Just eagles mock draft
Surprised I havent seen more of these... Let me know if this is in the wrong place.
1st Round
24 -Mike Iupati OG - Earl Thomas doesnt make it past Pitt/Houston so we are left to decide between Iupati and Weatherspoon. While getting Weatherspoon would be great the combination of 1) me liking Akeem Jordan more than most and 2) the chances Weatherspoon doesnt even last til 24 makes me go with Iupati. The closer we get to the draft the more questions we are starting to hear about his stance/form, which would normally be a red flag for me, but for some reason I have a feeling alot of this is based around teams later in the 1st hoping he drops to them.
2nd Round
24 -Patrick Robinson CB Florida State - So the big question is when Spikes drops to us here do we take him?? I lean towards no (which would have been blasphemous 2-3 months ago) and think we start to address the secondary instead. PRob starts out being brought along slow (fighting with hobbs and hanson at the nickel) but could be starting his second year.
3rd Round
6 - Dexter McCluster RB/WR - Undersized but its worked out for us in the past. The second part of our new 3 headed monster is in place. If the market for Westy doesnt improve I would love to see the team bring him in as a coach/mentor type figure for a player with a similar skillset.
23 -AJ Edds SLB Iowa - I like Fokou but then again I liked Gocong so what do I know. Either way we need the depth and though I havent seen alot of him Edds is listed as top SAM pretty much across the board.
4th Round
23 - Myron Rolle SS Florida State - Keep our fingers crossed he can read NFL offenses as well as he reads medical anthropology text books. If we think we need to make this move at 3/23 I have no problem with that either. I think Rolle has all the potential to be a real player in this league and his scholastic ambition shouldnt be held against him. My only question is how he matches up with Q and if both could play together.
5th Round
24 - Legarrette Blount RB Oregon - Earth (Blount), Wind (Mccoy), and Fire (Dexter). This video says it all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRd3jboBC68&feature=related .
6th Round
3 - Armanti Edwards - QB/WR - Hopefully by this point we have traded Vick for a midround draft pick (which we use to take a TE - graham, dickerson, or dickson) otherwise we go BPA on either line
31 - Best oline/dline available... blocking TE
7th Round
Not even going to pretend to try to know who will be left

not bad
As of your Spikes, question, no. He’s projected really low now due to his awful 40 time (5.00).

No way we take 2 RB's in first 5 rounds
especially after signing Mike Bell, and also no way we don’t get defensive line depth at all.
ried has never and never will draft a OG in the first round
andrews was drafted to be a tackle and we have one
Dude, why is everyone slurping Myron Rolle
That dude was a mediocre prospect before and is even more of one now. Other than that and McCluster, I’m cool with it. If we’re picking an RB that early in the 3rd, make it Montario.
Liking the Mike I selection in the first…that’s who I want us to take.
Rolle is a first round talent stuck in a later round. One and a half years out of football has cast a phenomenal talent into a round undeserving of his supreme talent. Coming into college, Rolle was considered one of the most athletic players ever and only showed off his athleticism as he developed into a combination safety, hard hitting and well above average at coverage. His speed allowed him to pick up opposing wide receivers and his strength kept opponents under wraps. However, he has dropped due to, as previously stated, not playing his senior season of eligibility and also for what some coaches believe was “leaving his teammates behind” by forging the 2009 season in order to become a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. Rolle will probably go down as one of the smartest players to ever play in the NFL and to have such a caliber of player in the secondary would only help the Eagles fix a glaring hole from the 2009 season. He is a personal favorite of mine for the Eagles to draft in April.
To quote DeSean10:
He’s very football smart
According to scouts that’s his best ability, he can read and evaluate formations and plays on the fly. He’s not the fastest guy, but he’s strong and makes great reads and takes good angles. If he hadn’t been a Rhodes scholar he would have gone into last year’s draft, where he was projected as an early to mid 2nd rounder, so that’s where I think he would’ve gone. I think he’d be a steal in the third.
To quote anuj:
Myron Rolle is my this year’s Knowshon Moreno
I like how you backed up your info after coming across as a kid. good play. But you have yet to prove your hit against Myron Rolle. A bum and a two down SS who cant defend the pass?
okay. so he cant defend the pass right? So what is this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRzC6t-k9Uw&feature=related
Look at the pass that Jacoby Harris throws at 1:04. Pretty good pass to his WR. and then… watch the rest.
a bum? the man is a Rhodes scholar. Im in med school and I wish that I was a Rhodes scholar. All i do is my frat and study. Rolle did it while being a full time football player, excelling at it, and then studying. A man who can balance all that and still get the nations most prestigious award in academics is a bum? Also, before he accepted the scholarship, Rolle was a early round pick. I dont know about you, but I consider early to be the first or the second.
http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2009/01/myron_rolle_will_skip_nfl_draf.html
and now… a two down SS? thats not what nfl.com says
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2010/profiles/myron-rolle?id=494303#tabs:tab-analysis
I personally would pick him over Taylor Mays. I probably will get bashed for this. Mays is a athletic freak. Yet, one too many times do i see him put his helmet to the hit. Rolle is gifted physcially as well as mentally. Ask yourself people. Who do you see replacing the shoes of Brian Dawkins. Who reminds you of him? Mays, Thomas, or Rolle. I see the same man i saw in Dawkins in Rolle.
check your info d-jackfan10. Roll is not a bum, a 2 down SS, and he can defend the pass

And the quote block got broken, damnit.
"College is only 4 years. The Eagles are a lifetime pursuit." - IronHank
I couldn't care less if the guy is a Rhodes scholar and #1 son of the year
He came out of Jersey as the #1 overall recruit in America and I don’t think he ever lived up to that at Florida State. What did he have 1 FR and 1 INT in 4 years? No offense to him, but those stats suck.
I have nothing against him personally, because by all accounts he is a great kid. But him being a doctor have nothing to do with him being an asset to the Eagles. We already have one saftety who contributes nothing to the position (Demps), we don’t need another.
myron rolle ran a 4.68 at the combine.
there are linebackers that run faster. pass.

