Marlin Jackson leaves Philadelphia without a contract

The Eagles met with CB Marlin Jackson over the past two days, but this morning the former Colt let town without a contract. Jackson will next visit the Jets.

Jackson told the local media that there was "mutual interest" between he and the Eagles, but he was taking a visit with the Jets. In all likelihood, the Eagles had the same reservations as Jackson explained the Ravens had.

They wanted wait a little bit and see me move with the fact that I'm coming off an ACL. I need to move a little bit more before going further."

I would imagine the ability to move a little bit is important...

smart move by the Eagles.

Stacey really ruined it for all injured FA signing in Philly. Good move Andy, let him prove he is OK first.

Even if they signed him it would feel like the sean jones signing

It would be a guy to compete for the job, not a definite starter.

Last offseason we figured Demps would make a big jump forward and Jones was the insurance policy.

This season we have Harris and Demps who have potential and the question is who might step-up.

I see the Eagles bringing in more depth and potential (like Macho was), but I’m really questioning if Andy will pull the trigger on a safety over DE or LB in the draft early

Not like they havent taken a flyer on a DB who couldn’t walk. Hell they drafted one before.

Ahhh

so glad the Eagles aren’t taking chances for the hell of it. Especially if he admits he needs to “move a bit more”

Backing away

He sure doesn’t sound like he’s confident in being fully healed up and ready to go. The more I see about this guy the less I see the need to sign him for anything, even depth at CB.

he's 4 mos. out of surgery...

he’s already back pedaling and running ahead of schedule. He said he would be ready for football work in June. It wouldnt be that bad a signing, especially to add depth at cb. Could have used some of that last year.

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Guess we have to have faith in the Eagles medical evaluation and mad contract skills to protect themselves in case he can’t make it all the way back.
