Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

Just spoke to Drew Rosenhaus. Eagles won't tender an offer to TE Alex Smith. Max J-G will get lowest tender, 1.01 mill.

I’m surprised they aren’t just applying a tender to everybody. It’s my understanding the money isn’t guaranteed. Why not tender Smith, keep him in the fold, and give him a chance to earn a roster spot? If there are 3 TE’s that are better after camp winds down, cut him at that time.

I guess they didn't like what they saw from him

He did get axed from two teams before landing with us.

madden

I wonder what desean jacksons rating is going to be? Will they give him 100 speed, agility, and acceleration instead of 99?

True

People (myself included) keep forgetting about Rucker, but the kid has the potential to be a big red-zone target. I’ll bet you right now that he will be on the active roster come week one.

It’d be hilarious if we had the best TEs in the NFC East this year. Funny thing is, it’s entirely possible.

No doubt. Martellus Bennett had a horrible year last year. Actually, the Skins have a really nice duo at TE.

He filled in nicely when cooley went down. Kinda like Celek did when LJ Smith went down 2 years ago

MJG's tender

Seems like the Eagles view MJG as a backup G at best and wouldn’t mind if another team signs him either. Frankly I thought they might not even tender him given how poorly he played when he filled in at RG when Jackson went down.

by MG77 on Feb 26, 2010 9:51 PM EST reply actions

Keep in mind

This may say some positive stuff about where Ingram is in his rehabilitation.

Every time I catch the ball with him in Madden it calls him Antonio Gates. I think it’s hilarious.

Also, I’ve taken to trying to beat the CPU using only running plays. It’s actually not that hard! Come on Andy! If it works in Madden it will work for real! 100% running calls next season! Listen to the fans!

I thought it was guaranteed when you tender a guy?

by JasonB on Feb 26, 2010 11:26 PM EST reply actions

If you franchise a player, it’s guaranteed. However, RFA tenders are not guaranteed. I’m about 95% sure on that.

by JimmyK on Feb 26, 2010 11:45 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Just confirmed it… RFA tenders are not guaranteed.

by JimmyK on Feb 26, 2010 11:47 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Smith not getting tendered doesn’t surprise me I’ve read that the Eagles really like Rucker so it has made me wonder if they will just keep 5 WRs this year instead of the usual 6

by The Legend on Feb 26, 2010 11:30 PM EST reply actions

Anyone think somebody will give up a third for MJG? I think it’s a great move tendering him where they did. Win-win situation whether or not someone takes him off our hands. Eagles are likely to draft a lineman regardless and will have more flexibility to do it with one more pick if someone signs MJG. In fact, I’d almost bet the Eagles would love for someone to give up a third for him.

I think the tender they put on him was a 4th

by The Legend on Feb 27, 2010 12:03 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, you’re right.

Either way, does anyone think a team will give up a 4th for him?