Most recently, Rolle’s been back down in Florida working under the direction of renowned strength coach Tom Shaw. Stating that the combine is "huge opportunity" that he plans on taking full advantage of, Rolle lists his 40 speed on his Website at 4.42, compared to a 4.55 he posted at FSU.

Thats great to hear but you have to keep in mind
the dude he’s paying is the one timing/posting the 40 times or he is.

I was referencing his 4.55 at FSU, not really the 4.42 he says he ran. Either way, he’s running faster than the combine said he did.

Rodney Harrison ran a 4.82
He turned out alright. Well, as a player, a little crazy mentally but there’s no worry of that with Dr. Rolle.

Actually I think were overestimating his brains...
he is highly intellegent however what you guys fail to see is that people like him often times go into bouts of depression because they feel like nobody truly understands them.. You also have to take into account that with alot of very smart people they do have some issues w/ the social aspects of things which takes a toll on them..
Point being anyone can go crazy.

yeah but he's also a millionaire athlete
and those guys don’t have social problems or issues of that sort. Honestly you can’t call his intelligence a negative attribute.

Wasnt Shawn Andrews a little above average in the smarts category???
and didnt he have issues w/ depression..
Not calling it a negitive attribute, just saying we may be overvalueing it a bit.. It makes up for some of his short comings like lack of turnovers and stuff but not for all of his speed issues.

so fucking what?
shawn andrews doesn’t represent smart people, and he’s no fucking Rhodes scholar… this kid has no reason to be depressed, and I really don’t think his intelligence can be held against him…. frankly I don’t even want him but I think your arguement is illogical.

rodney harrison almost weighed 230...
and he was an old school strong safety. almost a linebacker. not that 40 times are the gold standard to judge a player by, but i want speed in my secondary. i’m just saying there are better safeties out there. my feelings wouldn’t be hurt if we got him, however.
"it's like i tell my ex-wife, i never drive faster than i can see, and besides it's all in the reflexes." -Jack Burton, Big trouble in little China
Couple of things:
(1) Weatherspoon, not Witherspoon
(2) Andy would never draft a RB as high as 70 when we just signed Mike Bell and drafted McCoy in the second round last year. He clearly does not want to go through the “Three headed monster” again. Plus, another undersized player on the offense? Even Reid realizes there needs to be a little size added.
(3) Myron Rolle has a great deal of football IQ. Watch a little footage on him, his reaction time in reading plays is up there with the best safeties in this draft. If he had entered the draft after his junior year he would have gone high second round, maybe even first round.
(4) Blount is more of a 6th round talent, especially after his incident this past season. Not exactly the type of player Reid likes to draft.
"College is only 4 years. The Eagles are a lifetime pursuit." - IronHank
I was going to post that Blount won't fall to 5. So he lost his head once
he recently became a father and wants to be an NFL player. He’s a very talented beastly runner, i say he goes well before round 6.

switch OG and CB if we trade Sheldo
1 – DE
2 – OG
3- CB/FS hybrid
4- OT
5-OG
6 – DT/QB
7- who cares about these 3
Why would we draft ANOTHER CB/FS hybrid? We already have Macho Harris, Quinten Demps and Marlin Jackson on the roster. Adding a third makes sense after having all three of them on the roster? Also, where’s the linebacker in your draft?
"College is only 4 years. The Eagles are a lifetime pursuit." - IronHank
Where is a player that would make any impact at all in their rookie year?? A DEnd at 24 would have to be either Dunlap or Griffen and I dont like either. Best case scenario for both is splitting time with Tapp (and possibly Abriamiri).
The 2nd round OG makes no sense. We get much better value from Iupati/wootton than we do from dunlap/asamoah.
Past that we have a list of players that IF they play in the next 2 years it means we are in a lot of trouble.
VOID!!!
I'd be very happy if this was how the Eagles draft ended up
And, I love the McCoy, McCluster, Blount earth wind and fire trio.
But as Team Serbia pointed out
It wouldn’t make much sense after the Mike Bell signing, but I think either one of those 2 would be a good pick.
Again.. I completely spaced on the Mike Bell signing so I dont see this ever happening but IIIIF those 2 fell into our laps I would have no problem telling mike bell to kick rocks and to tell his story walkin
VOID!!!
love Blount

I definantly like the First pick
we need a RG.. MJG is awful..
As for Robinson I’d take him.
In the 3rd I’d rather have Gerhart and cough Micah cough(sorry havent thrown it out there in a while)
In the 4th I’ll stick to what you said w/ Rolle..
And IDK who else will be there after that although a decent SAM LB could be Sam Maxwell, he’s a fast little booger and makes plays.

I always thought the pro-micah crowd wanted him as a SAM? I guess you are projecting him as a a middle?? Dont have any faith in Stew or that much faith in Micah??
VOID!!!
No way bud I'm definantly pro micah at SAM..
and he’d be great insurance as a MLB too… That being said Stew over Micah any day.

Yo Robinson is really underrated
he is the best Corner in this draft athletically, he’s like a bigger Asante who can hit… he loves jumping routes and playing agressive.

should hate him then?

robinson is a crazy athlete
BUT he isn’t a smart player and I don’t think the Eagles will want both starting corners gambling. We really need more of a fundamentally sound corner with our lack of talent at the safety position. I think the only way we go with Robinson in the second is if we get Thomas in the first.
