7 (244) Compensatory Pick

The Eagles recently traded their one and only fifth round draft pick for WILL Linebacker Ernie Sims. He will step in and start immediately and be a consistent tackler for the  defense for years to come.

On the the mock....

At 24 I'd like to see the Eagles take a shot at trading up and getting Sean Weatherspoon, OLB Missouri OR Earl Thomas, FS Texas. With that said, I don't think they do it. This draft is very deep so I think they will stay put and take advantage of the immense talent still available at 24. With this pick I think the Eagles will select Devin McCourty, CB Rutgers. His stock is currently on the rise after a fantastic showing in this year's combine and his impressive film. he stands at 5'11" 195 lbs. He ran a swift 4.38 40 and had a solid 36 inch vertical. This guy doesn't mind hitting and definitely looks like an "Eagles" type of corner.

Next, at 37. I can see the Eagles trading the pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their next year's first. With that said, I can think there is a better chance that the Eagles keep the pick and reap the benefits of this years deep deep deep draft. Right here, the Eagles can draft another great corner...yes two corners in a row...sound familiar? Kareem Jackson from Alabama is another corner that looks like an "Eagles" corner. He loves to hit and flourishes in man coverage. This guy will be a beast. He also stands around 5'11" 195 lbs. He ran a 4.40 40 and had a 37.5 inch vertical.

Still in the second round....the Eagles have the 55th pick. Right here the Eagles will pick another player for their secondary under the great Dick Jauron. There is a chance that Nate Allen is available. If he is there the Eagles will most likely pull the trigger on him. I personally think he will be gone so I predict that the Eagles select Morgan Burnett the Safety from Georgia Tech. Burnett stands at 6'2" 210 lbs and ran a 4.51 40. He also did 16 reps on the bench press. he does just about everythng well, with excellent awareness and reaction in man and zone coverage, and he can be intimidating as a hitter. I really like this guy.

Now for the third round. Our beloved Eagles have the 70th pick. This pick will be used to fill our small hole at SAM. I like Fokou but I like this next guy much much more. His name is AJ Edds. I'm sure most of us have heard of him as he was a stud at the University of Iowa. He is a great cover linebacker and is a good tackler as well. Just what the Eagles need.

Still in the third. With the 87th pick the Eagles will select JD Walton. The Center from Baylor. He stands at 6'3" 300 lbs. He is a monster who will start for the Eagles right away.

With the 105th pick, the Eagles will look for a backup quarterback. There are three quarterbacks the Eagles will consider taking here....Jarrett Brown (if we trade Vick), John Skelton, Tony Pike. Assuming Vick stays I think the Eagles will take Pike from Cincinnati. If they do trade Vick Brown will be the pick. Brown could take over the wildcat duties and could also develop into a great quarterback for trade bait (groom him then trade him).

The Birds also have the 121st pick. They will take Greg Hardy, the defensive end from Ole Miss. He has some motor issues but if the Eagles can wake him up, he will provide first round talent in the fourth round. It is definitely worth the risk.

We are now in the sixth round, 200. With this pick they will take Kevin Haslem. He is an offensive guard and another Rutgers boy. He is pretty slow but Castillo can help him out. At worst, he will provide nice depth.

The last two picks, the Eagles have picks 243 and 244. With these two picks the Eagles will pick, Adrian Tracy the OLB from William & Mary, and Thomas Welch OT from Vandy.

That concludes my mock for the Eagles picks. I hope you liked it. Express your thoughts below. I would love for this to happen personally.
