Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

The Chargers evidently hate running backs. Michael Turner... gone. LaDainian Tomlinson... gone. Darren Sproles... Soon to be gone.

His rushing numbers aren't great...

93 carries, 343 yards, 3 TD, 3.7 ypc.

But his receiving numbers are...

45 catches, 497 yards, 4 TD, 11.0 ypc.

The 11.0 yards per catch is excellent for a RB, and obviously he's a very explosive option as both a kick and punt returner.

Anyone interested at the right price?

I’m think he meant gone from the Chargers. He was on their practice squad before he got signed by us.

I don’t think you can make high demands when a RB needy team gave you the boot. $4 mil a year should nab him. Although, I reeeeaally want Blount or Gerhart in the draft.

wow $4 million is still a lotta cash

especially when you consider he’d probably be a 3rd back behind LeSean and Weaver.

He’s so tiny. It’s amazing to watch him come through the line and break tackles. He’s like Mini-Me all greased up and on steroids.

+1

He’ll want too much for the right price to be possible.
He’s good as a kick returner and backfield reciever, not so much as an RB.;
I wouldn’t bother.

Suddenly, there are tons of RBs on the market. I’d actually like to have him here. Either him or Thomas Jones.

"Backs in the 'I'...First and 10...McNabb, play action. Is back again. He is looking..he is going deep. He wants DeSean Jackson..who HAS IT!!! HE HAS IT!!! AND STEPPED INTO THE ENDZONE!! He took it away from the defender!! He took it away from Dominique Rogers-Cromarte, and ran into the endzone!!"

MJD can block and he’s not much bigger than Sproles. I have a hard time believing he’s only 185 though.

Getting these from NFL.com…

MJD – 5’7, 208 pounds
Sproles – 5’6, 185 pounds
Westbrook – 5’10, 203 pounds

MJD isn’t much taller than Sproles, but he has good twenty pounds on him.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

I am the same height as MJD but he has 60 frickin’ pounds on me. Unreal. He truly deserves the nic “Pocket Hercules”.

I know. I checked ESPN and NFL and they both said 185, I just doubt the accuracy of that. I could be completely wrong though.

See What He Wants

I think we should get him. Our offense with his ability. The chargers just went away from the running game thats why his numbers are not that high but… Kickoffs and the screen game? Come on now. If he truly wants to win the bowl then he will take what is offered to him. Between Sproles, McCoy and Weaver our backfield would be solidified to me.

by DAMON JENNINGS on Feb 28, 2010 3:24 PM EST reply actions

NO! he has good receiving yards because they throw a lot of screens and flats to him and he is shifty. They have to do that because as a running back he’s horrible. He’s one dimensional he can make people miss sure and he is dangerous on the outside with the ball in his hands but honestly just throw those screens to Jackson and you’ll get the same if not better results.

Sorry I just don’t see the point in Darren Sproles he’s not a runningback.
