State of the franchise
Are we ready to make a run at the Division.
When I ask this question I want you to look at our cons and look hard do you think we are ready to make a run?
Our side of the ball.
I Don't think we are ready to get past the Cowgirls at this point. Now I think we are in better position to win then the hated ones but as a roster heads up I don't see us getting past them. They have a great DE with a strong Nose tackle and there LBs are as stout as anyone in the league. What i think a lot of people don't seem to realize is that a weak Offence can Expose your D more often then not.The offensive line I've seen them play great but I've seen too many 3-4 Schemes leave us confused disgruntled and out of sync.
How do we fix this. The 3-4 needs a big strong Nose tackle and if teams are able to run right up the gut for 4-5 yards a carry the LBs get anxious and they get burnt by the pass.
Our D
Lets face it guys we're not that good. We were exposed a lot last year in the run, and that play action pass. We were great at causing turnovers thank you riverboat. But our LBs more often then not found themselves out of place at the worst time. Much of it had to do with the lack of production from the FS spot. Lets face it guys we got spoiled while JJ (r.i.p.) and B Dawk were on deck. we could bring 9 up the middle and not worry about being burnt, that made our pass rush look outstanding. I'm going to try to break it down the way I'm see it
FS , Not playing up to par TEs and overload blitzes burn us bad.
LB, Know that FS is not there to back them up and play stiff, thinking about not getting burnt they get over caustics and stop playing a position that needs rhythm and flow, and turn into road blocks.
DLine, Knowing all that's going on behind them get worried and off the same page aka 2 decide to go all out abandon stopping the run try to get the pass rush going to keep everyone from being exposed. 2 decide to hold back play the run and the RB / FB that is kept in on pass blocking not needing to make a chose of who to block.
So we picked up a new DB that from all accounts is a solid tackler sounds like a SS to me.... But we don't need a SS do we? and once again do you think we are ready to win?

D-line was fine
If anything they struggled because they had to make up for the injuries behind them and inadequacies at S. The LB corps will need a little more depth, but if the defense stays healthy we have a great shot at the division. We’re an explosive team. We may not be as good as the Cowboys all around, but we’re built for the future and can score points fast.

I disagree, I think the D line was the root of the problem. because we only gave pressure from one side of the line (T.COLE) it was no problem for the offense to develop the play opposite the rush. That forced our LBs to play a more passive approach and caused Sheldon and Assante who are jump ball corners to stay in coverage longer exsposeing the unexperienced safty. with the corners needed more of a bubble because of QBs haveing more time in the pocket our LBS who were also unexperienced, had to play out of the box and less agressive with our blitz scheme. All season we were forced to play our opponits game instead of our own. An effective pass rusher opposite T Cole and a Heavier DT is exactly what we need. OLB or G/C would be my second choice in the draft
bring Dawk & Westy home
Maby
we were watching a different Sheldon brown, cause to describe him as a route jumping corner is like classifying the National Guard with Special Forces.

what
i think you meant asante .. sheldon always plays the ball .. thats why people dont like him and like asante .. but sheldon gives up less completions and TDs .. hes shut down and can tackle

I don't think there's a single Eagles fan who doesn't like Sheldon Brown
And most fans like him better than Asante, but we respect Asante for what he is and appreciate that he is better than most CBs in the NFL.

Now ain't the time
to analyze the Eagles. Get back to me in late July when we have essentially formed our ’10 squad and THEN tell me what state they are in.
everything is gonna be ok
we just signed chad hall
Dude looks like he could help out a bit, dont mock the move,
I bet he would’ve been a 3rd or 4th round guy in 07 but he had to give back time to the Military, I honestly feel he could help, he played RB, WR and KR, we could use a guy like him around here.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

TO SOON 2 RUSH 2 JUDGEMENT..................
Yeah you know what as of right now i would say the Cowgirls are better then us and the likely favs 2 win the division again, but let me bring you in on a lil secret…….. theres still a lil thing called the draft coming up along with another 4 months or so to get our roster up 2 par and get sum key depth at certain positions. In all seriousness u brought up sum good points that i agreed with, im just sayin its way 2 early to be naming favs 2 win the division. Given the circumstances of losing JJ along with Dawk and then Stew Bradley i would say i got wat i expected out of the defense, complete mediocrity. It actually could have been much worse if we werent getting so many takeaways. I think come training camp we are gonna be in more than good enough shape 2 win the division.
As far as I see it.....
this off season is still happening. So judging what we have now is ridiculous because we have no idea what the FO has planned and we still have the draft to get out shit together. So chill out dude and enjoy the off season!
