Why the Eagles need to sell out to draft David Sills in 2018

Kevin Kolb doesn't have what it takes to lead the Eagles to the Lombardi. We've seen what he can do. Sure, he can throw short and intermediate passes. Yeah, he threw for 4,500 yards and 30 TDs. What he can't do is win big games. 2 Super Bowls under Kolb and what do we have to show for it? Nothing.

He also can't scramble like he used to and he's not the leader we expected him to be when he took over the Eagles starting job in 2011. After Donovan McNabb proved time and time again what a loser he was, the Eagles got smart and let him go only to hand the reins to... another loser.

By opening day, Kevin Kolb will be 34! That's older than anyone should be on the Eagles. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin's best years are behind them. LeSean McCoy has been injury prone. Our window for a championship is closing. We need to go full rebuild.

Coach McDermott has gone on record to say Kolb is our QB. I think he's just trying to pump up Kolb's trade value. Sills is the best QB available in this year's draft and it would take a top 3 pick to land him. The Colts won't take him at #1 overall, because they recently drafted Jesse Scroggins in anticipation of Peyton Manning's retirement. The Cowboys won't take him because everyone knows Jerry Jones is in love with backup QB Jacoby Walker. I think the Eagles need to target the #3 pick from the Patriots.

We have the 25th pick. If we trade Kolb, and our 1st and 4th picks, that should be enough to convince the Patriots to give up the 3rd pick. The Eagles and the Patriots have a strong history of trades. Greg Lewis, Ellis Hobbs, and Shawn Andrews have all been swapped between the two teams. The Patriots also love to take on older players. Most people think Kolb can still play in this league. I think he's done and we gotta move on.

Sills is a proven winner. How about going undefeated in his college career? Look at all the records he's broken. His two Heismans? What more evidence do you need? Lane Kiffin called him the best player he's ever coached. The kid was recruited when he was freaking 13!

If we're ever going to get over the hump and win a championship, we need to change our strategy. We finally ditched fat man Reid after he failed to bring Philadelphia a ring, and if McDermott ever hopes to succeed where Reid failed, he can't make the same mistake and hold on to an aging, loser QB. Sills in '18!!1

Awesome

Love this window on the future. So much good stuff. 2017 must not be a good year for the Colts, Cowboys and Pats if they’re drafting 1-2-3. The Eagles on the other hand are still drafting late in the first.

So, what did the Pats give up to take Shawn Andrews off our hands?

It is ridiculous, but not the first time I’ve heard of something like that happening. A guy I know had a huge son who was being triple-teamed in junior high and was getting recruited by colleges to play defensive line.

I don't know whats more depressing about this post

the fact that in 8 years david sills will be this popular, or the fact that 8 years from now we will still never win a super bowl

we should start trading draft picks now, in anticipation for 2018. I bet a 4th rounder this year will net a 1st rounder in 2018. A few years of strategic moves and we can have 5 or 6 first round picks in 2018. We will be effing awesome that year!

I remember it so clearly...

…I knew after Kolb’s 5 interception outing against the Giants in 2012 and his career ending injury suffered the week after (his complete lack of mobility caused him to suffer a hit that make Joe Theismann’s blow from Lawerence Taylor seem like a gentle spanking) against the Michael Vick led Rams that Banner’s decision to end the McNabb era after our Super Bowl winning 2010 season was a bad move.

...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.

Dude, you always bring that game up

But you love to overlook the time Kolb passed for 4 TD’s and ran for two against the Los Angeles Jaguars in that same season.

This argument will never end

but you have to remember Kolb played on a short field in 2011 because he had the NFL’s best defense and special teams. Asante had 3 picks in that LA game! So yes, Kolb had nice stats that one season he started but he never won a SB like #5.

Anyway, what do you think about these rumors Reid will leave the broadcast booth and get back into coaching?

from my very scientific analysis (aka simulating madden 08 franchise mode)

it appears the steelers, packers, and mexico city wasps (formerly known as the minnesota vikings) will be the cellar dwellers of the 2017 NFL season.

also it seems the saints can’t do any worse than 12-4 between now and then.

Everyone knows the only reason the Wasps ever win is because of the elevation difference. The air in Mexico City is twice as thin as in Denver, and a lot more polluted.
Their strong safety Fuertes is pretty good though.

Absolutely. I find it hilarious that USC has gotten a letter of intent from a 7th grader. I can’t wait until he changes his mind or just completely goes downhill. Loses total interest in football or something. If you don’t have a sense of humor about this post I feel sorry for you and reccommend you watch some classic comedies to see if you can get your humor level up. I say Uncle Buck followed by Anchorman should start you off nicely.

Special Props for Evil, Ean and BDTV keeping the fantasy going with your posts. Awesome.

Enjoyed the humor, but I do think you left a few things out….
Brett Favre will be leading the London Ligres to their first playoff appearance in 2016 against our Eagles. Unforunately, since they were the higher seed, with their impressive 19-6 record, the Eagles and their 17-8 record, will travel across the pond. They lose an epic mid-may battle that spans 9 college style OT’s.
In 2017, the Eagles make a groundbreaking trade. They swap cities with the Ligres. Now, the London Eagles will be QBed by the never traded Mike Vick, and the PHiladelphia Ligres will be QB’ed by newly acquired Peyton Manning. Manning will celebrate his 40th birthday as the Ligres training camp opens up just 2 weeks after the superbowl.
Lastly, in other NFL news, roger goodel announces that 2 teams will play a game in 2018, on the moon.

McNabb had a huge day on that Moon Game

I remember EvilBanner and I hung out and watched it through a specially NFL licensed telescope I bought at the pro shop at the Linc. With the gravity difference, what would have been a McNabb throw at the receiver’s feet, was actually on target on the moon.
