The Linc - The McNabb trade hoax

Phony Web page claims Donovan McNabb traded to 49ers - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
If you're going to go to the trouble of putting up a decent-looking hoax page, at least go the extra mile and run it through the spelling and grammar check.

Vick: I can't be a disgruntled employee | Philly | 03/12/2010
"If I’m in the same situation, I’ll just have to suck it up and go out and play and listen to what Andy [Reid] wants me to do and understand I’m there to play a certain role to try to help the Eagles win a Super Bowl," he said. "I can’t be a disgruntled employee, because that’s not who I am."

Philadelphia Eagles seeking Jay Cutler esque bounty in return for Kevin Kolb | NFL News & Rumors
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora is reporting that Eagles have set the bounty they want in return for Kolb at two first round picks, similar to the haul Denver received for then Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler from the Chicago Bears. If the Eagles stick true to that asking price, they are sending a strong signal to the rest of the league that unless you bust the door down with an irrefutable offer, Kolb is not for sale.

Bucs will host Eagles S Sean Jones Friday
The Bucs continue to look for safety help. Philadelphia Eagles free agent safety Sean Jones is scheduled to visit Tampa Bay on Friday.

Could Eagles Dip Into Restricted Free Agency? - Philadelphia Eagles
Because of an absence in available difference makers in unrestricted free agency, there are rumors that the Eagles could be players in restricted free agency instead.

At first his comments were cute, but is anyone else starting to get a little irked by Michael Vick?

by JimmyK on Mar 12, 2010 4:35 PM EST reply actions

Yes. He’s full of shit.

by mcatanoso on Mar 12, 2010 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

Absolutely

He should be happy that we took the f-in PR hit for him. He’ll take whatever role we feel like giving him (rather, he better). Seriously dude, just like people were quick to say about BWest, I say to Vick after a year:

Shut the fuck up dude. Take your money, do your PR shit and stop answering dumbass repetitive and speculative (at best) questions about your future. Not every city is ready to take that kind of hit, but its because we’re not a bunch of pussies, that you actually survive here. I think you are a talented QB, but focus on what you have in immediately in front of you, and start studying tape now, so when you get put in, you wont be afraid to zing it one of our INCREDIBLE wide receivers. Oh, and maybe be a role model for your brother Marcus (is he on Miami’s roster still?)

Nuff Said – I’m done with it. I’m just tired of seeing articles about him. All I want to hear is how we’re winning it all next year and how.

Michael Vick...

…is a stupid asshole. Nothing he says matters.

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

Vick can't complain

He know he doesn’t have the right and would shatter the little reputation he has regained.

by Team Serbia on Mar 12, 2010 4:42 PM EST reply actions

geez, "Donavon Mcnabb"?

If you’re gonna make a good hoax, at least make damn sure you spell everything correctly. Especially the name of the guy the article is about.

by alcatraz0109 on Mar 12, 2010 4:43 PM EST reply actions

…and “San Fransisco.” You’d think that if the guy wasn’t sure how to spell Francisco, he’d go just say “Eff it, I’ll make it Carolina instead.”

McKnabb traded to Bufalo!

it was a joke.

do you really think someone would take the time to make a fake site look legit.. and then not spell a damn thing right? lol they’re not that stupid.. i think it was to show that it was a joke.

I think if it were a joke it would have been more of an Onion-style writeup.

Far as I can tell the guy was trying to make it seem serious but couldn’t spell a damn thing right.

Yet again more evidence that the Eagles Front Office is completely clueless.

How can you ask for two first round picks for a guy that you picked 36th and has started a grand total of two NFL games?

Now personally I think Cutler sucks but at least he put up good numbers in Denver and was at least somewhat deserving of being traded for two first rounders.

Hopefully the Eagles are just sending the message that they want two first rounders in hopes of robbing some team blind, but short of that they just seem like a delusional front office.

by EREX21 on Mar 12, 2010 5:24 PM EST reply actions

TWO FIRST ROUNDERS:

the team that comes to mind, that has two first rounders, is the seattle seahawks.
and they ARE interested in kolb. hmm…

The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

by antoniak on Mar 12, 2010 5:27 PM EST reply actions

no way in hell

we get both of their first rounders this year…it would def. be one in ’11.

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

by greenbean#twoOH on Mar 12, 2010 5:59 PM EST up reply actions

Keep in mind, how do we really know that's true?

Also, if Seattle offered them a 1st and a 2nd, do you think the Eagles would turn it down? I agree that two 1st rounders is insanely steep for Kolb, but you have to take a lot of these reported rumors with a grain of salt.

Sometimes it's just fun to take the family for a spin around the lake in the old boat. Even if it's not your family or your boat, and they're screaming for you to stop.

by Baron Dainer Von Tresvant on Mar 12, 2010 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

i'd have to take the two first rounders

if they were dumb enough to offer them.

Quite a Ransom set by the Eagles, hopefully the Seahawks are dumb and trade both of their 1st rounders this year for him.

Wishful thinking I know, but I would love for that to happen

He’s a really nice guy and well known among NJ football circles. He does some high school scouting for colleges.

by JasonB on Mar 13, 2010 8:40 AM EST up reply actions

I believe Andy will not trade Kolb

Unless we get a ridiculous offer, and even then it’s a maybe. He likes hoarding QB’s like Gruden did. Kolb won’t be traded unless Andy has his eyes on a QB in the draft.

But I really don’t see it happening. The first player Andy drafted was a QB. He knows McNabb is on the downside of his career. He knows what he has in Kolb. He places the highest value on the QB position. A trade of Kolb, regardless of what we get, would be the most surprising event of Andy’s regime to me.
