Westbrook era by the numbers

via 1.bp.blogspot.com

As would be the case with any true great of a franchise,  Brian Westbrook leaves behind a pile of amazing numbers

He is the franchise leader in receptions, receiving yards, & receiving touchdowns for a running back. He holds the team record for career yards from scrimmage and touches. He holds the team record for playoff rushing yards. He holds the single season records for receptions & yards from scrimmage.

Since 2004 he leads all NFL running backs in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and yards after the catch. He is also the only active player with at least 20 receiving touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns.

He was 5 yards shy of 6,000 rushing yards for his Eagles career. He amassed 66 touchdowns, caught 426 passes, and only fumbled 8 times in 8 seasons.

One fumble per year, for a running back... That's amazing for any running back, but especially for a guy who has touched the ball more times than any other player in franchise history.

He's the best. Don't really know what else to say. One of my top 5 Eagles of all time.

Don't forget Larry Johnson

He’s my boy… I have his jersey… he’s a beast… ignore the injuries, ineffectiveness, immaturity, lack of work ethic, appearances on the police blotter, and so on and so on.

Let the beasting begin.

ya

he was too small….never was that good… ok, but LJ and AP are way better. recieving tds dont count, so he barely scored at all

For a while, but probably not permanently. They rarely do that.

Completely agree.

Top 5

Tough call especially if you bring defensive players in the equation. Right there though.

Thank you JasonB

for pulling together this summary. What’s more, these great numbers don’t tell the whole story of how important Westbrook was to the Eagles offense. He won’t be replaced by any one player. Hopefully the offense as a whole can replace his production. His heart and attitude are irreplaceable.

That fumble thing is INSANE

Its a shame he never got the credit from the media that he deserved till the end. Only 2 probowls. Thats a shame.

To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

You know what's crazy?

Westbrook did ALL that in a west-coast offense (pass SETS UP the run). It’s pretty remarkable how much the guy accomplished…

Another thing: After the second concussion he suffered, this thought kept coming through me- if Westbrook played for a team like the Giants (KNOCK ON WOOD, THANK GOD HE DIDN’T), Westy could’ve had better numbers than LT, by a longshot even.

Maybe its just my silly pondering…

Well

Lets not get crazy. He could never stay healthy, even with a much more limited role. Im not so sure he would beat LTs stats

Yes would've been very interseting to see

what he would’ve done if he stayed healthy and got at least 15 carries and 5-8 catches a game on a c onsistent basis.
