Sean Payton really hates Jerry Jones, which I respect.

Draft sets up well for Eagles' needs | Philadelphia Daily News | 03/01/2010
This year's draft is said to be deep on the defensive side of the ball, specifically as it regards to defensive line and secondary.

NFL Combine Notes: Rolle Too Smart For Own Good?
Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris was quoted as saying Myron Rolle "deserted" his Seminole teammates as if being a Rhodes Scholar was some kind of character flaw. It is true, his draft stock probably will suffer because of his academic pursuits. Go figure.

Taylor Mays' Stock Decline Could Benefit Eagles
The decline in Mays’ draft stock directly impacts the Eagles. It is no secret they need help at the safety position. A year ago, they never would have had a shot at the 6-3, 230-pound Southern Cal star but now there is a good chance he will be on the board when their turn comes at No. 24.

Jets releasing Thomas Jones; Lito, too? | Philadelphia Daily News | 03/02/2010
The Jets also will release cornerback Lito Sheppard, acquired last year in a trade with the Eagles, according to Newsday. Were he to remain, the Jets would owe Sheppard, 28, a $10 million roster bonus that would have triggered another 4-year contract.

Eagles ready to spend as NFL Free Agency begins Friday | Philly2Philly.com
Free agency starts at the end of the week and the Philadelphia Eagles, with needs to fill on both sides of the ball, could be busy shoppers.New Eagles GM Howie Roseman could be making some big decisions in the next week. While not tipping his hand in either direction new Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said the team would do whatever it takes to improve the club

NFL Scouting Combine is overhyped and overrated | - lehighvalleylive.com
I'm a huge football fan but I haven't been wasting much of my time watching the hours and hours of coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine on the NFL Network.

(clapping) Outstanding! Well done.

I’d’ve paid money to see Jerry’s reaction…

Burn....

Major burn…

But one thing I don’t get. The choice presented was either burn Jones (which we call can get behind) or piss off the Superbowl winning coach… What was missing is .. he’s the coach of the team that just beat your home town team (assumed due to location of restaurant) in the Superbowl.

Unless there was some unmentioned (and large) tip placed with Payton’s request.. the only other reasoning the waiter should do what he did was (a) Not an Indy Fan and/or (b) Fan of NFC East team other than Cowboys.

Situation reversed… March 2005, restaurant in Philly… What would you do if it Bill Beeeeels-a-chick was looking to drain a bottle of Al Davis’s favorite bubbly and you were the waiter.

Granted there are a few reasons that’s not a fair comparison; More Haters of Bill than Sean… and Oakland isn’t in the NFC with us… but hard to think of a diff evil NFC team owner not in the East at the moment (mind keeps slipping to Jones & Snyder)

Great question. If I’m the waiter and the decision is mine. Belichick gets it, because I want the big tip and I’m unlikely to get the Al Davis table the next day. However, if I’m the manager, I’m telling Belichick to Eff himself right in the ear.

by JimmyK on Mar 2, 2010 4:55 PM EST up reply actions

As the "waiter"

Unless someone can quickly find a new bottle, Davis is gonna stiff his waiter and flick off the entire restaurant on his way out.. your coworker (poor guy that gets Davis) and your manager will get pissed at your decision for upsetting Davis (a billionaire is probably bigger spender, though maybe not tipper).. and even more so if you were the manager, you’d be pissed that (you) the waiter gave into Bill, instead of telling him no (or to Eff himself in the ear)… That tip better be worth a possible lost job.

by Sparki on Mar 2, 2010 5:01 PM EST up reply actions

That tip better be worth a possible lost job.

Eh, I’m only a waiter. What do I care?

by JimmyK on Mar 2, 2010 5:13 PM EST up reply actions

Dude...

Wait jobs are harder to come by when you think. Then again, given the chance to insult Jerry Jones, I’d give up a 6 figure job with stock options and 4 weeks paid vacation.

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Mar 2, 2010 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

Uh.. This side talk isn't about Jones

Looks like someone didn’t read the reversal scenario..

by Sparki on Mar 2, 2010 7:09 PM EST up reply actions

I know it's not about Jones

I’m just saying I’d lose my job to shit on his day. Any other owner/coach, unlikely.

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

by IronHank on Mar 2, 2010 7:24 PM EST up reply actions

Yea... but

We all would, that’s why it’s not about him. Not as interesting a question.

by Sparki on Mar 3, 2010 7:14 AM EST up reply actions

Al Davis really doesn't need anybody to shit on his day...

