Ew!
I just realized the reflection of those disgusting logos are on MY car hood. Now I have to wash it tonight.
Dirty Jersey
I live up North and I wish I had taken a picture the other day — I was stopping to get some bagels in the morning and a huge yellow Hummer pulled into the parking lot. I thought to myself “Wow, this guy is probably a real douche.” As I passed the back of the car, low and behold, the Dallas star is on his spare tire cover.
Don’t implicate all of Jersey because of some stupid people up north. Us South Jerseyans are upstanding folks.

Shame to say it but
I have an uncle who is an anti philly Cowboys and Lakers Fan. He dont talk about him much. Strange thing is, he recently had a change of heart and became a Phillies Fan, I wonder why?

Haha, yeah, there’s a girl I’m friends with that is now a converted Phillies “fan” as well. She asked me what i thought about their chances this year, and I politely told her that I couldn’t in good conscience recognize her as a true Phillies fan, and therefore we can never discuss them. She initially thought I was joking, but after it started to sink in that I wasn’t, she was legitimately offended.

What's the rule
on converting a girlfriend who’s family likes Yanks/Giants in to a Phillies/Birds fan?
by KornontheKobb on Mar 22, 2010 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions
Good question...
If she doesn’t really give a crap about football and is just trying to be a good wife/girlfriend while also feeling like one of the gang when the game is on, then I’m ok with it I suppose.
But if the girl actively follows a team and is a genuine fan, a switch is not ok. In fact, I’d question whether she was really a fan in the first place.
by JimmyK on Mar 22, 2010 7:26 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
In fact...
I converted my wife from the Giants to the Eagles. I actually made her swear allegiance to the Eagles on video. But she couldn’t care less about football. Her extent of getting excited about football is saying that the “Alyssa Milano collection” has some cute clothes and she wants to get some forbthe tailgate next year. But if I asked her to name 5 Eagles, she’d say “McNabb, the guy that they give the ball to, and #10.” For me, it’s just fun to remind her dad that I brought her over from the dark side.

Overboard much?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
McNabb's Chamionship game and Super Bowl career: 129/225, 57.3 completion percentage, 1426 yards, 6.3 YPA, 9 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, 72.9 QB rating, 1-5
I think that is a good idea.
The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!
Haha Very Nice
Sounds like we married the same girl. (Not literally)
I converted my wife from a Giants “fan” to an Eagles “fan” too. Her parents and everybody in her extended family are from North Jersey so they’re all big Giants fans.
The thing is though… I put quotes on “fan” because she’s a fan to the point where she’s happy when they win because I’m happy and she’ll enjoy putting her Eagles socks or jersey on during the playoffs to be “a part of the gang.”
For me, it’s just fun to remind her dad that I brought her over from the dark side.
I agree.
One of the best days for me was when I went to the Eagles @ Giants game in 2006 with my wife, her dad, and her uncle (both huge Giants fans) and I had her wearing a Westbrook jersey. Then to put a cherry on top, the Eagles won the game on a Trent Cole Int returned for a TD in the 4th quarter. Doesn’t get much better than that, does it?
I watched that game in an Eagles bar in Hoboken, and almost got my ass kicked. On the outside of the bar there were huge signs that said “Eagles Country,” and since there are only like… 2,000 (estimated) bars in Hoboken, if you’re a Giants fan and you’re going to one of 2 Eagles bars in town, you’re basically looking for a little shit-talking. And after that play, I ran my mouth for literally… like 15 minutes straight. One guy tried to attack me, but he was thrown out. Good times, good times.
Yeah We were getting ripped most of the game for being decked out in Eagles garb, but after that TD, we didn’t hear a word. It was a nice, uneventful exit of the stadium.
But yeah, that was a great game.
I don’t get to see many games in person, but I’ve had some pretty good luck I’d say. I saw that game in 2006 then I also got to see the “Maclin’s Breakout Game” when the Eagles killed the Bucs last year then I got to see “Dawk’s Return” when we won, as you know, on a last second FG.
…Maybe I should go to games more often.
She was never
a fan of the other teams, but she can definitely name all of the main offensive players at least and seems to enjoy watching all of the games more than the average girl (ie, she actually pays attention). And yes, it’s awesome reminding her brother and dad about what colors she wears now.

