How do our Team needs rank now?
Recently, the team has become more active making moves. Most recently we traded Chris Clemons and a 4th to the Seahawks for Darryl Tapp, which im pretty excited about, but we also cut Kevin Curtis, Darren Howard, Will Witherspoon and Shawn Andrews. So the FO obviously sees the need to get younger, faster, stronger, and more talented overall on both sides of the ball. So with that being said, what do you guys think is the order of positions in most need of help and who would you realistically like to see the eagles take in the draft?
I have the team needs ranked as followed:
1. FS
2. OLB
3. DE
4. O-Line
5. CB
The Guy that I want the Eagles to target if he gets past the 16th or 17th pick is Earl Thomas. We allowed 27 TD passes last year which is unacceptable, and I think Thomas would help our D tremendously. He is a ball-hawking safety that is not afraid to come up a put a lick on somebody in the run game.
However I expect him to go pretty early in the draft so I'm not getting my hopes up. The guy that I want if Thomas is off the board is Sean Weatherspoon. He's a good value at 24 and he fills a position of need. He is also known to be a vocal leader on and off the field which is something we really lacked last year.
So how do you guys rank your positions of need and who would you like to see us take?

either of them would be amazing, I was wondering, why is it that most people have weatherspoon projected as a 43 WILL? and what is the difference to the SAM Linebacker, i mean, I know Sam is supossed to be a little heavier and stronger and bust lead block etc and able to cover a TE.
My question is, would th other Spoon make a good SAM?
he projects as either a WILL or MIKE
so if we draft him maybe Stew moves to SAM, like you said the SAM needs to be a big guy who can take on blockers etc. We could play spoon at SAM but he’d be out-of-position, although he could probably handle it pretty well because he’s a good player.

My thoughts on the teams needs are:
1. FS- if the eagles get a good free safety, we could potentially use more of a corner than a safety (which i assume is what we signed him to play)
2. OL- if the eagles get another injury bug, we need a solid replacement
3. OLB- acquisition through trade would be preferable, if that happened i would move this down to 5. Since the andy reid era of drafting LBs has not been favorable. the only exception might be stu, but he needs another good year under his belt.
4. DE- tapp is a change of scenery to say the least, but has a lot more upside potential. from what i understand, he didnt fit the seahawks system very well and could be a great fit in the eagles system.
5. CB- with FS being the top priority, it allows us to have Assante, Sheldon, Hanson, Patterson, and Jackson. The combo CB/FS role by both Jackson and Harris, gives us flexibility and youth with the depth at CB

CB in the first...
i’d really like Kyle Wilson to fall to the Eagles, even if they have to move up a couple spots ala Maclin. A really solid no. 1 CB that can come on if Sheldon has hammy problems again for Asantes next stinger. Then hopefully another CB somewhere else in the draft. Basically Asante/Browns replacements. Seems like Andy’s tried to sneak one by and get a gem by drafting guys like Ikegwonou who fall because of injuries, but it hasn’t worked out. We’re gonna need to find CB replacements in this draft or next years. I currently don’t trust any of our CBs to step in for Asante or Brown if they were to miss a couple of games. Our extras are fine in the nickel, but not on the outside.

Agreed
Even though it’s only by a small margin. I would rather want us to take a Safety in the first than reach for an OLB or a guard in the first. Ultimately I would say:
OLB
FS
G/T
DE
CB
My list is actually the exact same as T-rade
Although if Graham was available, I would take him above Weatherspoon. I think they will both turn out to be fantastic players, so either pick would be a winner, but I think Graham can be that rare talent. But yeah T-rades order is my order.

yeah man I'd say mine's similar with CB/DE on the same level
agreed on Graham over Weatherspoon, but I don’t see him making it to 24.

