Around SBN: Despite Relocation Drama, Coyotes Overcome Adversity

The Eagles have just completed a trade that will send Sheldon Brown and Chris Gocong to the Browns in exchange for SAM linebacker Alex Hall, a 4th round pick, and a 5th round pick. More on this development to come.

Who is Alex Hall?

Anyone have any info about him?

Don’t know much about Hall but I guess I am fine with the 4th and 5th round picks since they can help us trade up.

Jesus Christ

Who’s gonna play corner now? That need goes to the top of our list.

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

We couldn’t even get a starter back?

Terrible

Instead of filling a need, the Eagles have created yet another one. They have made some all right moves thus far this off-season but this one is just head-scratching. Terrible terrible deal.

What alright move have they made?

Cutting Curtis, Andrews, trading for Tapp, re-signing Avant and Weaver, etc. etc.

I am the people's troll :3™

by yomjoseki on Apr 2, 2010 12:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I forgot about all our re-signs. We re-signed all the good people and got rid of some useless players (Reggie Brown, Curtis, Shawn Andrews, etc.)

by Justin F. on Apr 2, 2010 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Darrel Tapp (we don’t know much about him, but Seahawk fans were pissed as hell at that deal), Bobby April as a special teams coach, Dick Jauron as a secondary coach (that will help our young DBs immensely).

But unless the Eagles have a plan to steal a Top-10 pick in the draft (or somehow trade McNabb and picks for Asomugha and picks), this trade is mind-baffling.

Weaver, Avant extended

Andrews restructured, lots of dead weight cut

by IronHank on Apr 2, 2010 12:11 PM EDT up reply actions

You are all right, I was thinking more in terms of brining in talent to fix our weaknesses. I do like Tapp and think he will be good and certainly I am agree with everyone who got an extension…except for Banner, but yeah, I was thinking of guys this team brought in.

by EREX21 on Apr 2, 2010 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions

The only possible explanation

is that the Eagles want to wheel and deal on draft day.

I’m all for young players, but does this team not realize that veteran leadership is a good thing?

I think we have been played

I don’t see any news of this anywhere

right, and the headline is " BIG DEAL FOR EAGLES" wtf

by daveG10 on Apr 2, 2010 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions

i know…maybe big deal to us fans for the bullshit they just pulled

by jayfire137 on Apr 2, 2010 12:09 PM EDT up reply actions

wow

Alex is a big dude!!!! thats all I know about him.lol

Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) Weight: 250 lb (113 kg)

Tackles 17
Sacks 3
Interceptions 0

by GoEagles on Apr 2, 2010 12:11 PM EDT reply actions

I expected a 3 and a 4 for this to make it work.

Or at least DQ.

I’m not unhappy, since brown was going next year anyway. My primary feeling is there’s another shoe dropping on this.

The eagles took whatever because they were clearly interested in picks to package, or they do have a plan for cb already.

The real question is… hobbs, hanson, harris, or marlin. Whose #2 corner and whose safety, provided we do not draft a start/drafted start is clearly someone on a short bus?

by corn on the kolb on Apr 2, 2010 12:11 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

ehh

it pisses me off that they didnt get a 3rd .. but they got a high fourth and a ffth for sheldon .. thats not too bad i supose .. that 4th is still a good pick

by jack is better than asante on Apr 2, 2010 12:12 PM EDT reply actions

Stupid trade. Why would they trade Sheldon Brown. He was playing his best football last year. In stead of rewarding him they get some bum and draft pics. Smh.

by 5IVE on Apr 2, 2010 12:14 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

i guess...

it could be worse…but basically was swapped a shitty linebacker for a shitty linebacker….and then got a 4th and 5th for sheldon

by jayfire137 on Apr 2, 2010 12:14 PM EDT reply actions

We can’t get another sheldon with a 4th or 5th round pick

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Apr 2, 2010 12:15 PM EDT up reply actions

and you know this how?....can i borrow your crystal ball

we have a decent set of backups that can fill in for now…but this basically furthers the point that we are in fact rebuilding

by jayfire137 on Apr 2, 2010 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t want Hobbs as the starter. We had a top 5 corner duo, now we have the starting corners for the defense that blew that ’07 Superbowl. How is this good?

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Apr 2, 2010 12:19 PM EDT up reply actions

i hear ya on that one

But we have the following options…(and i know…they still dont make up for sheldon…he was my favorite player after dawk left)…..marlin jackson, ellis hobbs, macho harris….none of them are fit to start….but maybe a bit of time with jauron will help

by jayfire137 on Apr 2, 2010 12:21 PM EDT up reply actions

yea

but we can get kyle wilson or patrick robinson with a high pick .. and then be set for next few years .. this team is young .. we need young players .. if we get a 2nd for mcnabb .. we will have a 1st two 2nds .. two thirds .. and two fourths .. thats a lot of young talent to add

by jack is better than asante on Apr 2, 2010 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions

We also need veteran leadership to help all the young players, especially on the defense where it is severely lacking.

Major "wtf?"

Gah…I don’t get it. Now, what do we do for corner?

by LegendKnight22 on Apr 2, 2010 12:16 PM EDT reply actions

The writing is on wall: Goodbye Donovan

But having said that… this is a terrible trade for Eagles.

Good trade for Cleveland. We got hosed.

by Smitty2K3 on Apr 2, 2010 12:17 PM EDT reply actions

Eagles now have 10 picks

1st Round (24th overall)
2 (55)
3 (70)
3 (87)
4 (105) – from CLE
4 (121)
5 (137) – from CLE
6 (200)
7 (243)
7 (244)

by Smitty2K3 on Apr 2, 2010 12:17 PM EDT reply actions

the rich are getting richer

lots of cap space so they better spread it around to desean, kevin or donovan, or something fucking cheap bastards. Total re-building i guess.

Asoumougha (sp) is on the way?

He'd better be

If this was the case

It would change my opinion completely.

Right now though we’re in bad, bad shape on defense. (in the secondary especially)

2

7th rounders competing for sam. The eagles really dont value their linebackers

"Bleed green for life my nocos"

by nocostyle on Apr 2, 2010 12:21 PM EDT reply actions

Or they are

going to draft a first/3rd rounder to compete with them

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Apr 2, 2010 12:25 PM EDT up reply actions

problem is….now we have more holes to fill wiuth our early picks…dio we get a cb early, a linebacker, a safety, a lineman, or a DE….maybe thats why were stocking up on picks…throw in a mcnabb trade and we might just be ok….and then maybe this year will be shitty….but the future is the key

by jayfire137 on Apr 2, 2010 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Like I said

Hate to see Sheldon go, but understand. I still will root for him. I’m willing to see who Alex Hall is before I judge him. Wish we could have gotten a 3rd at least for him but all it could have been worse. I’m surprised we got anything for Gocong.

by macjack09 on Apr 2, 2010 12:43 PM EDT reply actions

From what I read, he is comparable to Gocong minus Gocong’s experience.