Does that make me a bad person? :(

Well, to be fair
I live in Anaheim (about 45 min away from LA) and immigrated over here about 10 years ago. My first exposure to professional basketball was with the 3-peat Lakers and I’ve been following them ever since.
Now with football, there was no football team in LA so I decided to pick the team with the coolest logo. That happened to be Eagles. I’ve been following them since Duce’s rookie year and stuck with them ever since. I’ve only been an Eagles fan for ~13 years so I know my fan experience is limited compared to most of you guys here but I’ve been pretty diligent in reading up on the history of the team and the league.

thats even worse
cause there is a good chance she might not even really follow either team.

I actually saw a truck in the parking lot of my local supermarket that had a Phillies & a Cowboys sticker. That offended me.
I wanted to take a picture, but there was a couple unloading their groceries in it and I figured I would seem creepy.
i would of been booing from accross the lot

You should keep a separate link on the left side of the front page dedicated to pictures taken by BGN folks of clear bandwagon offenses. You already have the Yankee/Cowboy truck that you took a picture of, now this car. It wouldn’t even have to be limited to vehicles. It could be people with mismatched clothes (Yankee hat, Lakers shirt, etc). It’s easy enough to black out people’s faces and/or license plates – I think it’d fun whenever someone submitted a new pic.
98th percentile
Solely because you recognized that would be viewed as creepy, you, Jason, are in the upper echelon of human beings.
I am a transplant
from North Jersey and now resident of Philly for 5 years now (plus 3 if you count college). If I still lived up there, I would probably vandalize this car as the driver must be mentally challenged. I’ve found though that I would be more afraid of coming into Philly with that on my car as opposed to heading up there with a ginormous Eagles decal on my rear windshield. Go Eagles.
(P.S. if that was Route 3 anywhere near Nutley, go hit up that Costco right there – liquor store attached – 21 dollar cases of Heineken bottles =D )
Not the worst ever bandwagoning ever...
Earlier this year I was visiting a friend in another dorm on campus, watching Cowboys-Eagles. This kid walks in with a Yankees hat on and asks the score of the game. Cowboys were up at the time and he says, “Yes, lets go ’boys.” He leaves the room and the next time he comes back, I asked him what his basketball team is. Guess what? The Lakers. He leaves again and I turn to my friend and say, “Definitely a Red Wings fan too.”
Yankees-Cowboys-Lakers
The ultimate frontrunner?
"College is only 4 years. The Eagles are a lifetime pursuit." - IronHank
And you didn't kick the kid's teeth in?!?
I don’t know if I would have been able to resist.
Well, maybe I wouldn’t have hurt the kid physically, but I would’ve quizzed the shit out of him.
(Name 10 guys on the Cowboys roster, Who wears #X for team X, what was their record last year, etc. etc.)
When I was in college, that was one of my favorite things to do to that guy. Those poser/bandwagon fans are the worst. They associate themselves with the “best” teams, but really know nothing about the team except for what city they’re from and what colors they wear.
this article is from a few years ago but it’s pretty decent.
Ten tips if you’re jumping on a bandwagon
This made me think of that
.. when they see that your bumper is covered in Red Sox, Yankees, Lakers, Celtics, Cowboys, Patriots, USC football and Duke basketball stickers. As though it’s your fault that you have deep, childhood ties to all those teams!
They call me The Professor.
I know that
most of you might hate me but I’m a NY fan across the board except that I’m a die hard eagles fan ever since my cousin introduced them to me at like age 6. I’m a bigger eagles fan than any NY team though so its not too bad! I also love Philly and may end up working there.
There are a TON of CowBitch fans in upstate NY (Binghatmon area) for some reason though

why not tell the guy in Jetta to add a Manchester United decal and finish the trifecta of the three richest sports franchises in the world – let alone winners.

