Ellis Hobbs gets a first round tag? Weaver, Avant, & Nick Cole get 2nd round tenders. Gilles, Gocong, Gaither get original round tenders. Rocca gets a "right of first refusal" tender.

Why is weaver only a second??

by jufr18 on Mar 4, 2010 7:51 PM EST via mobile reply actions

HE IS A FULLBACK.

True but he is essential to our backfield with bwest gone. That being said I don’t see any team giving up more than a second for him, or even the eagles refusing to match any sane offer

He’s not essential to the backfield. Anything he brings is a bonus. We’ve functioned without fullbacks before.

The Eagles must value what Hobbs offers. I’m surprised by the tender being so high (I believe I predicted he’d be tendered for a third), but in reality, he’s a decent cornerback and could probably start on half the teams in the league.

I think they are trying to signal that they believe he is fully healthy to try and pump his value. I think it’d be silly not to take a 2nd maybe even a high third for him. We gave up two fifths for him, so if we could get a 2nd or a 3rd it would be a coup.

Hobbs

Special teams specialist and situational player in his main position (CB). Still wouldn’t expect a first for him, he’s not Cribbs.

Nobody expects a first for him. The Eagles can choose to negotiate a trade for less than a first if a team wants to make an offer to Hobbs.

I would think that it had more to do with what they perceived could be a market for him moreso than how they value him.

by JasonB on Mar 4, 2010 9:25 PM EST up reply actions

Well, they know they won’t get a first for him. Would they get a second for him? It’s possible, I guess, that someone would sign him to a tender and offer up a pick. Either they really want to keep him, or they’re trying to pump his value a little. Could be both, really.

Grab the scoring chart, ByeDawk!

Sorry, can’t check all of them for you, my eyes are still partially shot and I have to work.

Ugh.

Damn. Fucking damn. I understand the 2nd round tender for Weaver but I don’t want to be even a little bit concerned that he won’t be back next year.

1st round tender for Hobbs? He’s not that good at KR.

Um, I’d take that second round pick and draft Ryan Matthews or something in a heartbeat. I love the Weave, and he’s as good a fullback as any, but fullbacks do not have value in this league.

no one will offer a 2 for weaver. the birds would have a week to match even if someone did. hopefully it won’t take another week to work out a long term deal anyway. i don’t get the hobbs tender. is it just because corner is a position of value? he does have starting experience. kick returning is a plus. he’s multi talented i guess

Looks as if Hobbs may serve as more than a KR this year...

And Weaver only gets a 2nd most likely because noone wants to spend a 2nd round pick on a Fullback

thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
