Mike Bell 2009 Highlights
Ponder this for a second.... Mike Bell, the #3 RB on the depth chart, led the team in 2009 with 172 carries. Now, simple logic would stand to reason that the guy that gets the most work is the #1 guy, right? Wrong. I found it unusually interesting that the Saints opted to let their 3rd back shoulder most of the load last season. I wonder how often this has happened in NFL history. And then how many times did that team go on to win the Super Bowl? Anyway, the Eagles signed him to an offer sheet, and hopefully the Saints choose not to match. Here are his 2009 highlights:
Post your thoughts on his performance and what you expect his role will be.

Like I've said all along
he’s going to back up McCoy and Weaver. I think he’ll do a fine job if he takes on a bigger role. Not bad for a 3rd back

He's not "backing up" Weaver
Weaver is a fullback, the other two are running backs. Weaver will be playing ahead of the RB, directly behind the QB, in two back sets. When two backs are on the field, Weaver will almost assuredly be one of them, and you will very rarely see Weaver alone in the backfield. You won’t be seeing Shady or Bell play the fullback position.

yes, since weaver didnt get anyyy carries last year
and we just signed him to a huge money extension to block here n there
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
I think his main role is with Weaver in the I
Most those highlights Bell is in the I formation following the FB
Weaver was our power rusher last season, but that also ment we couldn’t line-up in the I and pound the rock (because McCoy danced to much).
We’ll have to see his hands, but McCoy/Weaver might still be our single back formation guys for pass blocking and catching threats, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the main guy lined-up when we’re in I formation.
Maybe
You guys think we might see a ‘Heavy’ package at some point if we sign him? I mean, I know it’d be crazy but it might be pretty cool to see.
Maybe just Jackson out wide, then we bring in MJG’s fat ass, put him next to Stacy Andrews, put Justice on the end of the OL and put Celek outside of him? Kinda like the Power-I?

I always try to assume what new players mean
Last year, I was fairly certain that with Peters and Weaver we were finally going to commit to a ground game…that didn’t happen, so I don’t think the Bell signing means we’ll do anything different
"EFF YOU, WE'RE WINNING ANYWAY!!!!!!" (Bye, Dawk)
I remember this formation we had in high school...
It was called beefy because we brought out our fullback in the running back position and put our tackle in the fullback position(he was super athletic) then our backup tackles at the tight end spots and we were guranteed atleast 10+ yds even tho the defense knew it was a run. So I say bring dunlap in at the tight end and put celek or some big athletic tight end we have by the start of the season and maybe try it. It could be a guranteed atleast 3 or 4 yds and that could be the diffence of a touchdown or field goal or worst nothing. But that’s jus a thought…high school was the greatest. Hell even the QB fumbled the snap one time and our tackle picked it up then ran thru a couple guys and broke for like 30 yds before being caught and brought down by a gang of tacklers