nah My list is
OG/C
SAM LB
FS
CB
DE
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
"I'm trading Kolb to Buffalo for Cribbs"- the brilliant Trade Kolb
Any idea though if Jackson will be able to actually stay on the field and contribute for close to 16 G? Yeah he has a track record but if they are counting on him to start at CB/FS they are going to regret it. Out of position at FS and it will be interesting to see if he really has the wheels anymore to play CB on the outside. My bet is ‘no’ and that he likely will be a depth guy at CB and maybe a starter at nickel.
Best player available, particularly in the first round. There are basically no positions on the defense, with the possible except of DT, that couldn’t use an upgrade. On the offensive side, RG/C are positions of need, and I wouldn’t mind seeing an RB if the right guy was available. As long as the pick isn’t a reach to fill a position, I’ll be happy.
Im not thinking
POSITIONS at all anymore. I find that fact very exciting!!
Before the draft we added:
DE Tapp – he will probably start and see spot duty from Abriami and Parker. We will get more depth but Tapp and Cole are our studs.
S MJ or Marlin Jackson – If his injury is healed he can be our cover safety. I agree with most that we need insurance here. But with Jackson(healed) we are better at S than we were last year.
OLB No one – Stewart Bradley will be back making adjustment pre snap, so we will be in better position as a D unit. This upgrades us immediately from last year. We could use an upgrade. But name a position that we can’t.
CB No one – We will be healthier so thats an advantage. But we do need depth here. Injuries happen and I am not comfortable with Hanson as our starting CB.
RB Mike Bell – He is all we need to compliment Shady and Weaver.
The fan in me wants Earl Thomas the most. But if there is a future Sheldon Brown in this years first round he makes the most sense. My second most wanted guy is Brandon Grahm. And my third is Sean Witherspoon.
If a CB falls to us
i’m predicting Eagles draft that CB in the first, and in that case, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sheldon Brown traded for a late 2nd/3rd round pick.

The more
i think about it. It sounds like the right thing to do. If CB is what we should do…who are your top 5 guys you think we should look at?
Well I think CB is an underrated position of need
But in the first round I think the Eagles take the best player available from CB, OL, or S.
I don’t think they go LB in the first or second as its a position they don’t really value and I think with the return of Bradley they figure they’ll be able to pick someone up in the later rounds. Jordan will be good at WILL, Bradley at MLB, and Fokou at SAM.
Also, unless Berry, Thomas, or Mays fall to us in the first I don’t think we go safety until a bit later in the draft, perhaps Myron Rolle.
There are a few options at CB that could be intriguing at #24. Joe Hadan has fallen in a few mock drafts past us, so if he falls we’ll be taking him. Also Patrick Robinson maybe a reach but it wouldn’t surprise me. Same with Devin McCourty and Kyle Wilson.
Trading down also seems like a very plausible option if none of these guys fall to us. Move back a few spaces or even out of the first round may give us more ammunition to grab these guys that are a reach at 24.
Time will tell though!
sheldon stays. they will get a corner in the fourth round. first round we get grahm or witherspoon. if we get grahm in the first then we get maybe bowman in the second round. the third will be offensive lineman then a saftey. for saftey im hoping nate allen . hoping chris cook is there in the fourth round
i think we go safety in the second or just take mays in the first (I hope not)

Needs vs. Where you'll get talent
I rank our needs as
C/G
Sam LB
FS
DE
CB
But I think Sam LB, DE, and CB usually needs to be drafted early (1-3rd round) to get good talent. Where we’ll be able to pick-up a good G/C or FS from the 3rd-5th round.
Switch DE and CB
And I’d completely agree with this.
I Am Better Than Jack Who Some Fool Thinks Is Better Than Asante (IABTJWSFTIBTA)
Agree with your ranking, not with the rest
I would draft those players in the order that you ranked the needs. Especially for C/G, we need a solid starter to put in come Week 1, and you will get that in round 1 or 2, less likely later. So LB and C/G would be our first two picks, whichever comes first.
Outside of McClain (will go early) and Bowman, I don’t know which other linebackers are projected for rounds 1-2. Dakota Watson? Maurkice Pouncey would be a good C, but who knows when he’s drafted (could pass on him in the first and see him get picked up in the second) and I don’t know any other C prospects. There are more 2nd round guards out, I think (Iupati goes in the first for sure, Jerry and Asamoah are the next obvious choices).
