Only one I've heard any reports on
is Simonds. Don’t believe I’ve heard of any one else besides Elliott.
Berries are nice, but Graham crackers taste pretty good too.
I read the West Texas A&M one
last night. D2 so it stood out.

Is pretty reliable. Not a big list of our Eagles, but should produce a little competition at training camp.
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
i’m more interested in who the eagles sent offers to [right now, not so much who accepted until next weekend]

The only question I have about this team is offensive line depth
Both depth that can make the roster and just camp bodies. Right now I count just ten O lineman on the roster right now and one of them is Jamal Jackson and who knows when he will be ready to play again.
Let's get it Birds.
Yeah, I was thinking they'd use UDFAs to try to unearth
an Artis Hicks-type gem, but from the list of names so far, it looks like a bunch of camp bodies at skill positions.
Further proof that they have either 100% confidence in the OL they have, or they have something up their sleeve.
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
yeah...
13 picks and seeral URFA’s and absolutely no O Linemen. Andy Reid must have lost a bet or somehin..
Thinking the same thing
I expected them to draft a C at the URFA position. Guess it is Cole/McGlynn. Yeah.
Basically if Peters/Justice goes down, this team if FUBARed. Answers are either Dunlap or moving Herremans/Andrews out to the T and hoping they handle any edge rushers with speed and blitzes from an outside position.
I have to believe that Dunlap doesn't survive camp
He was just dreadful . No way he makes the roster.
Sometimes it's just fun to take the family for a spin around the lake in the old boat. Even if it's not your family or your boat, and they're screaming for you to stop.

Stacy can also move to the right tackle spot, he played well there in Cincy. Gilles, McGlynn, or Reynolds can play RG. This is the first time in Reid’s 11 years here, he didn’t select an O-linemen in the draft. He must know something we don’t.

Wow
We didn’t pick up any Offensive Lineman and only one Cornerback! Gotta think theya re either gonna try to pick up one of the available vets or they think what they’ve got is pretty good.
Figured they would grab some undrafties for the line.

Does the fact that we have absolutely no OL here mean the FO is confident in who we already have?
by jufr18 on Apr 25, 2010 9:27 AM EDT via mobile reply actions
I think it is a long-term plan
I don’t think Andy Reid sees the team as a SB contender in 2010 (too young). Probably makes a big splash in the first round for an OL in next year’s draft. Think about it: unless the team only wins 3 or 4 games, Andy will be back (he can always point to the youth of the team if the record is bad). He saw the immediate deficiencies were mainly on defense and tried to address them. Look for them to trade up in the first round next year and get a top OL.

Pretty much he basically just made this team younger to do what he did with Donovan, spend the next 5 years building a super bowl winning team, so much young talent on this roster and potential.

Just wanted to point out that I totally called the no offensive linemen being taken.
I am the people's troll :3™
You did and it was a pretty bold call that panned out. I thought for sure they would grab 1-2 lineman in the mid-later rounds especially an OT.
Capers would of been a steal though at that point in the draft, really was surprised that Reid didn’t take iupati when they moved up. Seemed like something he would do.

I recall you saying, no O-linemen will be taken high but not in the entire draft. You did have the Eagles taking Capers in the 4th and Hickman in the 7th in your mock. Still was a good call regardless.

Anyone know
what became of Villanova’s Matt Szcur. He’s a bit on the small side (desean jackson), but an unbelievable dual threat.
That's a shame
I watched him in the FCS Championship game and he looked like he could be a real difference-maker at the next level.
wow
hearing that names brings back some memories .. im pretty sure its the same kid .. but if it is he went to lower cape may .. we played them in lower cape may my senior year .. he was their whole team .. we absoultly crushed them .. by over 3 tds .. but this little motherfucker .. i believe he was a sophmore at the time ? he comes out and trys a field goal .. it had to be over 50 easy .. it was far .. nails it .. south jersey record .. i just remember them anouncing it over speaker as a new sj record .. he was good player .. one of the best i ever played against .. and the others were albert young .. ran all over us in the playoffs my freshman year .. i seen shon greene play .. we scrimaged him .. and this kid anthony scirotto from west deptford .. i dunno wha ever happend to him .. i think he went to penn state .. not sure tho

Andy: (crying) “One!? can’t I just have 1?!”
Roseman: “No Andy you already have had enough”
Andy: (whining) “But, But, But I just want one more, just one!”
Roseman: “Alright, you can have one, but no more, not until next year”
Andy: “YAYYYYY!!!!!”

