Spags on Vick: " I think he’s a terrific player"

Yet another clue has dropped regarding the Rams being the next possible destination for Michael Vick. St Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo was asked down at the Superbowl this week what he thought of the Eagles' backup.

"I’ve got a lot of respect for Michael as a player," Spags said. "Everything I’ve heard out of Philadelphia is kind of good. We haven’t gone down that road in our process yet. I think he’s a terrific player."

It's pretty telling that Spags didn't give the "I can't comment on other team's players" line that pretty much every coach does. His willingness to address Vick openly could be the first step in softening up the Rams fanbase for an eventual Vick trade.

Terrific enough

to give up a 2nd round pick for?

Come on Spags, you know you want to do it!

by MyronBales on Feb 6, 2010 12:18 PM EST reply actions

2nd rd pick

there pick is 33rd…no way in hell….gladly take a 3rd…

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

3rd would be clutch, it’d almost be like a 2nd and it would be the 1st pick of the 2nd day allowing the brass to regroup and take time figure out who they want to take. I think that is a large reason why it won’t happen. $th is possible I guess, but if I am the Rams I am hoarding picks.

Man

You’d have to be crazy to give up anything more than a 4th for Vick. But then again, when you go 1-15…anybody looks pretty good.

This makes me laugh.

What the hell is Vick going to do for St. Louis? His presence could sell a few more tickets (like the fleeting uptick the shithole sixers got from signing the crippled and worthless Iverson), but are they seriously considering making him their starting quarterback? That will make this year’s 2-14 look like a holiday on the Rivera in comparison.

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

hey...

let the rams have their delusions of grandeur. if it nets us a third rounder, it’s fine by me.

by awd777 on Feb 6, 2010 1:55 PM EST up reply actions

take the third and run

Besides, the Rams went 1-15. It’s not like Vick can make them any worse.

by EANX33 on Feb 6, 2010 2:39 PM EST up reply actions

So true

There is nothing wrong with trading Vick to the Rams for the 1st 3rd round pick in the draft.

Proudly supporting a Flyers team with "no honor".

by JFein on Feb 6, 2010 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, don't get me wrong.

I’ll take their third for Vick…I still think Al Davis would give us a first for Vick and try to incorporate him into some sort of “speed package” as a second quarterback in a split shotgun formation with Jamarcus.

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

imo, vick is better than what the rams have currently. if vick gets another offensive weapon or two, the rams have a chance of going 8-8 next year.

giving up a 3rd pick would make sense for both teams

by ringordietryin on Feb 6, 2010 1:59 PM EST reply actions

With Warner retiring, that division is really up for grabs next year. The Rams may feel that with a couple right moves, some young players developing, and a good draft they could actually compete for the NFC West next year. There’s really no reason they can’t.

by JasonB on Feb 6, 2010 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll take a 3rd in either this year OR next year’s draft for MV.

by andyreidswaistline on Feb 6, 2010 4:07 PM EST reply actions

A 3rd isn't unreasonable

Not alot of 3rd round players get on the field in their first year…..so spending a 3rd to obtain Vick would at least give the team some immediate gratification.

Even with Vick, I’m still not sure the Rams would contend for the division because their defense is atrocious. But then again, Ndamukong Suh will be sitting there waiting for the Rams to call him asking how many sacks he’s going to have for them in 2010.

This would be wonderful

get him out of Philly and lets get us some other draft options. I’m pretty sure Garcia and Feeley will be available for our 3rd QB spot. Come on Spag. We give you special permission to approach our front office before March to find out what Vick will cost. Matter of fact, call us in the next 3 days and we will include Quintin Demps at no charge.

"You know...I think you got the wrong impression about me. I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance, tomorrow morning I'll get up nice and early, and take a walk down over to the bank, walk in and see ya, and uh. If you don't have my money for me, I'll...crack your fuckin head wide open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm coming out of jail...Hopefully you'll be coming out of your coma, and guess what? I'll split your fuckin head open again! Cause I'm fuckin stupid! I don't give a fuck about jail. That's my business. That's what I do." - Joe Pesci in Casino

VICK A TERRIFIC Q.B.

Did SPAG get hit a couple times in the head whilr playing some yard football? Pull your head out of your AS$ Vick will do nothing for the RAMS. Vick is a good athlete and a terrible human being, do you have to be a good human being to be a Pro Athlete? NO! Just look at all the Felons and criminals who are millionaire sports represenitives.
Do you, the Rams and their fans a favor, BE VICK FREE, I’d rather lose then have that piece of SH@T on the team, it’s time to clean up and clean out Pro Sports and the criminals that are in them.
