Westbrook says Vick "definitely" won't be an Eagle
As part of his Thursday appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, soon-to-be-former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook (he'll be officially cut next Friday) was asked whether quarterback Mike Vick will be on a different team in 2010.
"Definitely," Westbrook said.

Westbrook...
Is not upset with the Eagles for cutting him, he has said several times he is not surprised and it is just a business. How does this quote suggest he is upset with the Eagles for cutting him?

wow, i wouldn’t expect him to say something lilke that
"If I can get you to think twice, I'm in your head."
-Brian Dawkins
Eh, what does he know?
I mean, he’s obviously not in touch with the higher ups in the Eagles organization, otherwise he would have seen his cut coming!
And if this is true, and what Weaver said about McNabb is true, than we’ve only got Kolb left for next season! I have faith in Kolb, but it never hurts to have a reliable back-up.
Brent Celek > Chuck Norris
I got laid off last year from a failing company, and was the last to go among those who were not at least partial owners of the firm. Without being part of the “inner circle,” I knew exactly who was going to go, and when, and why. Westbrook has been with the team almost a decade, and is an educated man – I think he probably has a pretty good feel for things.
We'll see.
I personally hope he’s wrong. Vick continued to improve last season, and I’d hate to see him on another team. Also, if he is right about this, it would really be a shame to see Brian go down this path. I mean, revealing the Eagles offseason strategy? Low blow.
Brent Celek > Chuck Norris
He may not be in touch with the higher-ups, but come on. When Vick signed a 2 year contract with the Eagles and people saw the structure of the contract NOBODY thought he was going to be with the Eagles for that 2nd year. People are going to be amazed if the Eagles don’t cut or trade him before March 5th and choose to pay his roster bonus.
Let the beasting begin.

I disagree... I won't be surprised in the least if he gets that roster bonus.
You don’t go through all the PR risk and effort that the Eagles went through just to cut a guy a year later. Not happening.
I fully agree. Eagles will do their best to trade Vick, and if they can’t, they’ll do their best to trade him in preseason. If they can’t trade him by then, they’ll keep him and use him. They will not cut him.
I am the people's troll :3™
Agree
I wouldn’t mind having him, but his price tag is too high for him not to do more than he did last year. I definitely like him on short yardage and in the red zone.
This has always been a buy low, sell-high deal for the Birds. So we’ll see.

just a thought….but IF we do pay Vick the cash, do you think that this is a greater indication that McNabb will be traded and that the Eagles are considering keeping Vick as insurance behind Kolb?

Who knows
Everything is pretty much up in the air right now. Personally, I’d like to get something for Mcnabb while he’s still with us and has value. But I think he ends up staying and finishing his contract, and then leaving.
No, I think if they give Vick the roster bonus, it’s an indication that they simply aren’t happy with the trade offers they’ve received. And my best guess is that teams will wait the Eagles out to see if they’re willing to pay that bonus before they offer up anything of real value for Vick. Ultimately I think that the Eagles giving Vick the roster bonus, and then trading him is the most likely scenario to be played out.
mcnabb
Ok lets say he stays and we finally win the fucking super bowl. Do we re-sign him and let Kolb go, or say thanks for finally winning one and send him off packing and then re-sign Kolb. Just a thought but what would yall do? Idk what i would do thats a tough one.
"Bleed green for life my nocos"
It's a moot point
because McNabb will never win a Super Bowl. He doesn’t have the tools to do it.
Whether Kolb does or doesn’t is yet to be seen, but after 11 years of watching McNabb, I’d bet my life savings on the fact that McNabb will never win a Super Bowl, short of maybe playing with like an ’85 Bears or ’02 Bucs type of defense, which the Eagles will NOT have any time soon.
What do you mean
Mcnabb doesn’t have the tools to win a superbowl?

tools = skill set
Is what he was trying to say.
I know
What he’s trying to say
but over what I’ve seen these 11 years
I know he has the skillset to win one
wil he?
who knows

I
think it could happen with a variety of teams but I respect your opinion.

yeah
maybe, but how long would it take him to learn a new offense, and play at a high level? Because thats what it takes nowadays great qbs, and/or great lines to win a super bowl.

Not accurate enough, too inconsistent, too streaky, not a competitor
1.) He doesn’t have that competitive fire. He treats football more like a “career” than a competition. You can see it in his eyes. It’s no skin off his back if he loses a critical game – he’s still earning a paycheck. Alot of players are like this, but the best quarterbacks are the ones that take winning and losing personally – the ones that are devoted to the game not only for a paycheck but also for their legacy and their competitive fire (Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees)
2.) He’s simply not consistent enough to beat 3-4 quality teams in a row, which is what you have to do to win a Super Bowl. He’ll have great stretches of play where he looks like a sure-fire Hall of Famer, but then he’ll take a quarter or two off, or a quarter or two to warm up, or even take whole games off. Can’t do that if you want to make a Super Bowl run.
He's definitely inaccurate and streaky ...
… no argument there. But I couldn’t disagree more with the rest of what you said.
I take all that smiling and goofing off to mean he loves the game and that he’s calm under pressure. Poise is something I want in a quarterback (So is accuracy, but …). Nobody gives Favre crap for loving the game or Steve Young crap for being a smiley-face nice guy. But they won Super Bowls.
I don’t really understand how people can question his competitive fire given the semi-legendary Arizona workouts, the fact he’s rehabbed back from injuries several times, etc. … guy’s been a starter in the league 11 years. I don’t think that happens off just talent alone.
And as we said, I agree he’s streaky, but he’s played well enough to beat three good teams consecutively before, and there’s no doubt in my mind he could do it again. But, as I’ve said all offseason, we have to surround him with a Super Bowl-worthy team, not just a good defense and an overachieving offense, or vice versa. 2004 was the only complete, healthy, Super Bowl-worthy team McNabb quarterbacked. Maybe 2002. I have no problem with people giving him shit for not leading Super Bowl-worthy teams to SB wins.
I’m not one of those nuts with no perspective either. If we get a good offer for McNabb, I don’t have a problem rolling with Kolb if it makes us better overall.
But I get irked when people present subjective stuff like their opinions of McNabb’s demeanor as definitive evidence why he will never win a Super Bowl. It’s garbage.

Could not agree more
with how they say his demeanor is a reason he’s not qualified to win a superbowl, thats bullcrap.
