Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

According to Adam Schefter's Twitter feed, Eagles OL Stacy Andrews has restructured his contract for 2010, dropping his base salary from $2.95 million to $1.15 million after a very disappointing 2009 season. Looks like he'll be sticking around for another year.

Same here

If we thought he was a good signing and we knew about the ACL, one subpar season is a little too soon to give up on him.

But the restructuring is a good kick in the nuts for sucking in Year One and a warning not to repeat said performance.

i like it.

less money, another year away from the injury. now to get shawn’s ass on the field..

by Q27 on Mar 8, 2010 6:15 PM EST reply actions

I’m fine with this as well. ACL injuries are 12-month injuries, so he at least deserves this offseason and training camp to show he’s back. If he doesn’t show you anything in camp, then you release him.

He owes it to the Eagles

Well...

who didn’t see this coming? It was either that or getting cut and working for the league minimum.

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

Wish his Sister would do the same thign....

Considering all the money he ran away with…this is Good, Stacy has something to prove now. No excuses about the knee I hope.

Oorah!

Let’s get the Andrew brothers to get their asses in gear!

Encouraging.

It shows he thinks he still has something to prove. I’m sure he’d love to come back, rock asses, and get to say ‘how ya like me now?’

Here’s hoping it happens that way.

good

i want to see him contribute on our oline. I havent given up hope on the super line of:
Peters-Herramans-Jackson(?)-Andrews-Andrews

To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

No Jackson, at least not for about the first 6 weeks. Can Stacy play center? We could just shift the entire right side down and leave Justice at RT (where he should be regardless of what happens to the Andrews).

Anyone know how much money we've saved so far this off season?

Where is AndrewB when you need him!?!?!

Possible starter

The Eagles figure Andrews will be the running at RG and probably the frontrunner especially if they don’t resign Cole.

Really they just need to pick up another C and backup RB and the offensive is just about set this offseason. I would like to see them resign Cole too but as a backup. Likely going to need a solid interior backup lineman with two Gs who have had their share (Herremans, Andrews) on injury problems the past 2+ seasons.

by MG77 on Mar 8, 2010 7:41 PM EST reply actions

Cole is here at least another year. They gave him a second round tender, so if no one offers a Cole a contract (which would require them surrendering a 2nd round pick) and his rights are not traded, his only option is to sign for the 2nd round tender amount or be out of the league.

Cole is an automatic

also because he played well enough to be back and has two-position versatility.

by D3Keith on Mar 8, 2010 8:08 PM EST up reply actions

Well, I agree the Eagles would’ve brought him back regardless.

I was just pointing out that regardless of all signs pointing to Cole returning, he has the choice of getting paid and playing or sitting on his ass and not getting paid, because no one’s going to offer a 2nd for him. Maybe the Eagles work a trade for him, but I find it highly unlikely. He is vital to our depth and valuable to us and us alone.

GOOOOD.................

Its about freakin time, thats the first good thing hes done since becoming a Eagle, Now he has 2 knock sum fukin sense into his lil brother so they can be the monsters we all envisioned last spring.

by goldenbird09 on Mar 8, 2010 7:45 PM EST reply actions

If he didn't restucture

They would have cut his a$$ and I bet he would have been setting out in FA for quite a while unless he took a bargain rate deal. Even now with a base of $1.15M, he is really not making much more than the veteran league minimum which will be in the mid-700k range this season.

by MG77 on Mar 8, 2010 7:59 PM EST reply actions

If you want to say someone sucked last year

It was Stacy Andrews. He was the worst player they had on offensive hands down. Rushed back and terribly ineffective from the get go.

Don't wanna take away from Andrews

but does anyone know when Jackson is supposed to visit the Eagles this week? I’ve been lookin at can’t find it. Also, when is Bell supposed to drop by?

For the Love of the Game

by ForTheLove on Mar 8, 2010 8:34 PM EST reply actions

Both Andrews should be cut and Bell should be signed.

by jdavis89 on Mar 8, 2010 8:37 PM EST reply actions

he should be paying the eagles for the $2.95M he stole last year. hopefully the past injuries and whatever else allow the brothers to play this year to help solidify the line.

Chase Utley is so good that on one pitch he stole second, third and the shortstop's hat.

by ajr142 on Mar 9, 2010 8:00 AM EST reply actions

Good. Hopefully he contributes this year. If not he’s gone of course, but we need him to be a contributor and hopefully a quality starter.

If my mother put on a helmet and shoulder pads and a uniform that wasn't the same as the one I was wearing, I'd run over her if she was in my way. And I love my mother. - Bo Jackson

by EANX33 on Mar 9, 2010 9:05 AM EST reply actions

What? We barely saved anything

We reduced his salary from $2.95 million to $1.5 million, yet we’re still paying him his $4.6 million roster bonus. I’m all for it because I think last year wasn’t a fair example of what he could do due to injury, but this basically states that we’re not going to pick up a stud RG and that we’re putting our chips in his basket.

by Team Serbia on Mar 9, 2010 10:16 AM EST reply actions

That’s a head scratcher all right. The Eagles must really believe in him making a comeback if they agreed to not touch that huge bonus money.

This sucks.

This guy isn’t worth $1.15, much less 1.15 million.

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.
