PrintAfter i stopped bashing my head against the wall of my dorm room i sat back and tried to reason with the recent developments in the football world.
We've all been pissed off the past few days, especially me. Every offseason the eagles do relatively well ...
2009- Peters, Weaver, Andrews (i guess) Jones, Hobbs, etc. etc.
-Granted some of them came threw trades we did add alot of depth, regardless of how shitty Andrews and Jones were.
2008- Asante Samuel....(right off the top of my head, cant think of anyone else, i apologize)
-Dont really need to go into this one. Blockbuster deal. Really great
2004- Kearse and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named
-Superbowl year. whatup.
So yes, it is only day 3 of FA and we havent done anything. The recent holes in our defense are killing the team and every fan that follows it. We've missed out on numerous trades and pickups. Here have been the active teams so far:
Bears: J Peppers, C Taylor, B Malumaleuansdnfaklsdhfadshfashjfshjaldsjf
Giants: Antrel Rolle.....bastards
Cardinals: Rhodes...as well as trading and cutting a few other players
Lions: vanden bosh, Burleson, some DT from Cleveland i guess..
So basically what i'm getting at is there have only been a few teams really "doin' work". This uncapped year has put a strain on the free agent pool, making most good players restricted. Lets remember were not the only silent team here. Off the top of my head i can think of a few teams who havent really done anything either...
Colts, Chargers, Raiders, Panthers, Most of the AFC West, the Obama Administration, Stupid-dirty-Cowgirls,etc. ....
so yes, i am going against my emotions here and trying to rationalize everything, and in turn agree with most patient people on BGN that have been telling us to calm down. I guess we really do have to wait. If Andy Reid and Co along with this new guy Roseman have something up they're sleeve then well have to wait and see. (if not then they all suck and i have completely lost faith in this front office) but i highly doubt the latter.
When the big one happens i think it'll be that much better.

TO didn’t push us over the top. We went to the NFC Championship game a few times before that without him, and when we made the Super Bowl in the season we got TO, he was injured throughout the playoffs. He was not what got us there.

TO was good but not the best on our team. Brian Dawkins is widely regarded as the 2nd best safety to EVER play the game. That comes from Cowboy fans, Giant fans, Redskin fans and a whole host of other people. Randy White is widely regarded as the best DE EVER. People still try to copy his technique. Sorry, but there is no leg to stand on with this one. TO will be rated a top 7 all time WR at the end of his career. And your gonna ask who else so I will tell you.

Widely regarded as the 2nd best safety ever? Was he ever even considered the second best in the league? I mean, this guy played in the same era as Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu. I like Dawkins as much as anyone, but I don’t think a lot of people would think Dawk is better than Reed and Polamalu.

Brian dawkins is only surpassed by Ronnie Lott. he is easily first ballot hall of fame, and his impact is very lasting. Ed Reed is a very good safety when it comes to coverage, but I don’t see him as the complete package. troy Polamalu if he stops getting nicked up, is in the same mold as dawkins, but you take a in his prime Polamalu (that would be 2007-2009) and an in his prime Dawkins…I would take Dawkins any day of the week.

TO put up 1200 yards and 14 TDs in his year here. That same year Brian Westbrook had 1500 yards receiving/rushing and 9 TDs so there is definitely an argument there.
TO is a great player but a horrible teammate and will never be considered the best Eagle ever by anyone with a half a brain.

I think we are all a little frustrated trying to figure out what the Front Office is up to. I’m hoping that in true Eagles fashion, they will pull some astonishing moves before the season gets under way. But let me tell you, right now it’s just getting on my nerves – just like it is with Yomjo and E.B. I think Bye Dawk is right when he’s saying to be patient.

Everybody keeps moaning about what the Eagles haven’t done but nearly every team is in the same boat. The unrestricted FA class this year is pretty damn weak and nearly every NFL pundit is saying it will be a somewhat slow offseason due to the uncertainty regarding the labor agreement.
The Lions may be halfway decent next year.

Jason Peters- not acquired until April 17th, 2009 (yeah, that’s over a month from now…equivalently speaking)
Leonard Weaver- not until March 11th (still have a few days for that one)
Ellis Hobbs- draft deal (end of April)
Terrell Owens- mid March
