Eagles to work out another defensive end
The Eagles have been scouting & scheduling workouts with a number of defensive ends in this pre-draft period. According to Chris Steuber, the latest is reportedly Kansas State DE/DT Jeffrey Fitzgerald.
Playing just one-year at Kansas State after transferring from Virginia - where he was a two-year starter - after the 2007 season, the 6-foot-4, 270-pound Fitzgerald had a strong senior campaign for the Wildcats and recorded 40 tackles, 10 for a loss and seven sacks. Fitzgerald participated in the East-West Shrine Game this offseason, but was one of the notable snubs from the Scouting Combine last month. At Kansas State’s Pro Day on March 3rd, Fitzgerald showcased his athleticism and strength to NFL scouts in attendance by running a 4.83 in the 40, generating a 35-inch vertical and benching 225 pounds 21 times.

Is this guy any good?
If we were to draft him, what round would it be?
we had 44-6
you had 58-14
now we want an eagles SuperBowl win in Dallas next season
I've been looking around
All I could find about his draft projection was a mid rounder, probably not before the fourth. Could fall to fifth because the draft is so deep. Could be a good player, and the way Eagles rotate guys on the DL he could be a solid contributor in the 2010 season. Didn’t we draft Trent Cole in the fifth?
For what its worth, Walter Football has him going in round 6 or 7 and rated as the 19th DE in the class. Scout.com has him as the 25th DE but doesn’t give a round grade to him. The third place I checked was Draft Countdown, which doesn’t have anything on him except measurables. Like I said, for what its worth.
Let the beasting begin.

21 reps?
That’s not what I want to see from a lineman.

21 reps?
That’s not what I want to see from a lineman. I wouldn’t call that showing his strength…

Don’t have a clue why that posted twice…

is he really 6'4", or just press guide 6'4"?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this guy come in at 6’2", 255
no
he is a legit 6’4" and 270, in fact I’m a bit surprised the Eagles are working him out considering a lot of people consider him a 3-4 end. His strength is stopping the run.
Yeah, I actually looked him up on nfldraftscout.com
So, ok. He’s basically a lower-round Abiamiri. Maybe he can stay healthier than ol’ Vic.
Not surprised the Birds are also working him out though. They’re also bringing in Sapp from Clemson, and (evidently) this dude McCoy from Middle Tenn. State. Both are 3-4 OLBs, rather than what we clearly need: a LEGITIMATE 4-3 DE and a LEGITIMATE SAM
Just about all teams have 4-3 and 3-4 looks. It's just that they tend to stick to one or the other
more. I could see him playing some DT on 3rd down like they did Darren Howard.

You have a lineman who doesn’t have good strength, only had 1 really productive year in college, and isn’t much of a pass-rusher? Pass.
Combine measurements
I totally agree, Crabtree was 6’3 220 coming into the draft, once drafted he became 6’1 215, DeSean was 6’0 195 during combine, 6’2 255 is a very believable number