He was 16 at the time. The fact that she wad 15 isn’t that relevant. Sister part is another story, obviously.

Who knew Colgate the toothpaste company had a respectable football program?
by Dontyouhatepantsdotnet on Apr 25, 2010 6:55 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
What a comedian?!
It is actually a great school with a beautiful campus in upstate NY. I went there a few yrs ago for a Syracuse lacrosse game.
They had a good RB a few yrs ago, who got signed somewhere I think but lost track of him.
my sister goes there
harder to get in than most Ivy’s, and harder than all of them
by birds'n'raiders on Apr 25, 2010 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions
i never understood
what that means
college is what you make of it, if you take hard classes anywhere they’re hard classes.
as far as the harder to get into than most ivies, that’s factually inaccurate
From their application website:
How many students apply and what is the acceptance rate?
For the Class of 2013, we received 7,814 applications. Of those, we admitted 2,461, or 31.5 percent.
Their early decision acceptance rate is 60%, regular decision is 31%
Note for ivies that total % is a combination of regular + early, unlike Colgate #s above which have total % and separated %’s.
Ivies = Total % / Early %
Brown = 11% / 21%
Columbia = 11% / 19%
Cornell = 21% / 31%
Dartmouth = 13% / 35%
Harvard = 8% / NA
Penn = 17% / 34%
Princeton = 10% / NA
Yale = 9% / NA
http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/ivy_league_table.asp
Note, Colgate is a f’ng incredible school. This isn’t a knock on it, it’s just a fact check. Colgate is easily one of the top schools in the country (and the world).
/ end off-topic
that just has to do with applicant pools
acceptance depends on grades, SAT’s & what major you’re going for and school size (Cornell is one of the biggest & has a school for Hotel Administration and Management, yes you go to cornell, no you do not have a real major)

there're other stats there
average sat’s etc, but it’s all typically ivies = 1980 – 2300 (25th percentile/75th percentile), % students in top 10% of class (penn comes in #1 w/ 99%), etc. It’s basically incontrovertible that selection wise the Ivies are at the top (along with Deep Springs and Stanford/MIT/CalTech, etc). Colgate is highly selective, just not as much so as ivy schools.
Also, your proposed major matters almost 0 except when applying for a specific program (e.g. Penn Nurses apply as nurses, and it’s difficult ish to get out of that major)
u sir are 100% wrong
example: getting in to UPENN when applying for business is a lot harder than applying for let’s say history

that's wrong
it’s just wrong, Wharton school has a different acceptance rate than the College or Nursing, which is exactly what I said. However, applying for the College with a notion of majoring in “economics” or “finance” or “consumer psychology” gives you no better a chance than applying with a proposed major of “history.” Half of Penn’s incoming students are proposed Pre-Meds, yet less than half of that group end up actually majoring in Pre-Med. Admissions officers know this (this is verbatim what they told me), and they give proposed majors almost 0 consideration except to compare to high school course grades.
That said, if you want to major in something less mainstream like, say, Linguistics, and you write your essays about Linguistics, and talk about how you want to be a Linguistics Professor when you grow up, and mention how Penn Professor of Linguistics X has helped define your goals, that’ll help your application stand out. But, the vast majority of the time, proposed major within a school of application has little to no bearing.
I would still not be surprised if we brought in O-Line
I think we’re comfortable where we are (coaching staff is, anyway), but I hope we bring in at least a few more bodies in case of injuries.
My theory is we liked a few o-line, but they A) weren’t good value where we had a chance at them, B) weren’t there when we would have picked them, and C) we may feel our o-line is good this year.
My other theory D) is that we think next year’s o-line class could have a lot of talent/depth to it, and felt our line this year was good enough (and there was enough rare high-end talent at other positions) that it was better to address stuff like pass rush this year, since pass rush is hard to come by and there were a lot of special ones this year.
