fan...I am laughing my ass off right now.
I think when people are being funny, they are actually being serious and when people are being serious, it's actually really funny.

We didn't draft Kolbs backup plan
we drafted vicks replacement, unless we bring in another wildcat guy (who would have to be number 2 on the chart, but not in our heart), which case he’s still the future starter if kolb get’s hurt. I think Vick will def get the start next year if Kolb is hurt.
