Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Let's Take A Pause For The Cause

My fellow bridge jumpers, G Cobb, WIP Radio, and eagle fans in general, your hysteria and craziness is funny. Before I continue take a deep breath and exhale slowly and wait 10 minutes so you can feel relaxed. Now please tell me wasn't free agency  very slim and bare? So why the hysteria?

Blame the NFL and the Players for not coming to a new CBA agreement by March 5th. With no agreement all 32 teams and players are suffering due to their own selfish stupidity and therefore this years free agent class took a big hit. Many should have become UFA but with no agreement alot became RFA and that's ashame.

So tell me who in the world was out there? in business like sports you want to make smart, sound decisions when you invest that are going to help your team and fit into your plans. But if you don't have a plan and don't look out for your team, go ahead and make bad investments and misuse your money foolishly because in the end you suffer with no way out and no relief on the way.

Be grateful eagles fans that our team isn't like the lions or redskins unless you prefer to go back to the days of ray rhodes and rich koite.

Now to free agency Juilius Peppers: look I'm not getting into a bidding war with any team for a player who picks and chooses what plays he's going to put effort into. All players care about money and very few love football or care about winning. If peppers loved the game of football and wanted to win why didn't he go to the patriotsor eagles? Because it was all about the money and with a desperate bears team overpaying him why not take the most money? Aaron Kampman: torn ACL and @ the age of 30? No thank you. He tore his ACL in November do we really think he would've been ready to play football because many on BGN weren't very confident. The seahawks and eagles had every right to be concerned and skeptical and sure bring up Stewart Bradley and Cornelius Ingram but both are very young and have more upside then kampman at this stage of his career and age. And after the Stacy Andrews mess the eagles want to redo his contract. Antrel Rolle: The cardinals didn't want to pay him 12 million and many were saying he wasn't worth 8 million a year. I don't know why the eagles weren't interested but I do know they realize saftey is a need for this team.

No the eagles are not cheap because if they were the team would not be contenders every year. I want my eagles to win a Superbowl and the only way you do this is by building a team that can contend every year because the better you build the team the more it can contend every year, the closer you can get to winning the big prize.

The eagles have a plan and I'm confident we will see a better team come september. Remember Patience is a virtue so start having some and end the hysteria. And just take a pause for the cause. I hope we all are breathing easier now so feel better. Fly eagles fly on the road to victory, E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!

I know what you mean

the hysteria is crazy and unwarranted its been 3 days right? Our Eagle can only get better. Just sad that we have very few patient and intelligent fans

I think people are disappointed

that so many of the marquee players are gone and we haven’t gotten any. But most of those players are on the older side, and that’s just not the Eagles’ style. We’ll wait for trades and other players to get released. And the thing we should remember, even if we don’t add any great players we only lost a couple this offseason and we’ve got a great team.

it's kinda hard to read

but the message is what I agree with: we can’t assume that all is lost because we didn’t throw wads of money at the biggest names.

Seriously, I can’t believe people here already think our SB hopes are trashed irretrievably because we haven’t done anything yet. I dunno the numbers, but I would guess at least 25 teams (including the final 8) haven’t done anything either

I know....

That we are just 3 days into the new NFL year but I feel that if the team was going super bowl or bust this year then they woulda sold out and got Peppers, Taylor, and/or Dansby. Since that didn’t happen I feel that this team wants to stay young and competitive which is fine with me because in my opinion we have nooooo chance of winning a super bowl this year or even the next for that matter. That being said, I really hope we truely rebuild the right way and stay young by getting rid of Vick and Don and stock pilling picks that we can use to fill our roster with a lot of young talent that can eventually win us a super bowl 3-4 years from now!!!

i agree with all this ..

rolle wasnt worth half of what he got .. i would of been more pissed if we payed him that .. so im happy .. kampman is coming off a major injury and is 30 … pass .. i dont agree with cutting spoon but if they are going to use that money than im ok …. now peppers .. this is where we disagree .. he is the best DE since reggie white .. you cant over pay for him .. cuz what ever he gets he worth .. so yea i think we should of made a run .. but thats one player .. and you cant get them all

Congrats. You got JIBTA to agree with you. It’s a rare feat … though one you might not want to brag about :)

I tend to agree too. And you know how I feel about Peppers … But we did “make a run.” It’s not like he came to NovaCare and we let him get away. We talked to his agent, as did a bunch of other teams, they identified Chicago is their No. 1 visit and they signed Day 1.

We probably could’ve done more, but then again, the Peppers camp could have done more if he really wanted to be an Eagle. I tend to agree with those who said they were just gonna sign with whoever offered them the most. The Bears have some promise, but don’t exactly scream contender. Looked like a money grab.

Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome

I'm a little honored

I will cherish this moment for a few minutes. I always knew Jibta had a soft spot lol. just playing jibta but as pepper is concerned if he really wanted to win he would have given New England and Philadelphia more of a consideration and intern if peppers wanted to sign with new england or philadelphia I am sure the eagles or patriots would have given him a few more dollars to make him happy.

who cares

he can sign for more money thats his point .. not everyone cares about winning .. i would rather make 5 mil a year for lions .. than make 500 k .. and win a superbowl

by jack is better than asante on Mar 7, 2010 11:08 PM EST up reply actions

I agree

Jibta I think the fans care about winning so we can have something to cheer about but most players want the money more since football takes a toll on the body and careers never last that long so if i’m a football player I’m collect all the millions I can before my career ends due to injury or age. very few players care about winning or “loves to play the game”.

sadly

most people are like that. Play for the money, not to win. I posed a question amongst my Eagle friends 2 years ago, and was sadly shocked by the majority of the answers. lets see what everybody here has to say.

Your allowed to play and start one season in the NFL, at whatever postion you want, but the only team you can play for is the Cowboys. Would you do it?

I'm not worried.. I bet within the next month to a month 1/2 we make some good trades and

maybe even a blockbuster type of trade.

Does anyone think that

a lot of our defensive holes are because JJ is gone… do you think having JJ around would of made a difference in the start of Free Agency and we would of be more aggressive with some of the top Defensive players?

I’m not complaining about our non-action in the beginning of FA because I’m sure our FO has a plan but it was just a thought. Our Defense is really lacking depth right now, and there is still time to pick up some players. But I’m sure if JJ wanted someone, he would of made it happen.

No

JJ wasn’t the reason Bradley and Gaither went down, and he wasn’t the reason we didn’t sign these guys. We have some people on our team we need to take care of and clearly that has been priority over getting the top guys this year.

I was just asking because our focus has been pretty much on the offense for the past year. You’d think McDermott would be like… “listen, we need to clean this shit up now.” Because at the end of the day, he’s responsible for our D
