With the 159th overall pick the Philadelphia Eagles select WR Riley Cooper
With the 28th pick in the 5th round the Eagles have selected Riley Cooper, WR Florida.
Eagles cheerleaders took the stage along with some members of the armed forces to announce the pick. Sgt First class Mark Pierre made the call.
Cooper is a big possesion type WR at 6-3, 222. NFL.com quick take
Cooper enjoyed an extremely productive senior year as he caught 51 passes for 961 yards in Florida’s spread offense. He is a bit of a strider that builds to speed and can struggle when he needs to sink his hips to come out of his breaks with a big burst to separate from defenders. He can struggle on his release against a good press corner and will need some work on running more precise routes. He has baseball for an option but has stated that he wants to play football first and baseball as a backup.
Amazingly enough, Riley Cooper was drafted by the Phillies in 2006!
Cooper was later drafted and signed by the Texas Rangers, but decided to forfeit his 500K bonus to return to Florida and focus on football. He's known as a great blocker and a good special teamer. Plus, he was Tebow's roommate! OMG!

Nice
I really like this pick! He is a big guy. Nice redzone target, I think he was a bit underrated by draftnics around the league. He got great value at the end of the 5th. So we got now to big dudes in Harbor and Cooper, maybe it will help us to solve our RZ issues?
Can he take Hamel’s spot in the rotation?
Jim Johnson(RIP). Brian Westbrook(36). Donovan Mcnabb(5). Brian Dawkins(20). Sheldon Brown(24). Jeremiah Trotter(54).
Thanks for the memories...
he gave up 4 home runs yesterday

Where's a pick
For the oline. I know we needed a big receiver but that’s what Baskett is for.

Some analysis from a Gator
He’s the BEST blocking WR in the draft and has great speed. He’s a deep threat and can go across the middle too which is great in the red zone.
The problem is he’s a head-case and if he’s not getting enough reps in the NFL he could always go to baseball. When he makes a bad play he has a hard time getting over it. Some have questioned his work ethic too.

The more I think about it
The more I love this draft. Going defensive for both starters and depth. And then that TE and now Cooper.
Now, wtf at out O-line? Does Reid really think who we have are enough?
O-line
Theoretically, if Andrews is ready and able to play well, our o-line is set.
Yomjoseki thinks McGlynn might be the new starting center based on his having worked with Kolb. If that’s true, then we have a line of Peters – Herremans – McGlynn or Cole – Cole or Andrews – Justice
It would be nice to have a little confirmation on that front though.
What I want to know is this: does Tebow snore?
Officially contributing to worldwide confusion since 1997
Riley
Anyone who can catch a ball from low-performance tebow is good with me lol
