I was surprised to read the one of the teams that voted against it was the Vikings, who just months ago lost a chance to go to the Super Bowl by a field goal in OT

they didnt want the possibility of being labeled as cry babies so to speak and they knew it would happen regardless of their vote

i dont like the rule change. it’s a pro sport, if you don’t have a pro defense that can keep the other teams off. from scoring, it’s your own prob. this isn’t college football, and i hate when people want that style OT for a PRO sport.
Is it more likely for you to win if you won the toss, sure, but it’s not as bad as perceived. You’re paid millions of dollars, it’s set up for the home team to have a distinct advantage, and they should be able to win the game in regulation. OT shouldnt be fair, you’re paid millions to win the game in regulation. Play defense, shut the offense down, and score to win. Don’t complain you didn’t win the toss.

Coaches complained because teams who won the coin toss could win the game without the other team getting a chance. Now the rule has changed and.. teams who won the coin toss can still win the game without the other team getting a chance.
Just you wait, a team in the postseason will win on the opening possession with a TD and the coaches/owners will whine again and beg for it to be changed.
