Weaver Speaks On Tapp Trade

                       450hawks22_080mu_tapp_medium

Darryl Tapp is the second former Seahawk in as many years who will now call Philadelphia his football home. Of course, former Seattle fullback Leonard Weaver made the most of his first season in Philadelphia last season, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl and a new three-year contract.

Weaver had this to say about the Eagles new defensive end.

"He's a Julius Peppers/Dwight Freeney mixture type of player," Weaver said. "I think that after going through the drought he's been through the past three years in Seattle with the losses that he's hungry and ready to come out and prove himself again."

I was always comfortable with it

I trust our FO, and the SeaGulls board reactions showed me that we got a steal.

woo!

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

wouldn’t it be “Who”? and not “Woo”?

I’m down with it. Clemons was a situational pass rusher. He wasn’t terrible, but he didn’t really get on the field enough to be worth having.

by zfg on Mar 18, 2010 5:49 PM EDT reply actions

The Eagles' system doesn't fit most DEs... but we fit Tapp

Most popular DEs like to just run around OTs and get sacks. The Eagles system asks players to engage the OT and react to the play on 1st and 2nd down usually. Tapp already does this… hard working guy, I think he’ll be a 3 down DE for us.

plus he draws a double team.

Umm..

I think Cole will still draw most of the double teams on snaps, but hopefully that’ll free up Tapp to show some of his own mojo in midnight green, or whoever will be starting opposite.

Living in Seattle I’ve seen the kid play and he’s legit. He has room for improvement, but he’s still young and probably entering his prime in the next couple seasons. I’m excited.

thats a very good point i was thinking about this the other day

having cole on the other side just makes tapps potential limitless

from what I’ve watched

Hopefully they can feed off of each other well

As usually my hopes are super high for our new acquisition

but I haven’t watched much Seahawks the last three years.

i think this guy can start

for us at LDE he can make plays and maybe bring some constant pressure to help our corners nice pickup.

by HawaiiEaglesFanatic on Mar 18, 2010 7:38 PM EDT reply actions

the seahawks didnt really have a de that demanded to be double teamed

but if they did at any point it was tapp and with tapp coming on the other side of a guaranteed double on cole it gives tapp an even better advantage … i have high hopes for this kid … victor who ?

why?

he would be worse then Gocong there. Can we please stop with the hybrids. Hybrids work in college because of the talent level or lack of, at the NFL level where the talent level is much greater, they rarely work. We need an OLB. Lets get an OLB, not a DE who may become an OLB. Save those type for 3-4 defenses.

Can we please stop with the hybrids

what am i three ? lol dont give me the can we please stop routine lol

my main point was i dont see victor having any impact at lde with tapp being signed now … ya jerk lol

lol

Go stand in the corner!!!!! It’s time for a time out!!!!!!!
I just remember when we signed jackson and then hearing we will try him at safety. macho at safety didn’t work, and I don’t care if he has played some safety before. This draft is infested with safety talent so why can’t we draft one of them and let them play it?
I then see your post on Abirami and I had flashbacks to that and really hoiw many of those really work out, especially in a 4-3 system. Thomas Davis went from s to LB in Carolina, Demarcus Ware is doing well obviously, but in a 3-4. Just saying, I either want him to learn how to play his DE position or let him go and free up a roster spot for a contributor. That’s my thought process. Sorry I treated you like a 3 year old, it was actually meant as an over stressed emotional response to the notion rather then a target just at you.
