With the 244th overall pick the Philadelphia Eagles select DB Kurt Coleman
The Eagles have made their final pick of the 2010 NFL draft and it's Kurt Coleman, DB from Ohio State. I guess he becomes the Eagles' own "Mister Irrelevant."
Quick take on the 5-10 192lb Coleman
Coleman is a bit of a tweener (size, speed) prospect for the next level. He doesn’t have great size for the safety position but lacks great pure speed to play out on the perimeter. Coleman is a fierce competitor that is aggressive defending the run as well as the pass. He has good intelligence in understanding schemes but can be inconsistent in his run support angles and can be out of position at times. Coleman is quicker than fast and may fit best in sub packages (nickel back) as he doesn’t have outstanding recovery speed and burst to cover top receivers. Coleman has solid ball skills but needs to play with more consistency in his technique (peddle, pad level, leveraging receivers and ball carriers). He should be a contributor on special teams as a rookie but may take some time to get on the field defensively.

We never took a single offensive lineman. What happen to Andy Reid? Went on vacation?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
More like..
Tom Heckert went on vacation. Apparently he must be the reason why we were taking all those fatties. Either that or Roseman does not like fatties.
If I'm goin' to hell, you're coming with me...
hey i wasnt too happy about taking a guy from michigan in the first round...
so this helps make up for it. even though he probably wont make the team
Bit of a homer, but
Coleman was the heart and soul of one of the best defenses in the country last year. He was a multi-year starter, a team captain, and an all-big-ten selection. He had I think four picks, two forced fumbles, and another one that should have been had the refs been on their game. He doesn’t have the best size, but he was on the short list for the Lott trophy and one of the best college safeties in the country. Most of what I remember him for was he seemed to take his shutouts seriously. OSU’s defense had three last year, and every time it looked like they were going to let some mercy points go he’d come up with a pick or force a fumble.
Who knows how well his game projects, but you’ve at least gotten yourself a true competitor.
