Saints Unlikely to Match Eagles' Offer to Bell
Neither side expects the Saints to match the offer, especially after they expressed interest in free agent running back Justin Fargas. The Eagles laid out the details of the deal to prevent New Orleans from matching.

Shawn Andrews, such a waste | Philadelphia Daily News | 03/17/2010
He was such a good player when his back was right, and his head was right. He was as good an athlete as they've ever had play the guard position. Andrews could have been a cornerstone for this team for a decade -- quirky, yes, but a cornerstone. But now he's gone.

Shawn Andrews speaks, doesn't tweet | Philadelphia Inquirer | 03/17/2010
As interesting as it is to try and decipher Shawn Andrews on Twitter, here are some excerpts from an interview he had today with 97.3-ESPN in Atlantic City:

Am I alone

in entertaining the possibility of 36 back in philly with a lesser role and paycut? I’m going to miss those shovel passes, swing routes, and screens…

Interesting what shawn had to say.. i’m curious as to who’s willing to pick him up.

I have my doubts. I don’t think it was the money and role that got him cut. Despite having surgery before last season, his knees and ankles were still screwed up. I don’t think any teams out there think he can stay healthy long enough to justify signing him.

True

I just don’t want to see him in another uniform, with all due respect… Possible rb’s coach/assistant?

Would love to have him mentor McCoy longer than just a season.

i just don't think that'll happen.

i love westy, but.. nope :(

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

with the (offer sheet) signing of mike bell..

i highly highly doubt 36 comes back.
unless new orleans chooses to match the offer.

It has everything to do with the injuries ...

… zfg has it right. Even if his knees and ankles are fine, he’s one concussion scare from being done for good. Didn’t Aikman and Young leave that way … like a little too soon in terms of them still having a lot to give a team, but at clearly the right time since they’re two of the most coherent ex-football players on TV? And they left at a time when concussions weren’t quite the hot-button issue they are now.

If he was going to play anywhere, it was here, where he was beloved and no personnel guy had to stick his neck out to acquire him. Nobody wants to be the guy who get Westbrook hurt, although if someone thought they could get 16-19 games out of him, I wouldn’t put it past a GM to try.

Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome

The Saints fans dont seem to care about Bell leaving. At all. That should say something. I know they have Thomas and Bush, but still.

He’s a 3d string running back with 2 talented guys ahead of him in a passing offense. I can’t imagine they’d shed many tears over him. I’d be more concerned if he was supposed to be a big part of the offense, but my guess is he’ll be competing with Eldra Buckley and/or a guy they draft.

Man some of the posters over at ESPN make my head hurt

I know it’s not a ton of money in the football world, but with half a million guaranteed to Mike Bell, I think that means he’s expected to get a significant amount of carries compared to what a lot of us were thinking. I’m talking in the 125+ish carry range.

I am the people's troll :3™
