Marlin Jackson Visits

PrintMarlin Jackson is supposedly visiting Novacare as of 3pmJ ason Avant's agents also handle Marlin Jackson, the Colts CB/safety who will visit NovaCare after stopping by Baltimore today. Jackson didn't sign with the Ravens, and I'm told he'll be at NovaCare by 3 p.m. I wouldn't be at all shocked to see him end up signing here, ACL issues notwithstanding -- as your presumptive starting free safety.

ive always been interested in moving sheldon to FS but then that opens up an even bigger hole at CB2. Even if we sign MJackson he isnt anything but a cover 2 cb and would get his lunch money stolen in our type of system.
As much as his tackling/divaness scares me I had some hope we might get involved in the antonio cromartie trade talks.

Im not
sure how to feel about this. It will be Demps an unproven S who is best remembered for him falling down on the flea flicker play and his late hit penalty in the NFC Champ game, Harris a college CB who was presently absent at the S position last year, Jones who missed tackles like he had money on the game, and Jackson 2 knee injuries in two years all competing for our FS position. Now thats a Motley crew!

i’d really like the move if it was for some cb/s depth. a guy who can play two positions fairly well is always a good adition.
BUT i will not like this move if this is the ‘answer’ for the FS question. Can we not just have a pure Free Safety?

IDK man i rally dont, ui would think that these guys woulda learned their lesson by now , but watever if im wrong about Marlin ill be the first 2 admit it but why in the FUK r we gonna sign another guy coming of a serious injury which not only happened once 2 him but twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather take a chance on developing a Chad Jones type player or Nate Allen each who could be had in the 2nd or 3d round.
Why the hell isn't Atogwe comming in for a visit yet.
He is the best safety in all of FA. Yes better than Rolle, yes better than Bethea. And we can get him for NOTHING!!! Hes only a year older than Rolle and is second only to Ed Reed in interceptions. i really want the guy to succeed considering his back story, he just had big shoes to fill.
Yeah, everyones expectations are way wacked out w/ him...
He’s not all that bad, he’s a decent tackler, and he’s showed promise in coverage(see the ATL game)
I think he just needs time to Develop, he’s way better than Demps though.

Thats what I see in the ATL game. So what because Gonzalez didn’t get a 100 yards or a TD, Harris had a good game covering him? lol. No Harris is not a FS. Harris is not a SS. Harris is a number 4 CB if he is lucky. This guy was truly awful last year, in every way imaginable. People want to get on other players for inconsistency, how about the same goes for every position. The only benefit I give Harris is it was his rookie year in what many players call one of the most difficult defenses to learn. But he was so bad, he didn’t even look like maybe he had future potential so I guess we will see.

Not right now, but in another year maybe. I think he’ll start eventuall, but in the meantime we need to find a short-term replacement and a young guy to take over for Mikell eventually.

I've been saying that for weeks and weeks..
I’m saying Macho needs to learn behind Mikell and be the SS in a year or two, Mikell will be 30 by the start of the regular season I believe so I’m thinking that grooming his replacement instead of having a Dawkins scenerio would be great…
I think Macho would make a fantastic SS.
