I’ve been hearing this for the past week….

does this just mean that he’s gonna be on the team for better or for worse?

Brent Celek > Chuck Norris

by Filth2Fury on Mar 8, 2010 2:30 PM EST reply actions

No, just that they’re paying a bonus he’s due if he’s on the roster on March 10th.

by JasonB on Mar 8, 2010 2:33 PM EST up reply actions

So this is just saying that were not cutting him? Did anyone think that we were?

And, on a different note, Roethlisberger is an asshole.

Brent Celek > Chuck Norris

by Filth2Fury on Mar 8, 2010 2:37 PM EST up reply actions

Right. All this means is that they aren’t cutting him.

by JasonB on Mar 8, 2010 2:46 PM EST up reply actions

What is with all the Hank Baskett hate?

I mean if we resign him, he plays special teams and provides for another playmaker as a 4th or 5th receiver. He would also seemingly be pretty cheap. I say bring him in. The guy is a hard worker, over achiever, and well liked in the locker room. Andy Reid called him one of his favorite guys. Bring him in.

I'm not opposed to bringing him back at all.

I am I never understood why people loved Baskett so much but hated G-Lew they were the same player. One big play a year and one is loved and the other hated.

Hank Baskett is a decent tackler on special teams :3

by yomjoseki on Mar 8, 2010 11:43 PM EST up reply actions

exactly..

He is an asset to our special teams and can fill in at WR if needed. He has the height for the the red zone but his hands just aren’t all that good. Regardless, we could probably get him cheap and he would probably love to come back here.

why not keep Reggie Brown then he was good on ST and he had way better years then Baskett.

Hank Baskett wasn’t in the doghouse for a shit attitude and let’s face it; Reggie was never going to dig his way out of it in Philly.

I don’t remember Reggies attitude ever coming into question

by Whodie126 on Mar 9, 2010 3:45 PM EST up reply actions

Baskett is a marginal player who only got so much attention because of who he married.

It wasn’t so much that he had bad hands, it was just that he was so damn inconsistent. What role do you have on a team for a ‘hands guy’ who isn’t very reliable and a ‘tall WR’ who doesn’t have a great vertical or is very physical? The answer is none. At least not on a team with decent WRs.

by MG77 on Mar 8, 2010 8:07 PM EST up reply actions

He’d be a guy we would throw to once a game and hope he grabs it, and a special teams body. Just like he was his first time around. He’s a role player. Somebody has to do it. You can’t have Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, and Steve Smith all on the same team (unless you’re my fantasy team from last year and yeah I won the league)

this is part of the 5 mil

we would owe him …. his agent took this precaution last year incase we do trade him like we probably will … but it helps him steal some of the pot … we would have to release him if we didnt want to pay this … so all in all we payed around 3 mil for a mid round draft pick … thats a steal

6 Wallet size and two 8 × 10′s is my guess.

The article didn't even say he was charged with anything.

It said as of Friday they aren’t sure if he will be charged. This is a non-story until something happens, because this has been going on for months.

Why does Roethlisberger get off the hook so easily?

This guy has generally done dumb thing after dumb thing since entering the league and you have to figure that where there is enough smoke there fire around his behavior toward women.

It is funny to read the comments over at ‘Behind the Steel Curtain’ generally defending this big dummy. Maybe he didn’t do a thing. He does deserve the right to his day in court. At the same time, it is just as unfair as they are doing over there slamming the women who have accused him of sexual assault.

My favorite posts though are the ones that revolve around “He is no role model.” No shit. This is quite a big difference between being a ‘role model’ and if found guilty committing sexual assault. That is just being a law-abiding citizen.

by MG77 on Mar 8, 2010 8:20 PM EST reply actions

It's disgusting frankly

I read some as well and I couldn’t take it. It’s one thing to want to believe in a guy you’re a fan of and I’m fine with anyone saying they’ll wait to pass judgment… but to call a woman you know nothing about who said she raped a “slut” or a “gold digger” is f-ing appalling. Imagine if it was your sister and people were saying that?

by JasonB on Mar 9, 2010 1:38 AM EST up reply actions

In all fairness, my sister is a total slut.

(jk I don’t have a sister, don’t ask for her phone number or Facebook page)
