Not Eagles related, but a notable move. Broncos didn't give up much, but then again they didn't get much in return...

=(

I wanted Hank back.

We did get A Hank back

Wrong one though

"That's what I love so much about this team. We have some warriors here. We have some guys who go out there and fight. That's the best thing about this team. No matter what happens, we just keep fighting. You have to love that."

Does anyone else remember how much Hank sucked in his last year or so here? I haven’t really followed him since he left and maybe he’s been solid… but I remember him as the worst player on the field in the 2004 superbowl.

by JasonB on Mar 14, 2010 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

He was and Belichick said after the game that one of the keys was the pressure they brought up the middle most of the game because Fraley/Hicks were the weak links in that offense. McNabb had some brutal INTs in that game but people forget he was sacked 4 times and hurried another 8 times.

by MG77 on Mar 14, 2010 10:04 PM EDT up reply actions

don’t forget the nonexistant running game.

Actually Peyton Hillis is pretty good, he is a brusier at RB and can block like a beast.

I think Josh Mcdaniels can definetly develop Quinn better than Magini’s crew did

eff you we winning anyway

by eagleswin on Mar 14, 2010 7:09 PM EDT reply actions

Peyton Hillis is just a throw in for me. I mean we’re talking about a guy that the Browns essentially traded two first round picks for. And the return on their investment is a fullback and a couple late round picks?

That’s a big fail.

And Josh McDaniels hasn’t shown me anything as a coach yet. For all his antics last year, they ended up no different than they were with Shanahan. PLus he’ll have chased his two best offensive players out of town by this offseason. We’ll see with him.

by JasonB on Mar 14, 2010 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions

That was mainly because of Mike Nolan and he is out of town now because he didn’t feel comfortable with McDaniels.

I think Quinn can do good with McDaniels. McDaniels seems to be good with QBs he got production out of Kyle freaking Orton last year and had one analyst calling him a top 5 QB at one point although I consider that analyst an idiot most of the time.

by The Legend on Mar 14, 2010 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Yup. The defense was Nolan. Now they won’t have much going for them.

in all fairness I might be able to make a pro bowl with Brandon Marshall

I couldn’t agree with you more on point 1.
But with point 2, had you told anybody in Denver wk 1 of the regular season that the Broncos would be 8-8 with Kyle Orton as the starter you’d’ve been laughed at. After beating his old boss in wk6, Josh didn’t know what to do with the Bye week so he picked up a punter (Mitch Berger?), I think that was the worst timed bye ever…
It killed the rest of the season.

I don’t like that he has continued Shanny’s tradition of switching DC’s at the end of every season, esp since Mike Nolan was a major part of why the Donkeys were 8-8, but we’ll see – as the others have noted.

I say, each new coach should get 3 years to prove their worth. Andy was what? 3-13 or something in his first year? I for some reason like Josh McDaniels. He made watching the Broncos palatable this past year and living in Denver, that’s saying something…

by cavortingEagle on Mar 14, 2010 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I certainly am not writing him off after only a year. I agree that a coach deserves 3 years. I’m just saying that I’m not sold on the guy.

Stupid Brady Quinn

Dallas got Anthony Spencer and Felix Jones becuase of him.

by rajav on Mar 14, 2010 8:15 PM EDT reply actions

Hmmm

Now I know they signed Delhomme and Wallace, but seriously they arent good enough to start for any team and neither of them is a huge upgrade over Quinn. So with that being said I feel like Holmgren & Heckert are preparing for something and we are in a position to speculate if they will make a serious move for Mcnabb or Kolb and I feel that Kolb is the highest priority for them. Of course they could just draft a QB, but Heckert’s passion for Kolb should be affecting his decisions.

by Isi_eagle on Mar 15, 2010 8:59 AM EDT reply actions

So this leaves Cleveland with...

Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace at QB.

Delhomme is just a stop-gap or spot starter to me and Wallace is a very good backup, but not a guy you want to build an offense around.

I could be wrong, but my feeling is Cleveland isn’t done with this position… do they draft Jimmy Clausen? Do they trade up for Bradford? Or do they trade for a veteran? Kolb/McNabb?

Something tells me after bringing in Delhomme and Wallace… they won’t be trading for an Eagles QB… especially not McNabb.

by Smitty2K3 on Mar 15, 2010 10:08 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah, I think it’s now obvious they’ll draft a QB,

by JasonB on Mar 15, 2010 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions

i think

with delhomme AND wallace now there, they won’t look for another aged quarterback (mcnabb) and i think they would rather draft a qb than have kolb, because the way i’ve read it, the eagles chances of giving up kolb are next to nothing.

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

by antoniak on Mar 16, 2010 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions

Josh McDaniels

is also well known around the league as one of the best QB developers/teachers. Don’t be surprised if Brady Quinn’s career takes off in Denver.

by Eagles need to run on Mar 15, 2010 11:46 AM EDT reply actions

I will be surprised.

Very surprised

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.
