"Eagles Sign Chad Hall"

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed a new free agent receiver, but he's no one who has played for any other NFL team. Receiver Chad Hall, 23, has completed two years of service as a second lieutenant in the Air Force, and he is now free to pursue a career in pro football. Hall played receiver, running back, and kick returner at the Air Force Academy, and he was named the Mountain West Conference offensive player of the year in 2007. He had 1,478 rushing yards, 524 receiving yards, and 2,683 all-purpose yards. Hall set the school record with 275 rushing yards in one game, against Army. It sounds to us like he's a scaled-down version of Percy Harvin, who might be able to keep DeSean Jackson from being exposed to injury while returning punts.

yomjoseki, you got to live the dream!

He’ll be a fun guy to watch and root for in the preseason. Hopefully he can make the practice squad.

Sometimes it's just fun to take the family for a spin around the lake in the old boat. Even if it's not your family or your boat, and they're screaming for you to stop.

Hey, I can't hate the move really cause I don't much about the guy

But..If we were gonna sign a WR, I think we needed one with freakn SIZE! Like a 6’4 – 218 lb player. But i see why they signed him. Special teams and versatile player. But i hope we STILL get another WR with size!! Ingram, hopefully, will pan out which should help us in the redzone and create mis-matches across the field..but his knee injury, u never know!! Plus we could really use a big WR anyway. Doesn’t need to be a #1 guy but a guy who can man handle, and bully DB’s!

They’ll take a flier on someone in the mid to late rounds of the draft and sign a few undrafted FAs to fill out training camp/taxi squad. Clearly size isn’t something Reid cares about, as he’s almost always gotten these lanky 5’10" to 6’’1" guys.

by Cormican on Mar 11, 2010 4:30 PM EST up reply actions

Clearly Reid didnt care are about a REAL fullback and a REAL return man either!!

But he learned from his mistake

That's not true

Jon Ritchie was supposed to fill the true FB role and didn’t pan out. And for several years he tried drafting true fullbacks who always seemed to suffer injuries. Return men are hard to find, but Andy did try there as well.

Now, those guys may not have worked out, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Andy had no interest in filling those roles.

In All Seriousness

This is a good move. Watch some film; he’s an explosive little dude. Very versatile.

I guess the Birds hope we found a mini Percy Harvin here.

Basically, there’s no risk. Maybe something good will happen.

i love this move

I remember watching this guy a couple years back unfortunately when air force routed Notre Dame. I forgot all about him. He’s extremely versatile from what I saw. Great pick-up.

Supposedly he worked out at Utah's pro day this year

wouldn’t mind seeing his numbers. He looks pretty slow; was getting caught from behind a lot.

he had a brief stint with the steelers, but has found other success

After football practice with the Philadelphia Eagles he interned for well-known professor and economist Peter Linneman. He is the co-founder of MDinfo.com.

guess he did find some success

let's not pretend every little known with some acclaim will be an impact player

it’s like mallet, there’s no sense saying he’s part of the solution until he shows us he can DO something at the NFL level.

although since he is an ex-air force guy, I really do hope he succeeds, if not here then somewhere else

Go Air Force!

sorry, I had too… he’s been out of football for a couple years but at least he is still in good shape and he came cheap. Hopefully he can make the team/practice squad

We sign two WR… when are you cutting Curtis? Or is that too premature?

I don't want Curtis cut. I want him re structured.

Curtis was obviously not ready, nor will he be to be a number 1 receiver, but as a 4th or slot guy, he can be awesome. See his time with St. Louis when Bruce and Holt had the top 2 spots locked down. IAs long as he is healthy, Curtis will do fine.
This guy looks alright. We will have to see if he can make any kind of impact at the pro level. Only downside is he was a flyboy. They are like the favorite kids of the Armed Forces.
