I don't understand this one. Berry is a top 10 draft pick without a doubt....very likely a top 5. Andy must have the craziest draft plan in the world if he plans to pull this off.

Nothing big.

We worked out Jason Smith last year, same day we traded for Jason Peters.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
McNabb's Chamionship game and Super Bowl career: 129/225, 57.3 completion percentage, 1426 yards, 6.3 YPA, 9 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, 72.9 QB rating, 1-5

In that case, Thomas might be a better value at 20-24. He raised his weight to 208, so he definitely has a chance at safety. Eric Berry is the best safety to come out of the draft since Ed Reed in ’02. Outstanding in coverage, run support, tackling, and has all the essentials needed to be a great safety.

but hey with this raiders crap swirling

who knows , 8th overall ? eh eh eh berry may be able to be scooped then but i just dont think we should throw away the kitchen sink with plenty of potential thomas has and berry has a year over thomas and a lot of thomas’s picks were sure fire jumps … berry had a good bit of lucky tipped passes landing in his hands but then again that just tells you how well hes always around the ball …

If you are talking about trading Mcnabb, then the Raiders’ 39th pick would land him if the recent reports of Andy wanting a top 42 pick for Donovan is true. No need for them to offer 8th pick(which would be downright retarded but normal for Al Davis).

For Kolb, as I stated below, yes it’s quite possible, and I would do it in a heartbeat if it lands us Berry.

by Route36 on Mar 26, 2010 3:35 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but you could package the number 24 pick and McNabb to move up to 8

real question is

if we f ourself doing such , who do we take instead ? lB ?

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Mar 26, 2010 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I doubt it

Any team picking in the top 10 is rebuilding, and probably doesn’t want a QB over 30. Although the Raiders might be an exception, they actually have the ability to be decent (see: every game this season that Jamarcus didn’t start)

by BarbarosaNo on Mar 26, 2010 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions

not true

if you can fill a position for four solid years that leaves room to solidify other positions … renting a qb so to speak … and since they will still probably suck even with mcnabb they can draft a qb in the later years

Berry: Second coming of Ed Reed.

Thomas: Although outstanding in coverage, his size limits his tackling ability at the NFL level. Possibly a better fit at corner in the NFL.

by Route36 on Mar 26, 2010 2:53 AM EDT up reply actions

I would love thomas or berry

just not at the cost of trading up and giving up a 2nd or 3rd rounder to get it. There are enough stud LB and CB that we can get at our current spot. Heck right about now, Carlos Dunlap is looking like a good pick.

In Kolb we trust

by yophillybro on Mar 26, 2010 9:57 AM EDT up reply actions

o.O

It could be just coincidence lol maybe Andy is trying to size up this guy. Maybe he’s trying to see whether it would be worth it or not trying to get a top 10 pick to draft him….
99% chance we don’t get him anyways that’s how unlikely it is in my opinion. The only way is if some crazy ass Raiders-Eagles deal goes off.
My fantasy deal would be:

Eagles ship:
-Their first round
-Their second round
-McNabb
-Asante or Sheldon
-Quinten Demps/Chris Gocong/Some other players/Some other draft picks

Raiders ship:
-Their first round
-Kirk Morrison
-Nnamdi Asomugha (someone tell me how to spell the first name)

Sounds insane, no?

If I'm goin' to hell, you're coming with me...

by DIBTA on Mar 25, 2010 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

So we're swapping first and seconds,

giving away McNabb, Demps/others/picks and Asante/Sheldon for Asomugha, Morrison? I don’t even think Morrison is that good of a LB, no matter how desperate our needs are.. We should get a decent one in the draft. Btw, I don’t think there’s been a bigger exchange of players/picks as that. Someone correct me?

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

by antoniak on Mar 26, 2010 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions

And the number 8 pick.

Which could be Berry. You’d be swapping one CB for maybe the best CB in the league. You’d be swapping a backup player for a starting LB. And you’d be swapping the 24th+McNabb for Eric Berry. Us giving up our 2nd round pick makes it ugly, but change that to a 5th or 6th (whichever we have right now) and is it that bad of a deal? I like McNabb but Kolb is the future, so I’m mentally prepared for him to be the starter at this point.

by NOLACuse on Mar 26, 2010 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

his contract would have to be re-negotiated … its absolutely preposterous

That is true.

But I’m almost wondering if it’s worth it. It isn’t worth it, but I’m only like 98.5% sure it isn’t worth it.

by NOLACuse on Mar 26, 2010 2:28 PM EDT up reply actions

It's funny...

We were just talking about trading Kolb in GreeninBaltimore’s post. Maybe….just maybe, Andy is contemplating a Kolb trade, and if he does get a top 8 pick, Berry is one of his top options. Other than that, players especially safeties and interior linemen have a tendency to fall in the draft, and Andy is “maintaining his flexibility”. If anything, at least we know, Andy knows Macho/Demps is not the answer at free safety.

Seriously, Berry + Mcnabb or Kolb?

I pick Berry + Mcnabb.

by Route36 on Mar 26, 2010 2:43 AM EDT reply actions

sounds reasonable

I could def see Kolb getting traded if the market for McNabb is no good.

by RiotJuice on Mar 26, 2010 2:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Hmm

But.. That probably will mean that we also draft a QB in the draft this year if we trade Kolb.

I wouldn’t mind drafting Tebow in a late round the Eagles are great at developing quarterbacks and he could be a project for them.

by fhqwagads on Mar 26, 2010 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions

If we move a QB, end up with 5+ picks in first 3 rounds

Then I might be ok with drafting Tebow in the 3rd. But he won’t last that long.

Probably not, maybe take a look at Jarrett Brown or maybe Jevan Snead even though I really don’t like Snead

QB for the next 7+ years or FS for the next 7+ years?

I pick QB for the next 7 years.

by Team Serbia on Mar 26, 2010 9:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Eric Berry is only 21.

It’s actually Ed Reed : Version 2 + being superbowl contenders for at least next 3-4 years with Mcnabb, then still being contenders for at least the next 5 more years(our current offense will still all be under 30) since our next QB(Case Keenum) will be groomed by then.

OVER

Possible good QB and possible superbowl contenders for the next 9 years.

by Route36 on Mar 26, 2010 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Even if you take out the Case Keenum part, wouldn’t you be happy if the Eagles are guaranteed superbowl contenders for another 3-4 years because that’s what they will be once they fix this defense and O-line in the upcoming draft. Really good FA market after the CBA is done as well.

Whatever, I know you’re gonna say, " Who’s to say we won’t be superbowl contenders with Kolb? If the F.O. trusts Kolb, so will I", and that’s fine. We can’t all have the same opinions.

We know what we have in Mcnabb, back-to-back breaking team records in points scored the last two seasons. We DON’T know Kolb, that’s why I would rather stay with the sure thing but ONLY if we get a at least a top 8 1st rounder and a top 8 third rounder for Kolb.

by Route36 on Mar 26, 2010 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

can you guarantee we’ll be Superbowl contenders with McNabb and some rookies? We haven’t been to the Superbowl since 2004 might I remind you.

by Whodie126 on Mar 26, 2010 2:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Not next year but the following year, yes. This is the first time since 2004 did Andy Reid finally realized Mcnabb needs receivers to be successful. He HAS given Mcnabb his receivers and Mcnabb HAS delivered. The failures last year was far from Mcnabb’s fault.

Tommy Lawlor over at eaglesbliz says

the raiders are open to dealing #8 overall for McNabb. Not only the Raiders, but the Jaguars and Bills are open to sending 1st round picks. This is getting REAL.
