According to Adam Caplan of Scout.com, the Eagles held a workout for defensive end Ricky Foley earlier today. Foley, 27, notched a league-leading 12 sacks for the BC Lions this season and has also been courted by the Jets, Patriots, and Rams. If signed, Foley will join RB Martell Mallett as the second CFL player on the Eagles offseason roster. Last year, the Eagles signed both safety Byron Parker and linebacker Charleston Hughes of CFL fame. Neither player made it past the final roster cuts.

How many former CFL players not named Warren Moon have done much of anything in the NFL?

Of course they are...

But before camp, everybody’s a potential Pro Bowler. It’s the season that gets in the way of that…

Difference was players could develop in NFL Europe or Arena, those are both gone so teams are trying to get diamonds in the rough from the CFL

there have been some decent players

Joe Horn, Jeff Garcia, Doug Flutie amd Mike Sellers would be the best in recent years off the top of my head.

Lots of lesser known but solid contributors. Foley was a latecomer to football and is a good athlete. I think he would do better as a nickel OLB in a 3-4 though.

The games and leagues are different, and some players have skills that don’t transfer from one game to the other, but I think Foley is a guy who could play a role on an NFL team. You can never have too many pass rushers, and he is a decent ST guy as well.

Jeanty has been good for Bengals as well

Wake is a guy who could get 12 sacks with more time. Most dominant CFL player ever.