Scum of the Earth, my friend
I live in Berks County, which is about an hour outside of Philly, and I’m constantly amazed, that in a state with two great teams like the Steelers and the Eagles to root for, how many Dallas stars you see on people’s jackets, on their cars, and on their caps.
I can understand Patriots bandwagoners, and NYG bandwagoners – at least these two teams have done something noteworthy in the past decade.
But the Cowboys’ lone noteworth accomplishment this past decade was winning their first playoff game before getting blown out in the divisional round of the playoffs. Are you telling me that the Cowboys are still attracting bandwagon fans based on their early 90s success alone? Amazing.
I am also a Berks Countainian
And I concur with Myrons assessment of this region. Redskins Fans, Giants fans, Cowwhore fans. It’s a venerable cesspool of bad choices here. But remember, the founding father’s loved the Eagles, that’s why they made it the National Bird.

greatest bandwagon switch ever
I have a friend from college who became a “huge” Mets fan before last season started (right around the time they picked up K-Rod, coincidence?) and would constantly give me shit for being a Phils fan. He immediately went out and bought a mets jersey and hat and wore them everywhere. Halfway through the summer when they became god awful, he switched onto the Yankees bandwagon and started wearing Yankees shit. My friends from college that are Yankees friends heard about this, immediately confronted him, and refused his fandom for the Yankees.
Also, the kid became a huge Giants fan after they won the SB.
During the 2nd or 3rd week of football this season
I was talking to this guy on my bus. We were talking about fantasy football, and I asked him who his favorite team was. He said the cowboys.
First of all, I’d like to say I live in north-east Jersey.
So I go to him, how can you like the Cowboys, this is Giant’s land. He responds saying that the Giants are his 2nd favorite team and he’s seeing them play on sunday.
I wanted to hit him and tell him point blank the Giants do not want your fandom.
Never assume skill at bouncing a ball makes you smarter than the guy who built the court.
When there's a WILL there's a WAY
I would imagine New Jersey has much of the more twisted ‘fans’ in the country, no matter which region. Guys who don’t quite ‘get’ being a fan of X team, and knowing that being a fan of one team mutually excludes others.
and I go to school in Jersey, so I can back this up.

im in northern most east corner of NJ
i have no problem goin to my local watering hole and doin battle w/ giants fans, naturally most of my buddies are G’men fans. But whenever there’s a Dallas game, there’s always in influx of Dallas jersey’s all over the bar. It’s the most annoying thing ever, and they’re the most annoying fans ever. Logic is lost on them, atleast you can converse with a Giant fan. Most actually think Eli is overrated.

there’s this fellow I am FB friends with (younger brother of a girl I used to go to school with) who was an ardent Phils fan, putting stuff like, “NL East Champs!” “Let’s go Phils”, “Do it for Harry”, etc. Somehow, in the few days between the end of the ‘09 NLCS and the start of the WS, he became a full-fledged Yankees fan, going so far as to taunt other Phillies fans he knew. He changed his profile picture to Calvin pissing on the Phillies logo (you know what I mean), and after the Yanks won it all, in addition to rubbing it in many peoples’ faces, he changed his profile picture to the Yanks holding the trophy.
I figured as long as we were all venting…
Wow
to bail on your team when they are in the World Series!? Thats low.
to bail on your team
It was never his team. That’s the problem.
But alcatraz… that is ridiculously lame. Don’t ya hate people like that.
ueah
Looking back, idk if he was ever a fan of either (i didn’t really know him well at all, his sis was a phils fan tho) but either way, the idea of being an ‘impostor’ of sorts is just low.

I have said this before
But I stripped the one guy here of his Eagles fandom for constantly putting them down. I asked him how he could be their fan and yet always laugh at their losses and root against them. I told him he wasn’t allowed to root for them anymore, so he switched to being a Saints fan. He did indeed sprain a few ligaments jumping on that bandwagon.

I saw the worst one the other day
Pulled into a Wawa….guy pulls across two handicap spots on a an angle right in front of wawa…..gets out and is obviously not handicapped, nor does he have a H/C placard. What is he wearing……..a TO #81 Blue Cowboys Jersey.
Where I live they have the perfect decal for that guy
Some people put them on the windshields of cars that park in handicapped spaces, on sidewalks, at crosswalks, etc.
“I’M A DONKEY AND I PARK WHERE I WANT”
From what I’ve heard, they are very hard to remove too.
Officially contributing to worldwide confusion since 1997
obviously the star is awful..but...
wouldnt you expect to see the yankees sign on the back of cars in N. Jersey?…My cousin is a yankees fan and also a dallas fan. He readily admits to being a bandwagon fan though, since he was 5 when they started winning SB’s in the 90’s. Although he still sticks with them win or lose, and readily accepts the mockery. He’s a yankees fan because he’s from north jersey.
It just seems to me that this would be more of an outrage in virgina or basically anywhere else in the U.S. besides NJ/NY and Conn.