The old man probably shits on himself all the time anyway. What a dinosaur. I feel bad for the people that work for him.

Jones will likely only the Cowboys for a long time

Payton could be out of a job in four years. If I’m the manager, I take the long-term business.

by Tracer Bullet on Mar 2, 2010 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

But

if you move fast and and get davis his food with amazing speed he will likely offer you a contract with some nice guatanteed $$

Sean Payton earns some serious cool points.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

first news out of the combine was Mays ran a 4.24 40yrd dash. that may have elevated him back up into the teens if it’s true.

Chase Utley is so good that on one pitch he stole second, third and the shortstop's hat.

by ajr142 on Mar 2, 2010 4:53 PM EST reply actions

scratch that, just saw the post by JasonB. stupid itchy timer fingers.

Chase Utley is so good that on one pitch he stole second, third and the shortstop's hat.

by ajr142 on Mar 2, 2010 4:54 PM EST up reply actions

He's very big and very fast

So is Roy Williams. Watch Mays’ tape. Somebody is going to be very pissed off they burned a first round pick and I hope it’s not the Eagles.

by Tracer Bullet on Mar 2, 2010 5:41 PM EST up reply actions

that is exactly my opinion on him

He could be good for other teams that use an in the box safety a lot but we need guys that can cover more than be big

Let's get it Birds.

by homestar2281 on Mar 2, 2010 8:53 PM EST up reply actions

too bad

Its a little slower. For a minute I thought there’d be a defender capable of giving D-Jax a good race to the endzone.

by Sparki on Mar 3, 2010 7:20 AM EST up reply actions

The part about Raheem Morris' comment on Myron Rolle made me laugh

Seriously, a 3-13 coach thinks being a Rhodes Scholar is a desertion.
Maybe that helps explain why he’s 3-13.

Eh, football mentality. I agree it’s stupid, but that’s the way coaches and players think.

Tim Tebow, the much-scrutinized Florida quarterback, ran the 40 in 4.70, a full second lower than his best previous time.

From the third article… haha wtf

by yomjoseki on Mar 2, 2010 10:31 PM EST reply actions

I'm sure ESPN has already figured this out

and It probably has to do with the change in his throwing mechanic…

by Sparki on Mar 3, 2010 7:17 AM EST up reply actions

I can’t tell if they’re joking or just made a typo, but they’re pretty much saying Tebow ran a 3.70 40.

It doesn't say a full second SLOWER

It says lower. Maybe they meant he ran a 5.70?

That’s almost as hard to believe.

Newsflash

An unknown NFL GM announces he will do everything in his power to make his team worse in 2010!

Every team looks to improve it is just the Eagles in recent years are one of the better teams at it.

Myron Rolle - What is he crazy?

Rhodes Scholar, studied at Oxford, Wants to be a Neuro-Surgeon.

But first he wants to beat his body into a pulp and age prematurely by playing pro-football. Ummm, if he is good enough to start, the wear and tear on his body and brain – yes guys his brain – just isn’t worth the risk. Not that it happens to everybody, and it mostly happens to running backs, but did you know that they have autopseys and studies on the brains of pro ball players who die prematurely of accidents and found that their brains look like early stage alzheimers patients from all the hits they take?

This kid is not kind of smart, or really smart, he’s brilliant. Does he really need the risks of pro-football?

by IggleGreen on Mar 3, 2010 8:15 AM EST reply actions

Football players make a hell of a lot more money than neurosurgeons, and besides that, maybe he just likes to play football.

by IronHank on Mar 3, 2010 11:18 AM EST up reply actions

Medical school is expensive

Football players make a lot of money.

Now, I think it’s a bad idea because surgeons need especially nimble hands and a few years in the NFL are likely to leave his hands a mess even if he escapes with a healthy brain.

by Tracer Bullet on Mar 3, 2010 10:35 AM EST up reply actions

This is the kind of kid who should have played for Paterno at PSU.

Or Ivy League, but if he really wants to be a pro ball player, that would have been an issue.
I guess Dawk and Hank do have one point, what if he really just wants to play pro ball?

The money he would get as a Neurosurgeon – even after paying off the student loans – should be enough for most people.

by IggleGreen on Mar 3, 2010 11:44 AM EST up reply actions

I can just see it now… down the line, whatever team he plays for, his first post-game interview… “Well, it’s not brain surgery.”

I am the people's troll :3™

by yomjoseki on Mar 3, 2010 2:08 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve always thought of Payton as a pompous ass and he proved it but it was at Jerry Jones’ expense so obviously I find it humorous.
